Nid’s Balot’s Mais Con Yelo & Sago’t Gulaman

“ Just encounter a slight problem while we were heading back home fortunately someone helped us fixing our car. While waiting we stay on a nearby Pinoy Restaurant (Nid’s B’alot ‘n Bilao ATBP. ). Like what the name of the restaurant tells us, their specialty are food that are wrapped on a banana leaf and they also sell some rice cakes and desserts like Leche Flan, Ube Halaya and more. We ordered some dessert & refreshment on their menu. Mais Con Yelo & Sago’t Gulaman to make ourselves calm. I really like it, both, Mais Con Yelo & Sago’t Gulaman. The cheese on the Mais Con Yelo really adds up to the flavor of this cold dessert and the Sago’t Gulaman, thumbs up for the yummy and ‘siksik’ jellos. They have 7 branches all over Metro Manila and Calabarzon Area (Laguna & Batangas). ”

MIRIAM LAUNCHES SEQUEL TO “STUPID IS FOREVER” ON 70TH BIRTHDAY

Barely half a year since the launch of the phenomenal bestseller “Stupid is Forever,” Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago and ABS-CBN Publishing release a second “stupid” book. After selling more than 350,000 copies, Sen. Santiago is back with a sequel that is packed with more jokes, clever one-liners, silly pick-up lines, stirring speeches and, even, a short story.

Titled “Stupid is Forevermore,” the book promises to give her fans more reasons to love her on her 70th birthday. The much awaited book is divided into several topics including politics, religion, morality and romance. “Stupid is Forevermore” definitely reflects, once again, the eloquence and wit of the beloved senator. But aside from the lighthearted quips, the book also takes a serious tone through the moving speeches by the senator during various occasions. In one of the speeches, Miriam points out how the youth can be participative through social media. She urges young people to be critical about the political process and to use the power of social media to be vocal against corrupt politicians.

Stupid is Forevermore also features entertaining illustrations from some of the country’s best young illustrators like Adam David, Andrew Drilon, Apol Sta. Maria, Josel Nicolas, Eugene Madayag, Julius Villanueva and more. At 70, Miriam remains one of the most feared senator in the country, yet the most admired person across generations because of her cool charisma and intellect. As a decorated scholar and public servant, Miriam adds another accomplishment in her resume as the author of the fastest best-selling book of 2015, “Stupid is Forever.” “Stupid is Forevermore” is now available in all National Book Store branches nationwide.

Paprika Comfort Food + Cocktail Bar: Spicing up the BGC Block

Paprika is far more than just a spice that is often used in cooking.  It has breathed life to this quaint hole-in-the-wall restaurant this side of Bonifacio Global City.  Make way for Paprika Comfort Food + Cocktail Bar that is set to change your view on dining. Since they opened their doors under a year ago in August 2014, they now cater to a clientele whose definition of comfort food has never been the same since.

Paprika offers food across cuisines that consists of Filipino, American, Italian dishes and the like.  Expect some familiar flavors in Paprika’s assortment of dishes, all of which are specially prepared with a twist to make your dining experience an extraordinary one. “A unique comfort food experience” is the restaurant’s top goal.

And when you say comfort food, it definitely gives that satisfying assurance that your palate will be superbly delighted with every bite. At Paprika, there’s something in the menu that will satisfy each and everyone’s cravings for “comfort food” whatever that may mean to you.

Paprika lets you indulge on familiar flavors but at the same time try on something new that can gratify your tastebuds. The must-try list includes Gambas con Aligue, Adobo Overload, Bagoong Pasta, Roast Beef Pares, Spam Donburi and NYC Style Halal Chicken/Beef over Rice to name a few. Also try their inventive take on dessert like their WTF (What the Fudge!) Jar or their Fried Cheesecake balls. All dishes are good for sharing and priced competitively so you can enjoy your favorite comfort food anytime you want.

What’s the best way to complement Paprika’s sumptuous dishes than their refreshing signature cocktails offerings.  If you fancy a zingness to your drink, try Backstabber made of muddled red bell, paprika, lime juice and tequila.  Or if you can’t resist sweetness, go for the Smores made with marshmallow infused rhum with Irish Coffee Liqeuer.  If you’re a breakfast fanatic, get Bacon and Eggs created with bacon infused rye whiskey, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. And then there’s always the La Playa Barcelona which is a refreshing twist to the well-known wine-based cooler the White Sangria. Aside from those, paprika has a wide range of cocktail mixes left t choose from.

Staying true to their comfort food concept, Paprika also made sure that you’ll enjoy their food in the best ambiance.  The cozy and intimate vibe that envelops the whole restaurant environment is very much reminiscent of laid-back European dining places. With this kind of set-up, the owners and even the chef can freely move around and personally serve the diners and cater personally to their requests.

Paprika’s interiors lets you feel like you’re at home enjoying your favorite comfort dishes with their comfy sofas, soft lights and art decorated walls. Then there’s the open kitchen where you can see the action where it happens and how they prep up your every order; making guests feel they are simply being entertained at home by a friend having them over for lunch or dinner.

Catch their nightly drinking promos with fun yet casual DJ musical programming to match or their all you can eat promos for lunch time on weekends as the cherry on top of the already satisfying experience they wish to give all guests.

Expect only the best at Paprika. Since their goal is for people to fully enjoy the best comfort food, they are continusously exploring adding more creations to their menu. They promise that they will come out with something worthwhile for your next #BestFoodComa experience.

Summer Kicks Off with Goooal!: The Real Madrid Foundation Clinic

It’s a fundraising event like no other before by Fundación Santiago in collaboration with the Fundación Real Madrid. It’s “Goooal: The Real Madrid Foundation Clinic”.

This two-week football training for the youth and football coaches will happen in a span of 12 days from April 19 to May 2 in Metro Manila and Negros Occidental. Goooal! participants will be trained by the best coaches from the Real Madrid C.F. youth team in Spain on individual technique and tactical team training.

In the words of Fundación Santiago executive director, Chaco Molina, “Here’s a case that proves that doing good is More Fun in the Philippines. Indeed a unique opportunity to be of help to those who have less in life while enjoying the practice of your favorite sport, mentored by internationally acclaimed coaches.”

It all started with a novel joint project in Nasugbu, Batangas designed to keep children in school and out of harms-way through the practice of football. Notably, the proceeds from “Goooal!: The Real Madrid Foundation Clinic” will go to Fundación Santiago’s Volun2rism Program, particularly the Real Madrid Foundation Social Sports School (Escuelas Socio Deportivas) in Batangas and Negros Occidental.

It will foster inclusive development for under-served children while they pursue their passion for football and enhance their academic performance. The Social Sports School likewise aspires to teach them good values associated with sports and teamwork as well as healthy living.

This summer “Goooal: The Real Madrid Foundation Clinic” will hone the football skills of participants, ages 7 to 18 years old, in daily sessions held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila from April 20 to 24 and at the SJR Football Field in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental from April 27 to May 1.

The Coach Clinic is a whole day educational session for football coaches on pre-championship and pre-competition preparation for young players, set for April 19, in Metro Manila and on May 2, in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

“Goooal: The Real Madrid Foundation Clinic” is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the Spanish Embassy in Manila, MAPFRE-Insular, Roxas Holdings and Lifeline.
