Aries: Cannon ball diving into the pool, splashing everyone with water, and laughing. Yells obscenities at other drivers that piss them off. Always gets in trouble for being too loud in class. Will take any dare. Refuses to be told what to do and argues even when wrong. The life of the party.
Taurus: Sitting at the dinner table, eating, while reading a book on local edible plants. Goes for walks and puts random things he finds in his mouth. Will take any eating-related dare. Has tried just about every “strange” food known to man. Isn’t afraid of the “30-second” rule.
Gemini: Makes silly puns. Watches YouTube videos of baby animals and shows them to all of her friends. Full of questions. Constantly raises her hand in class, and can elaborate on a subject for an infinite amount of time. The one to start every conversation and the first to make friends in a new environment. Her laughter sounds like bubbles.
Cancer: Watches Disney movies way too much and probably cries during most of them. Shy. Avoids big responsibilities, often for fear of letting others down. Prefers to stay indoors and at home. Their “happy place” is inside, reading a good book, while wrapped in a cozy blanket on a rainy day. Very good at making up stories. Has vivid dreams and daydreams. Pretty good at baking.
Leo: Spends a lot of money on music festival tickets. Owns an entire shelf of different hair care products. Wears “loud” clothes and accessories to stand out. The friendliest jock you will ever meet. Great taste in the people they surround themselves with; they have no tolerance for bullies. Parties harder than anyone they know, and always posts photos of what they’re doing on social media. Probably invented beer pong.
Virgo: Owns several calendars. Maybe even a label maker. Has a blog about “Planners”. Finds pleasure in ritualistic cleaning and organizing. Great at planning events. Always prepared. Carries everything they think they might need in the purse they take with them everywhere (“Mary Poppins Bag”). Loves to write, and keeps around a dozen half-filled notebooks in her room. Very good at problem solving. Prefers to work alone.
Libra: Messy. Owns at least one exploding bin of art supplies. Creates everything that decorates her room. Verbally comments to appreciate the beauty surrounding her as she sees it. Stares into your eyes when listening to you. Can make up a conversation about anything. Talks constantly until she forgets that she’s still speaking and trails off. Reads people like books, and uses humor to explore boundaries and learn about others. Avoids confrontation. Good at lying. Can’t own a white shirt because she spills everything on it (food, paint).
Scorpio: Perpetual “emo phase”, internally or externally. Rarely talks about themselves. Can walk into a room and immediately understand the intentions and personality of each person in it, just by looking. Hard shell, soft insides. Their eyes are the only ones that light up and shine in gloomy weather. They can stare into your soul. Only sees things in black or white. Usually has great taste in music. Deeply loyal friends and partners to those they trust. Keeps a lot of secrets, both their own and of those they love.
Sagittarius: Fascinated by other cultures. Has or wants to travel to many different countries. Speaks at least three languages. Either deeply spiritual or religious. Ritualistic. Isn’t afraid to try new things. Loves mystery and adventure books. Very independent, and doesnt like feeling trapped. Has some sort of self-expressive medium that allows them to free their wings (art, music, dance, writing). Self-sufficient.
Capricorn: “Work hard, play hard” mentality. Typically very serious in nature. Always seems much more wise and mature than his peers. Has probably tried hard drugs at one point in his life. Firm in practices and beliefs. Good at keeping their word. Has one big obsession/hobby, like playing a certain game, collecting something, or working on something.
Aquarius: Has a very unique sense of humor that others don’t usually understand. Conspiracy theorist. Loves all helpless creatures and wants to protect them from the world. Activist and rebellious humanitarian. Insanely intelligent, but refuses to apply themselves to the school system. Learns very quickly. Good at public speaking. Probably the “class clown”.
Pisces: Stays home on weekends to sleep in. Has a dream diary. Typically pretty creative and may enjoy abstract painting. Musically gifted. Has been told that they “live in another world”. Slips easily into daydreams, and enjoys indulging in the fantasy worlds of books and stories that they read.
One neat thing I noticed while rewatching is that some of the paladins’ introductions in episode 1 coincide with their elements! Like:
The Yellow Lion’s element is Earth, and the first thing Hunk ever does onscreen is complain about being in the air and then work with metal. The fear of heights / motion sickness makes sense considering his affinity is with the ground, as does his talent for mechanics.
The first time we see Pidge, she’s working a communications unit. The Green Lion’s thing is Forests, and a big aspect of that is the idea of roots and connection with other living things (”we are all made up of the same cosmic dust”) and the first thing she does on screen is literally connect with others.
Red’s element is fire, and Keith’s introduction is literally him blowing something up and then punching some guys. Which. Speaks for itself honestly.
Weirdly, Shiro and Lance don’t seem to follow this trend. The first thing we see Shiro do is help Matt extract ice from Kerberos, and the first thing we see Lance do is fly the simulator, and neither introduction seems to be related to their given elements of air and water/ice respectively– in fact I’d say they seem swapped. I dunno if that means something, and maybe this observation is meaningless lmao, but it seems to hold up with the other three, which is interesting.
Sadie has been trained for two years, and working actively for almost 2 years now (her second year being marked when she turns 5 this summer officially) and in all this time, never once had someone off the bat assumed sadie was for me. (despite some very obvious hints)
Typically I don’t mind though, I use the opportunity to educate those willing to listen, along side the importance of understanding not all disabilities are visible.
TODAY HOWEVER, i walked into dunkin donuts, and instantly the employee said, “what a beautiful service dog.” Praising her for sitting neatly besides me. Taking the time to speak to me, not her. “I’m sure you’re very happy to have her in your life, they can make outstanding differences”.
I thought it was easily the sweetest thing that could be said to me this morning. Not, “you’re so lucky i wish i could have a dog with me all the time”, not “so isn’t it hard to give them away”, and not the invasive question: “so what does it do?”
I am very happy to have Sadie in my life, she’s changed my world entirely. He wasn’t glorifying the dog as a pal or pet, but respecting her as a working dog. He wasn’t glorifying the idea of NEEDING a dog, or the idea how “cool” and “lucky” I must be to take my dog everywhere with me. He respected her job for the difference she makes in my life. Some kind soul could see she was for me by taking the time to observe her vest, patches, and actions. His careful use of words meant a lot to me to hear.
I really do appreciate people like this, because as many horror stories as there are in the SD community there are glittering people like this who respect and understand a working dog as more than a fluffy “friend” to lug around, and not every dog you see with someone appearing able bodied means they are being trained to be given away.
How does adhd affect you? If you don't mind me asking. My friend he adhd and I want to be there for him.
Pretty much in the ways you’d expect tbh–
Focusing on anything I’m not at-that-moment interested in is practically impossible.
^Especially if it’s reading large paragraphs of text, even if I am interested in the topic that kinda focus is hard.
I have little to no perception of time 9 times outta 10.
Talking to authority figures or about myself generally is not a fun time due to RSD.
On focus again– on worse days I won’t be able to read/process the words I’m looking at on a page if someone’s talking in the room.
More recently, the nonverbal bouts I’ve mentioned due to brain overload for one reason or another.
My brain goes a mile a minute in a very roundabout and seemingly disconnected ways, so sometimes in conversation I’ll blurt out apparently totally unrelated things that I actually got to logically, just way too fast;
My memory is terrible - like, good lord.
It can be hard for me to focus on conversations / for people to get my attention if I see something interesting.
Sensory overload– personally I got it whenever I used to go to church, for example, ‘cause there were so many sounds and sights and smells and you have to stay still and quiet throughout it but my brain was just freaking out internally the whole time. But anywhere with a lot of sensory things going on can set it off.
Kind of sensory overload related (??)– sometimes my meter for conversation will hit rock bottom by the end of the day but somebody will still wanna talk and I’ll just be there flailing on the spot both physically and mentally ‘cause processing any more interactions just hurts.
Stimming: it’s not something I realize much until I think about it, but for example; personally, at work I feel weird without my lanyard cause I’m used to the weight of it and tend to play with the keychains on it or pop my nametag in my mouth while I’m walking around – idk it’s kind of a grounding thing – kinda like those totem things in Inception, haha.
there’s probably stuff I’ve forgotten tbh (like I said; memory problems, lmao) but that list looks long enough – all these things obviously differ in intensity from person to person, but hopefully that gives ya some insight on what might be up for if ever your pal seems a bit off at all
(Y’all feel free to reblog this too btw, might help spread some understanding)
okay but lets be real super innocent ‘yona is the only for me’ hak is completely canon okokok if yona kissed him his puny thunder beast legs would turn to a newborn deer the poor boy would probably explode
Now. It could be like @ukulelekatiesaid. It could be denial. Or wishful thinking. Or maybe I’m flat-out delusional
Except I had this thought a few weeks ago coz it seems weird to have a movie trailer where neither Laura nor Carmilla look like they do while filming the movie. Plus, in the trailer, Laura seems to be grading papers, but we’ve got that junior editor press pass ID.
I told my theory to a friend and while she agreed it makes sense, she pointed out there is a possibility that I’m overthinking things and that maybe they made/released that trailer just to like, *tell us a movie’s on its way*. And that’s all it’s meant to do.
BUT my thought is whatever happens in the movie, happens. Except then what we were shown as the movie trailer is the last scene in the Carmilla Movie. In other words, we get this whole mystery with the sisters and the re-vamping… and then we’re either given an implication or will actually receive more adventures with Hollstein, as shown in that ‘trailer’
