take responsibility

Don’t listen to anyone who ever tries to make you feel bad about being in therapy or for taking meds. Ever.
You are not weak or selfish. You are not too sensitive or whatever ridiculous insult they throw at you.
You are fucking smart and responsible for taking care of yourself and learning more about how to be a better, happier, healthy person. That’s fucking amazing.

To those who complain there’s “too much politics” involved with the Oscars, I answer you with the Declaration of Independence. (Yes, by way of Nicolas Cage. You know, ‘cause it’s a movie thing.)

“It means, if there’s something wrong, those who have the ability to take action, have the responsibility to take action.”

Those who have the voice, must speak out!

can you ask yr followers not to call people queer if they dont self identify as such bc its still a slur for some? thanks.

I never sent any of my followers to call anyone anything, and they definitely aren’t my responsibility?? Please take it up with that specific person and not me because if it wasn’t me, and I didn’t tell anyone to do anything, it literally does not involve me. Sorry if someone said something that offended you, but I can assure you I literally had nothing to do with it. Please take it up with whoever you are talking about.

Oh, no, this is…

Right, for one, Pearl trying to get Garnet on her ‘side’ and taking her response as backup to her claim is so not a healthy dynamic. The relationship Pearl and Amethyst have doesn’t seem like two peers, to me, at least not from Pearl’s perspective. It makes me wonder how old they all in comparison to one another.

I’ll say more if this plays out how I think it might.

Can you explain supervision? I've been told "I was talking about your case with my supervisor" and I never asked what exactly that entails ? What's the difference in general between consultation and supervision?

Supervision a process where a more experienced clinician oversees a less experienced clinician’s work, including giving them feedback/criticism, helping them improve in techniques, helping them learn new techniques and approaches, helping them determine effective treatment plans, helping them troubleshoot issues with the therapeutic alliance, and guiding them regarding ethical, administrative and legal issues.

Supervision can be approached a lot of different ways, but most commonly, the supervisor will meet either individually with their supervisees or with a group of supervisees and discuss active cases. The supervisor might watch or listen to therapy sessions, either live or taped, or they may sit in on sessions. The supervisor will typically read and approve any clinical record keeping, and if the supervisee is unlicensed, the supervisor signs any clinical record keeping as a way to take legal responsibility for it (meaning, the supervisee is practicing under the supervisor’s license and the supervisor bears responsibility for any issues).

What specifically is discussed in supervision varies a lot- depending on the supervisor’s approach, the supervisee’s needs, and the needs of the client and clinic. They might discuss broad conceptual issues, like how to understand a case and what theoretical perspectives can help understand it better. They might discuss specific clinical techniques, like how to manage resistance or repair a rupture- although techniques can get far more specific than that, like how to affirm a client versus validating a client. They might talk about ethical issues, or how to connect to resources, or how to help the client get to therapy more frequently. Essentially, supervision can be a lot of things, but the point is to help the supervisee become a better clinician and to make sure the client is receiving high quality, ethical treatment.

The major difference between supervision and consultation is that a supervisory relationship necessarily has a power imbalance, while consultation is often between peers. Consultation is often used to get ideas from other people, particularly experts in the field, on a specific issue for a specific client (like, “how do I determine whether a client has delusions or whether their beliefs are a part of their religious practice?”) while supervision covers the entirety of the clinician’s caseload and all aspects of each case.

Ok but these stalker bloggers have been tolerated and even celebrated for years. Why is everyone calling this out now? Also, if they want the info out it gets out. I think these stalkers are useful to 1DHQ.

Well anon I’m more than happy to take responsibility for this weekend’s discussion of stalking. A post went around that explicitly said that blogger knew which resort Louis and Harry frequent in Jamaica when they want actual privacy, and that that’s where Louis was headed to stunt with Eleanor. I started tag posting objecting to it, and Angela actually addressed it in a regular post. And others carried on the conversation from there.

Part of why it hasn’t been publicly dealt with more is because most tumblr bloggers don’t know how bad it’s gotten, and don’t recognize the signs of the most blatant stuff they could see (like the houses). Furthermore, this fandom is desperate for information. People are willing to turn a blind eye to that which they can see in order to preserve channels of information. It’s very hard to uphold your moral compass when it feels so good to just bypass it and get those cute stories or that one extra tie about Larry’s realness (even if we no longer need any more proof).

People have made friends or look up to or just enjoy personalities on this site. It isn’t fun for anyone to recognize and call out your friends when they’ve done something wrong. So much of the tumblr fandom is based on personalities and relationships – that’s why it gets petty and personal on here so much. I’ve yet to see a time when someone got called out for bad behavior without also getting their friend or fandom card revoked. Look at what happened to Angela – she talks about it this weekend and a popular blogger calls her an anti. That’s just factually inaccurate, and it’s this fandom’s very worst ad hominem. There’s no course correction or redemption on here. So if fandom decided to truly have this conversation and the truth came out, it would probably implode. So people don’t want to talk about it.

As for stalking’ usefulness – that’s only true sometimes, when it’s tightly controlled. That isn’t what’s happening here, and even then, why should we approve? The London Stalker Crew has definitely been approved, instigated, and controlled by OT; that in now way affects my disdain for them. There are better ways, anon.

I don’t take responsibility for broken screens. I made the photo barely recognizable because I don’t want to be recognized that easily by the people who know me. Plus I don’t like my face. I was tagged by @kawaiichurchburner (love that URL :D)
I tag @adalbertfrigidus @knights-of-alcoholism @postblackmetalsatan and @socialanxietyofficial Feel free not to do it, sorry if I’m annoying you.

We don’t talk anymore (x).

Whatever you do, don’t think about Oikawa and Iwaizumi going their separate ways and losing touch.

As team manager, Lardo is used to looking out for certain signals from her boys.
Shitty swears the most when he’s happiest, but if he says “damn” more than “fuck” then his family probably called, and he needs to come “help her work” (also known as, “watch her work while holding her paints and unironically listening to Black Parade”).
Jack muttering in French isn’t a problem, unless he’s staring into space at the same time. Then it’s time to get Shitty and make a run to the library for a WWII documentary.
Ransom and Holster have been tending to each other’s needs from the moment they met, so it’s just a matter of listening to what they say the other needs.
Bitty’s moods are as transparent as his crush on Jack, so it’s just knowing when to turn the oven off or when to ask him what’s up.
She and Dex have an open-door policy: any time he needs to vent or get angry or just talk without fear of judgment, consequences, or well-meaning advice, he comes to her, and she takes care of him however he asks her to, no questions asked.
She reads Nursey’s poetry on a daily basis. For all his “chill” exterior, his poetry shows a range of passion and emotion that is almost too intense, even for her. She’s still experimenting with reactions - autumnal themes sometimes mean he wants to spend more time with Dex, but sometimes it means he just wants to get away from everything for a while. She’s planning on taking a poetry class next semester as an elective to try to get a better understanding of the boy.
Chowder, though. Chowder is a mystery. When she first met him, she started to treat him like Bitty, expecting his emotions to be just as close to the surface and obvious to understand, but it took her one week of practice to change her mind. The boy had anger, the deep, quiet kind that was all the more deadly for its stillness. On the ice, his eyes were colder than the surface he skated on, and she reconsidered.
She’s not ashamed to say that she stalked him on Facebook (especially compared to the amount of research she did for Jack, and is doing for Nursey). She dug up everything she could find on him, and still came up empty, so she returned to basics. She did what every art major does best; she watched.
She watched how his babbling was broken up by bursts of silence, his enthusiasm by periods of narrow-eyed concentration, his joyful exuberance by naps on the couch. Most of all, she watched him on the ice, how that seemed to be the only place he let the cold take over, the force and ferocity with which he repelled the pucks shot his way. She watched, waiting for the moment she understood what was happening inside his head, until the moment she realized she never would.
“Where are we going?” Chowder asked as they left the Haus, toward the end of the semester.
“The counseling center,” she replied, “but only if you want to.” She swallowed when the boy - the man, she corrected herself, spotting the ice and weariness that did not exist in children’s eyes - pull up short.
“Why?” One word, not particularly angry, but not particularly forgiving, either. Lardo drew herself up.
“Chowder, it’s my job to look after my boys,” she started. “I make sure everyone is okay, and everyone has what they need to get through the season. Maybe this is hubris, but I kinda think I’m good at it.”
“You are,” Chowder interrupted, and Lardo smiled at him.
“Maybe, but even I have my limits. You’re hurting, Chris, in ways I don’t have words for, in places I don’t know how to get to. You don’t have to go into it, but am I wrong?” Silence greeted her, and she watched Chowder’s shoulders slump. “I may not be able to help you, but at least let me get you to someone who can.” After a long moment, Chowder nodded, and they took off again.
“I thought I was hiding it,” he murmured after a minute, and Lardo looked up at him.
“You were, quite well, actually,” she replied. “I never would have seen if I hadn’t been looking. But that’s the point; you didn’t need to. You never need to. Everybody needs somebody sometimes. That’s what I’m here for.”
“Because it’s your job.”
“Yes,” she agreed. “But also because I’m your friend.” They had reached the front of the counseling center. She looked back up at him. “You want me to wait for you?”
“No,” he replied, his eyes already far away, on ice. They cleared for just long enough for him to look down at her. “But can you get Bitty to make me a blueberry pie, for when I get back? I think I’m going to need one.”
“Yeah, course.” She watched as he walked away, before putting in the order with Bitty and sidestepping his concern via text. He didn’t thank her, they never do, but she didn’t need it anyway.
As team manager, Lardo is used to looking after her boys. And in the case of her Californian goalie, that means a weekly walk to counseling and a pie order for afterwards.
God, she loves her job.

Dear Parents:

You may think that “My house; my rules” is an entirely fair position for your children to be in. After all, you bought the house, you pay the bills, you provide them with their food; it’s only reasonable if they abide by your rules in return.

However, please consider that this is not a trade. A trade can only happen when both parties choose to engage in it. Your child cannot freely choose to live with you because, if they ever leave, the police can hunt them down and return them. If they ever try to get a job to support themself - buy their own food, pay their own bills - the State can arrest the employer.

And the child never entered this arrangement freely in the very beginning. They appeared with the contract giving away their rights already signed. If you had a child by choice, you basically kidnapped a human being from the formless void and put them in your care. If you’re going to do that, you’d better hold yourself to some standards in caring for your inmate.

And, if you had a child by accident, then please have some compassion for your fellow cell-mate. They aren’t here any more willingly than you are.

I wrote about this on Facebook and have seen a lot of references to it elsewhere but I just think for archival purposes I might as well write it down here: Trump is a puppet and Republicans of all stripes are desperately scrambling to force through as much absolutely repugnant shit as they possibly can, so that when his downfall comes (and someone, somewhere, probably has a careful plan for how to bring that about, and maybe even a schedule; impeachment most likely, and they’ll drag it out but let it happen), they can disavow everything terrible that happens, and spend just long enough dragging their feet on “repairing” all the “damage” he did (and it was all him! all on his own! he and his people! such rogues!) that the things they wanted will still happen, the people who were getting paid off for various corporate deals can still cash out, the assets can still get stripped out of the various government agencies, the outrage can burn itself out a bit, hopefully the few thousand sickest and most expensive patients stripped of healthcare will up and die already, the most annoying activists can get declared felons, a good collection of undesireables can get rounded up and deported or whatever, it’s all to the good even if it’s morally and legally indefensible.

But by the time midterms roll around, they can all pin the blame for everything terrible that has happened on Trump, and campaign for re-election and maybe even swing some *more* seats red because of the terrible consequences of the things they pushed through. They were helpless, you see. It was all that horrible man’s fault.

So. I’m thinking maybe we need to spend a little less energy frantically protesting everything he does, and a little more energy carefully taking note of just who wrote each of those executive orders, who the authors of those bills were, and who, especially among the Democrats, collaborated.

Take note of your Republican reps’ actions, and write to them and tell them that you see what they’re doing, and when Trump falls you’re not going to let them blame it on him; you see what their actual actions were in this ridiculous and confusing time, and you’re not going to fall for it.

Take note of your collaborators and write to them and tell them you’ll be backing a primary challenger against them in the next elections, if they’re Democrats.

We surely need to be planning for 2018, and these are the first steps for that. This is all meant to be overwhelming and distracting. Look to the long view. There’s not much more we can do in the short view– obstructionism is the only way to minimize the damage before Trump is eliminated.

(And, of course, keep the pressure up so that he does actually get eliminated.)

Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences.
