Part 12 of Letters From the Dead

Everyone had finished eating, and still, no one told you what this was about. “So, there’s a reason for us bringing you out without the munchkins.” Jensen started. Daneel reached into her bag and pulled out some papers, handing them to you.

“What’s this?” You asked, taking them.

Your eyes started reading over the words on the paper as Jensen spoke. “I, well, we- would like you to legally be part of the family. An Ackles.” You could hear the grin on his face.

Licking your lips, you nodded slightly. “You don’t have to answer right this second.” Dan told you, knowing this came out of nowhere. “We just wanted to do something nice when we asked.”

“And, there’s one more thing.” He told you, Gen and Jared just there as support. Your eyes met his. “If it’s okay with you, I’d like Dan to adopt you.” Your eyebrows went up.

They knew this wasn’t to be taken lightly, and Jensen admitted if you agreed too fast, he’d have worried that you were saying yes to make them happy. You thinking about it meant this was what you wanted. It had been a few days, and you hadn’t mentioned it to anyone- not even Hayley. You wanted time to process everything first, and to at least attempt to sort your feelings on the matters. These were life changing decisions!

The papers sat on your desk, next to your laptop, not that it would have left your mind if they weren’t there. Seeing Haley online, you decided to talk to them to sort your thoughts. School was coming up, and fast.

Taking a deep breath, you logged off, grabbed the papers, and made your way downstairs. It was just about time for lunch, anyways, which your stomach was letting that be known. Your insides were going insane, then you still had to make the post! Which, of course, would blow up.

As you moved down the stairs, you decided that you’d make that post public, as it would be public anyway. You wanted to have the world know things from your point, not just what was posted on blogs, fansites, and all that other stuff. Your world was about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Again.

MATT: “And you, little one?”

ASHLEY: Well, you said you have things that will fuck you up right, so what would that be considered?

MATT: “Oh, I mean no offense, lady, but you’re a bit small sized–”

ALL: Whoa!

MATT: “I mean that respectfully! Look, I’m just looking out for my patrons here. I don’t want to go ahead and send someone to the local temple.”

LAURA: She can drink most people under the table.

ASHLEY: Bring it!

MATT: “All right. I’ll take your word for it, then.”

LIAM: Over the earring: Pickle, will you get me one of those, as well, and don’t drink it before I come back?

ASHLEY: As a matter of fact, I want two of whatever that is.

MATT: “All right, coming up.”

How about Genji and Hanzo (separate) reacting to their s/o throwing them a surprise party 🎉

Thank you for your request! i also really love this ~

Hanzo

  • For someone who comes off as seeming all-knowing, he’s actually clueless in this case
  • Although he doesn’t know what for, he does take note of you going around whispering to everyone in the squad room
  • He simply brushes it off at that moment allowing him a clear mind to meditate
  • When the two of you are alone he brings up to you but you having he upper hand, you outwit him simply calling it a game of telephone
  • When his birthday finally rolls around, you along with everyone place a ‘mission’ into his box buying you all some time to set up
  • Once he returns, you are the first to pop out and surprise him wishing him a happy birthday then everyone else
  • He’s genuinely surprised and little taken back, soon a soft smile forms on his lips as he brings you into a soft embrace
  • He combs his fingers through your hair whispering “Thank you”

Genji

  • He figures it out without a minute to spare, darn!
  • As soon as he sees you whispering to everyone in the squad room it isn't hard for him to put two and two together
  • He acknowledges that this is something you’ve been planning for a while, so instead of blowing the cap off it, he keeps it to himself
  • Ever since he found out, he’s been secretly watching you, he’s captivated by how meticulous and focused you are when it comes to planning
  • Later that day when the both of you are alone, he brings you in close and holds you muttering “Thank you” into your neck leaving you confused
  • When the birthday finally comes, he can’t help but feel a sense of excitement forming inside of him: he knows exactly whats waiting for him when he returns from his ‘mission’
  • When he returns, he’s greeted with what he quotes “The best birthday ever”
  • Later that night when the both of you are alone, he makes sure to properly thank you ;)

So if Adam does leave do you think they will have Robert and Aaron buy out his share of the scrapyard you do you think they will bring in someone new to be a partner in the yard? What if they bring in someone who thinks Aaron is hot and tries to make the move on him... and never takes no for an answer. Give Robert a new enemy that has Aaron stuck in the middle and just maybe Robert does something to piss off Aaron enough to looks at the new guy himself.

I think there’s like a 50/50 chance ED even bothers to address it considering that they’ve both been on so many vacations that one of them usually ends up working there singlehandedly anyway. But I think if they do address they’d probably have Robert and/or Aaron buy him out. And iiiifffffff they do end up replacing Adam I’m inclined to think they’d replace him with someone who’s already onscreen, which probably means either Pete or Ross to be honest (since there’s really no one else, is there?)

But fuck, what a dream scenario of a wild card working with Aaron all day and thirsting for him. We haven’t seen any other men take an interest in Aaron in 3 whole years with Finn YIKES ED do better. Aaron deserves to be at the center of a love triangle for once. And Robert could always use a new enemy. I’m here for any or all of your scenario, that would be beautiful and amazing.

The Secret of Success

Why are some people so successful in life? What is the secret behind their success? Research indicates that there are ten common traits that appear to contribute to a person’s success:

1. Pay attention to your thoughts as they determine your future: Always be positive and develop a “can do” mind set. Steer clear of negative people who would seek to undermine your commitment to your goals. Focus on success, and not on failure.

2. Be concrete and specific when you dream and set goals: Write down the steps that will lead you there, then track your progress and make changes if needed.

3. Take action: Goals are just words until you actually do something. Every day take a step that moves you in the right direction.

4. Be a life-long learner: Get more training, take a class and acquire news skills. Keep reading widely to expand your knowledge base.

5. Be tenacious, persistent and don’t give up:Hard work is behind every winner’s success.

6. Process the facts and the details:Get information and feedback. Notice what works and what doesn’t.

7. Stay focused: Don’t be distracted by people or things. Prioritise your time and stay focused on your goals.

8. Be innovative and creative: Following the crowd doesn’t take you very far. Don’t be afraid to try something new and give yourself permission to think outside the box.

9. Develop and practise good people skills: To be effective, we need to learn what motivates and brings the best out of others. Also, we need to deal with people in a way that is respectful, open, firm and fair.

10. Be responsible, reliable and dependable: Your word must be your bond, you must do what you say,and follow through on your commitments to others. If this block is not in place, then nothing else will matter!

Bts reaction to public turning on a toy

Request: Omg I need a reaction from bts to that vibrator situation, wow, please can you do that mommy? The one where they make you wear a vibrator to which they have the remote/app to whilst you’re both with other members of bts? 😍😍😍😍😍

Omg just reading about that bullet vibration thing is getting me wet, can you please make a reaction like that with bts? Where they make you wear a bullet vibrator out in public with them while they have the control to it through an app?

Goddamn that sounds so hot. Can you make a bts reaction to that? Bts reaction to making you put on a vibrator and them having control over it through a remote or app while you both are out with the other boys? Please please please please please mommy, I never knew I needed something like this

Wow can I request that as a reaction? The vibrator in public & the boys of bts having control over it?

BTS reaction to finding out that you have a sex toy inside you (butt and/or vagina) in public? Thank you hehe.

Jin

He hates it when you didn’t pay attention to him. So he made you wear the damn thing and everytime you actually managed to concentrate in class he put it in motion making you want to cum on the spot. And when you turned to him to turn it off, he offered you the angel smile he was so famous for.

Yoongi would either put it to full motion or he just stopped it. It was driving you nuts. On the edge, but not exactly. Yoongi toyed with you, where ever you went, whenever he wanted. And when you were about to just remove the god damn thing, you remembered the last time you didn’t followed thhe rules. Long tory short, it didn’t ended well.

It was one his most torturous punishments. He would put it on half motion while you past him in the school corridor, making you turn around, a silent plead in your eyes. However, he was only smirking evily, and then turned it to full motion making you drop your thigns and fall on the ground so you could so something about it. While Namjoon helped you collect your stuff, his husky voice whispered “Good girl.”

Hoseok

The ride in the bus was bumpy on it’s own but Hoseok wanted you to feel it even more so he slowly started increasing the speed of the bullet vibrator inside you, making you jump out in surprise. Hoseok would release a small laugh, taking your hand in his, offering a small smile and an encouraging “You can do it.”

You wanted to bring out the beast in him, so you put the sex toy on and downloaded the app on jimin’s phone and then whispered secretly in his ear what you did. And did he think about anything else that same day. At the end he got so frustrated

Jungkook. The captain of the football team that had a secret relationship with the most quiet and good girl in the campus. The Jungkook that made his princess wear the vibrator while he controlled it. As he was having lunch he saw you with your friends on the other table eating quietly. His friends asked him why was he looking the direction of the goodies. Jungkook said nothing, only put the vibrator on full motion, watching smugly as you jumped off your seat. That made him want to fuck you right on the table.

A/N: I write this form a public computer damn it. The things I do for you

170618 // I haven’t made a post like this in a while, but I’m revising for an exam right now and it’s the last thing I want to be doing so I’m procrastinating (don’t follow my lead kids).

How I use Digital Notes

I’ll make a more detailed post about how I study at some point, but for now:

  • I use microsoft onenote, but you can use whatever program you feel comfortable with.
    • Useful features of onenote include the organisation into notebooks, sections, and tabs, search function, equation support, tagging, and formatting options (inc. different heading styles).
    • You can find really great posts about onenote quite easily if you’re interested in how it works (I would 100% recommend it).
  • Throughout the year I type up my class notes, summarising information and organising it into a sensible order.
    • This took a lot of discipline and I fell off the bandwagon quite a bit. I initially intended to type up my notes from the day every evening, but I found it’s more realistic to just do it as often as possible and to aim to finish each topic’s notes before I move onto the next one.
  • When I come to revise for exams I will rewrite and summarise my notes on paper (writing out notes helps me remember them, but this may not work for you)
    • When I’m doing the first few past papers I’ll have my notes with me so I can look things up until I can do a paper without them.
      • I find this is more effective than using the mark scheme to help as the mark scheme basically gives you the answers.

Why Make Digital Notes?

Obviously digital notes don’t work for everyone, but I find they’re much more useful to have than notes on paper, at least before you start revising.

  • The main benefits of digital notes are:
    • typing is faster than writing
    • search functions (depending on the program) to look up information quickly
    • neater and faster formatting
    • you can back them up somewhere else so you don’t have to worry about losing or damaging them
    • you can bring all your notes with you without it weighing a tonne (assuming your laptop/tablet doesn’t weigh a tonne)
    • copy and paste! Ofc use this as infrequently as possible, but it’s useful for quotes etc.
    • pictures without the effort of drawing or printing out and sticking in
    • cheaper as you don’t have to buy pens and paper as often
    • an excuse to bring your computer into school and then go online shopping and play games during really boring classes no I haven’t done this what are you talking about so you have access to google etc. to look things up whenever

Prioritising

  • The only reason I’ve managed to keep up with my notes throughout the year is because I don’t take any for maths and I’ve kind of fallen off the bandwagon for French (whoops). It’s a bit unrealistic to expect to keep up with all the notes for all your subjects (particularly if you’re doing gcses), so prioritise.
  • Subjects like maths tend to assess a skill rather than knowledge, so it’s probably more useful to do practice questions rather than make notes.
  • If you’re dropping a subject in a year and won’t touch it again make sure it’s actually worth making notes for the whole year.

In Class or After Class?

Whether you write notes on the computer during class or afterwards depends on the class.

  • I’ve got one particular teacher who flits back and forth between topics and often mentions things without going into detail because she assumes we’re too stupid to understand (not my favourite teacher ngl). So I use my laptop in her lessons so I can go back to topics we’ve already done and so I can google things to fact check (she frequently dumbs stuff down to inaccurate levels) and expand on points that she makes.
  • If you’ve got a teacher that tends to move super fast it might be worth having a computer with you as typing is generally much faster than writing.
    • If you can’t touch type learning is a really good idea, even just to improve the speed of your typing (I can’t actually touch type but I took a course until I learnt to use all my fingers when typing and now I type much faster). There’s lots of free online courses available.
  • Alternatively, you can just make all your class notes on paper and type up the important information when you get home.
    • This means you don’t have to worry about your class notes being neat enough to revise from; after you type them up you can file them or even throw them away to save space.
    • It also works as a review which is really good for putting the information into your long-term memory.
    • However it is also pretty time consuming so you’ve got to be super disciplined to keep on top of it.
  • In my school at a levels I’ve found it’s not too unusual to have a laptop out but it’s a bit odd to have one at gcses (idk about other schools). Obviously you shouldn’t care about what other people think, but if having your laptop/tablet with you will make you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable then leave it at home.
    • Also laptops and tablets are expensive and it’s understandable if you’d rather keep them safe at home.
    • That said, people do get used to it. Even if you’re the only one with a laptop/tablet, the novelty wears off quickly.
  • Some teachers don’t actually like students using laptops and tablets during class, so do check before you bring it in.

I hope this helped! Of course if you have any questions about this (or anything else) my ask is always open please ask me something

“So um, Niall mentioned you haven’t lived here long. What brings you to London?”

“What is this, an interview?” Louis smirks, stealing Harry’s drink and taking a sip. “Wanted a change of scenery. Dunno.”

Harry hums and takes his drink back, narrowing his eyes playfully at Louis as he takes a long sip. “Can I buy you a drink, or would you rather keep sharing mine?”

“You most certainly can buy me a drink,” Louis grins, grabbing the bottle back out of Harry’s hand, “but I’m still going to be stealing yours.”

Or, Harry is jaded and sad and resigned to be forever alone, until Niall sets him up with a friend of his whose broken pieces may just fit pretty well with Harry’s.

I think an important philosophical point that we all have to consider, is that altruism as a concept is pretty rubbish. Altruism is the idea that you should do things that help other people and not feel good about it. Like you should just do it “because”, and like you should just do it “because” but the idea that you shouldn’t feel good about being nice is rubbish and you know, it’s one of things that puts too much pressure on people’s metal health. If you do nice things for your friends, if you do nice things for your family, if you’re a friendly person out and about in the public, if you do something to help out charities, then you should feel happy and proud of that. ‘Cause people generally in society, we are way to harsh on ourselves, people are really hostile to each other, people are always trying to bring each other down and find anything to be whatever. So if you, even if it’s holding a door open for somebody, you should just take a moment to think “and you know what? I like that I was nice to another person.” So don’t let anybody say “don’t feel good about that bake sale that you did for whatever reason”.

Commission for @inarelashionshipwithmyself

Lance had been cranky the last few weeks. On it’s own that wasn’t too unusual, Lance got cranky about the weirdest things.
About running out of the good face masks and having to use different ones that Allura gave him. About the mice not being in the mood to play with him when he wanted. About getting too little sleep. About getting too much sleep. About an alien he’d never seen before and never would again rejecting his embarrassing advances.
But usually his mood brightened again as quickly as it had soured and this lasting slump was starting to worry them.

Keith wasn’t the first who’d noticed it, he hardly ever was when it came to these things. But after Hunk had addressed Lance’s recent attitude and he’d started to pay attention, the signs couldn’t be ignored anymore.
Usually Lance chattered endlessly during their meals and meetings, now he hardly ever said a word, leaving the group as soon as he could where he’d despised being alone for long periods before.
He seemed tense during training sessions, focused but way too stubborn to really make anything out of it, the slightest mistake throwing him off for the whole day. Keith had caught him more than once on the training deck, using it late into the night, expression hardened and determined.

Whenever Hunk or Shiro or, lately, even Allura tried to talk to him he’d put on a cheery mask and pretend everything was fine before retreating to the shooting range to utterly destroy every target the ship gave him.
Keith didn’t know what to do, didn’t know how to reach Lance if not even their most empathetic team members could. He hadn’t felt this helpless since he heard the reports about the Kerberos mission failing.
Until the afternoon he was paired up with Lance for hand to hand combat training.

“That’s – okay, that’s enough”, Lance spat, squirming helplessly where Keith had him pinned, one hand tapping a fluttery rhythm against the floor. “I yield! Fuck, I yield!”
Keith furrowed his brows, not used to the other boy giving in this easily, but he still stepped back, offering Lance a hand to help him get up.
Lance scoffed and slapped the hand away, pushing himself upright. Frown deepening Keith watched him.

“You okay?”, he asked, wiping sweat from his forehead. They’d been sparring for a while already. Where Lance had been almost tenacious in the beginning the fire in his eyes had subsided with every failed try to overpower Keith, every time it was him tapping the mat instead.
Now he leveled Keith with an icy glare but instead of getting back into stance he turned away.
“Leave me alone”, he mumbled before he left the training deck.

Shiro perked up from where he was pinning Hunk against the floor, the yellow paladin about to twist free from the hold and counter it when he also noticed Lance’s retreat.
Allura stepped forward, hands on her hips as she called after him: “Lance! Lance, we’re not done, where do you think you’re…”
“It’s okay!”, Hunk called, having used the distraction to free himself and scramble to his feet. “It’s okay, I’ll go get him!”

“No”, Keith said, body moving before he could even think about it. “I’ll go, I’ll talk to him…” He could feel their eyes on him, skeptical and unsure. Could hear the breath Hunk took, the careful “Um, Keith buddy…”
But he just shook his head, going for the doors.
“I got this.”

As expected he found Lance in his room, already changed halfway out of his armor, the leg pieces still clinging to his body.
“I told you to leave me alone”, Lance mumbled, no emotion to be heard in his voice, but Keith still stepped further into the room, arms crossed and face determined.
“Yeah”, he answered, taking a look at the helmet and armor pieces Lance had put on the table for now. “But I wanna know what your deal is. You’ve been … weird.”
Lance huffed a dry laugh and shook his head.
“I’ve been…? No. Nothing. No deal, everything’s just … peachy.”

“Bullshit.” Keith shook his head. “You can tell Hunk and Shiro that. Because they want to … respect your privacy or whatever. But something’s wrong. I wanna know what.”
Lance groaned, throwing another armor piece onto the table.
“What, so you can feel even better about yourself? Just go away!”
Keith huffed and leaned a hip against the desk, trying to catch Lance’s gaze but the blue paladin already turned away from him again.

“Listen”, he began, not quite sure where this would lead but just going with it for now. “Just because you can’t beat me at hand to hand doesn’t mean…”
“Hand to hand? What can I beat you at then?”, Lance spat, whirling around to finally meet Keith’s gaze and there it was again, that fire he’d seen at the beginning of the training session. “You’re the amazing pilot, the martial arts expert, the brave one everybody loves and wants to be like! What else is there, what else … what else can I contribute?”
Keith frowned.

“You … you want to be like me?”
“Oh piss off!”, Lance cursed, turning away again with an exasperated huff. Slowly but surely Keith began to suspect he really wasn’t the right one for this job, that he was only making worse. Maybe he should retreat and send one of the others instead, to settle what he’d done wrong.
“I’m … I’m not good at this”, he began, already setting up to excuse himself when he had an idea. “At uh … talking to people. When they’re upset.”
“Oh really…” Lance’s voice was dripping with sarcasm but Keith pressed on.

“Or just in general. I just can’t seem to … connect with others. I’m not good at that. You are.”
Even though Lance’s back was turned to him Keith could see how he froze, head tilted a little. Listening. He took his chance and went on.
“Remember when we were on that desert planet and neither Pidge nor me could convince the aliens to let us evacuate them? But then you came in and only needed two minutes with their leader to make them trust us?”

Lance shook his head.
“You were still wearing your helmets, that was rude to them.”
“Yeah but we didn’t know! We never would have figured that out if you hadn’t!” Keith took a careful step forward, around Lance, to look at him again. Some of the tension had seeped out of the other boy’s shoulders and his expression wasn’t quite as hardened as before.
“Yeah”, Lance mumbled. “You guys would’ve been lost without me.”
“We would have been!”, Keith insisted, still not sure what he was doing, only that it seemed to work at least a little.

“And … and that’s not the only thing! You’re … you’re a great shot. An incredible shot! There’s a reason your bayard is a rifle and mine is for close combat. You’re our long range guy, yeah? You don’t have to beat me at hand to hand when you can beat me in a shooting competition any day. And your bond with your lion…”
That was apparently the wrong thing to say. Lance rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“Yours is better. The things Red does for you, it’s crazy…”

“Oh god!”, Keith groaned, throwing his arms out. “Stop comparing yourself to me! You’re your own person! And you bring your own skills to the team! We all need you and if you can’t see how much Blue adores you, you’re an even bigger idiot than I thought!”
There was a pause, Lance squinting at him as if deciding to trust him or not. Keith stubbornly held the gaze.

“You mean that, don’t you?”, Lance asked after a while, expression shifting from suspicious to thoughtful. He sucked his lower lip into his mouth, biting down on it.
“In case you haven’t noticed”, Keith said, posture relaxing again. “I’m also a really bad liar.”
Lance huffed another dry laugh at that but the creases around his eyes vanished as he relaxed.
“You really are”, he smiled tentatively and Keith couldn’t even bring himself to be mad at him. Not when he just coaxed a smile out of Lance. The first one in weeks.

Then Lance reached out to take his hand, squeezing it tightly, and Keith was way too surprised to react. The grip around his fingers was strong and warm, oddly pleasant.
“Come with me”, Lance said, tugging him towards the door without a care in the world for his half dismantled armor.
“What … where…”
“Shooting range”, Lance answered, completely nonchalant with a little shrug. “Wanna beat your ass at something right now.”
Keith snorted but let himself be dragged away. If that’s all it took to make Lance smile again he’d lose a hundred shooting competitions against him.

Twelve

Fifteen

It takes twelve seconds for Dean to snap himself out of it.

You watch him with fond confusion as he stares blankly at you, contemplative.

His food remains untouched in front of him as he blinks, licking his lower lip and bringing it between his teeth.

You clear your throat, taking a sip of your coffee to find that he’d made it just the way you like it; strong and a little sweet.

The movement breaks him out of his trance, and he shakes his head to clear it.

“What?” you ask, laughing softly.

“Nothing,” he lies, finally taking his eyes off of you. “You look good this morning.”

You frown as you run a hand through your untamed hair.

“Sure,” you allow, taking a bite of your food.

He catches himself watching you again and averts his attention to his own plate.

The first bite of bacon sends a salty, smoky taste across his tongue, causing him to let out an involuntary groan.

You’re the best at making breakfast, and he never fails to tell you so.

“Fuck, I love you,” he tells you around his mouthful, freezing when he realises what he said.

You laugh, oblivious to his sudden awkwardness as you swallow, nodding.

“That’s the bacon-high talking,” you respond, taking another bite.

He nods, swallowing thickly before sipping his coffee as a distraction.

It takes twelve days for Dean to tell you he meant it.

“Carnations” (Part 4)

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader (College AU)

Summary: A carnation fundraiser, an iota of possibility, and a longtime secret crush on your hot best friend - what could go wrong?

all thanks to the stupendous @buckyywiththegoodhair for beta-reading! you’re an opalescent pineapple-unicorn who deserves all the kettle corn in the world!

Last year, you and Bucky thought it’d be fun to make holiday wreaths while under the influence. Bucky stole a bottle of expensive vodka from his parents’ liquor cabinet, and both of you got embarrassingly drunk over a weird game of Truth and arguments about who got to use the hot glue gun first.

You gave him your drunken creation, which he gamely took and hung on his apartment door. Sam hated it –“The hell is – oh God, is that Barbie head glued on the side?”– but Bucky refused to throw it away.

A sense of amusement usually washed over you whenever you took in the fabric unattractively bunched up or the Barbie head randomly glued on the side. But today, the ugly wreath made your heart lodge itself in your throat. The Barbie head was scrutinizing you, its blue eyes judging you in a hawkish way.

You spin on your heel. “Sharon, I’ve changed my mind, I can’t do –” You smack your palm against your forehead as you remember that Sharon had already driven away.

The car ride to Bucky’s off-campus apartment had been an interesting one. Your blood coursed with adrenaline as you reassured yourself you’d be okay no matter what; you’d already gone through an emotional hurricane - what was one more time? Now you wanted to build a time machine and tell your past self to shut up and maintain anonymity.

“Nope,” you mutter under your breath, forcing yourself to face the ugly wreath again. “Channel your inner Romeo. Confess your love, but communicate thoroughly so you don’t die in the end.”

In a world where so much is expected of you, one of the most important lessons you’ll ever learn is that growing up doesn’t mean leaving behind who you are—that acting your age doesn’t mean letting go of your youth.
The truth is, you are never too old to dance in the rain until your skin turns blue. To ride a bicycle through the night with the wind on your face and all of your troubles long behind you.
You are never too old to blast the volume on your favourite song. To mark your name into the wet concrete on the sidewalk just because you want the world to remember you were here.
You are never too old to run away from home. To put down all that is expected of you and wander lightly into the wild unknown. You are never too old to rediscover yourself. To dream and hope like anything is possible. It is.
You are never too old to make love like it is for the very first time. Full of nerves and clumsy laughter, and hands that don’t know what to do with themselves. You are never too old to take a chance. To be as reckless and bold as you were with your heart before years of rejection left you cynical and cautious.
You are never too old to reach out for help. To fall apart gently in the arms of a friend. To hold onto your mother like she is the last thing anchoring you here to the earth.
You are never too old to remain young at heart. While maturity may bring you wisdom and strength, it is the playful, curious child in you that makes the world magic—that makes a life enchanting and worth living at all.

An Unconventional Hiveswap Dev Team Interview

Hey, it’s Cohen. Ash, our Associate Producer who usually runs these, is at E3 this week, so I’m doing the introduction. There was also a weird Affable Karkat vibe when he was answering this own questions, so I rewrote them a little. Here goes:

Obviously people sorta know you if they’ve been reading these interviews, but for the sake of the thing: What’s your name, and what do you do on the Hiveswap team?

Hello there! My name is Ash Paulsen, and I’m the Associate Producer on Hiveswap. As a producer, my basic role on the project is to help organize and sync up each department’s workflow while also facilitating effective interdepartmental communication. In layman’s terms: it’s my job to make everyone else’s jobs easier and do all the “in-between” stuff to help bring the game to the finish line, and that means I do whatever needs doing – which can vary from day to day!

How’d you get your start on Hiveswap?

This is actually a surprisingly straightforward story. Basically, What Pumpkin was looking to fill a producer position on Hiveswap, and luckily they were pointed in my direction by a mutual friend and colleague. So What Pumpkin then reached out to me via email, and I happened to be looking to take the next step in my career at the time. I then began a brief trial period as a part-time producer on Hiveswap to ascertain if the position would be an ideal fit for me. After a while, I was very graciously welcomed into the What Pumpkin family as a full-time producer – I must have impressed them somewhere along the way, and I’m happy I did!

Yeah, absolutely. Having a dedicated person for the work you’ve been doing has made my life easier. You’ve got some experience in 2D animation and video game production specifically, right?

My first production-related job came by way of Nickelodeon Animation several years ago, where I worked for about a year and a half as a Production Assistant on the Butch Hartman cartoons The Fairly OddParents! and T.U.F.F. Puppy. (Prior to that, I’d been working as a Game Master at Nexon – the developer of MapleStory – so this was a huge jump!) I later left Nickelodeon for a full-time position as the Senior Editor at UDON Entertainment, a publisher and art collective specializing in video game and anime art books. Somewhere along the way, I ended up taking on a second gig as an Associate Producer at ShiftyLook, where I got to help make super cool webcomics and web cartoons out of old-school, dormant Bandai Namco Games IPs, such as Bravoman and Wonder Momo.

It was that ShiftyLook job that reminded me just how much I loved producing and wanted to get back into it, so I put some feelers out there and when I was lucky enough to have What Pumpkin come knocking, I was ready to seize the opportunity!

Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into production? I don’t mean me, of course–it wasn’t until we brought you on that I realized how much production work I’d been doing as a matter of necessity, and I don’t want to go back to that life–but just, y’know. Tips and tricks for any aspiring producers.

In terms of advice for launching into a production career, I would say that a self-starter mentality and an honest willingness to take on pretty much any task – no matter how boring or menial – are key. I find that’s the best way to let people know you’re a team player and, in turn, get noticed! If something needs doing, just step up and do it! If you don’t know how to do it, ask questions, but do it nonetheless.

Yeah, including, when you’re not at E3, running these interviews. Speaking of, do you have any favorite games?

For someone who plays as many video games as I do – I’ve been an avid gamer since the original Super Mario Bros. captured my heart when I was just five years old – this is a surprisingly easy answer! My favorite game of all time is Chrono Trigger, a Super Nintendo JRPG you’ve probably heard of once or twice. That game is the total package: a gripping story, memorable characters, killer battle system, legendary soundtrack, and some of the Super Nintendo’s very best graphics. I think my favorite thing about Chrono Trigger is that the narrative can be as complex or as light as you want it to be; if you want to enjoy it as a simple time-traveling romp, you can do that and it’s great. But if you want to read between the lines and really dive into the lore where things get pretty dark and sophisticated, you can play it that way too and it’s even better in my opinion. It’s a game you can enjoy on your own terms, and for that reason and so many more, I just adore CT. My second and third favorites behind that are Okami and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

I just recently finished the Switch versions of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Blaster Master Zero, and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, and right now I’m playing Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Looking ahead, I am unbelievably, ridiculously hyped for Sonic Mania and Kingdom Hearts III!

Do you pull any inspiration from those for your production work on Hiveswap?

Not in particular… I can’t think of much crossover between gaming and production work, either in terms of the skills required or really at all. I suppose there’s some tenuous connection between, like, turn-based strategy RPGs and project management, but even that’s reaching a bit.

Besides, working on Hiveswap is its own form of inspiration: I have the privilege of working with a team of wildly talented, creative folks on a daily basis, and when you’re surrounded by that much awesome every day, it’s hard not to be inspired to work harder and smarter!

Since this is a remote team, we’ve had people describe their workstations, which has been fun. What’s yours like?

I don’t really have a particular workstation, if that makes sense. Mine is mostly the kind of work that can be done anywhere as long as I have my laptop (I run with a MacBook Pro) and an Internet connection, so my workstation is generally wherever I want or need to be that day. Oftentimes that means a local coffee shop because I don’t fancy staying cooped up in my apartment alone every day, but if I have a full day of meetings I’ll usually stay home. The same ambient noise I go to coffee shops to enjoy tends to become a major liability when people are trying to hear you in a Google Hangout or Skype meeting!

Yeah, I can confirm that, having been in those meetings before you started staying home for them. What about music? Do you like to listen to anything while you’re working?

I constantly listen to music while I work – lots and lots of video game music! Game music has been my jam since I started burning line-out recordings of sound test menus to CDRs as a kid. (Not even kidding. The ‘90s, baby!) Usually it’s upbeat, driving chiptune anthems like the sort you hear in Mega Man games and other retro platformers like Shovel Knight, but I also love orchestral VGM like Final Fantasy  soundtracks. In fact, Yoko Shimomura – composer of the Kingdom Hearts games, among so many others – is my favorite musician of all time! I also listen to original chip music and a ton of EDM (electronic dance music, which encompasses so many other sub-genres) as well. I’ll give anything a chance, really!

Anything else you want to say to fans?

I’m genuinely appreciative of and humbled by the opportunity to leave my stamp on a universe as singularly compelling and bizarre as Homestuck. Despite my being a relative newcomer to the project and the wider Homestuck community, bringing Hiveswap to the finish line in a form that delivers on your expectations means the world to me and I take my role in that process very seriously. I’m really, really happy to be here!

Is there anywhere people can see more of your work?

As I touched on briefly earlier, I’m one of the GameXplain crew! If you’ve not heard of us, we’re a Nintendo-focused YouTube channel closing in on 800,000 (!) subscribers, though we also cover PlayStation and Xbox titles when time allows. You can find a link to our channel right here, where you’ll hear me yapping away in all sorts of discussions, previews, reviews, news updates, and more!

We’ll have Ash and the regular format back next week.

Actual female power:

RESOURCES - having everything you need for survival and socializing without ever having to depend on men, having a secure place to live, source of nourishment and heat without ever having to consider marriage, sex work, or any kind of catering to men in order to establish mere survival on this planet.

AUTONOMY - full control over your own body. Not ever having to be touched against your will, or have another person control any part of your body, especially your reproductive abilities, deciding on your own and for your own benefit what happens with your body, knowing what’s good for your body and exact risks you take if you’re willing to subject it to pregnancy, sex, or any other condition, not ever taking a bigger risk than you feel safe taking.

COMMUNITY - Bonding, sharing, belonging, participating, being protected by a community of women with the same interests, same experiences, and same goals as you have, knowing that all or most of your experiences are common and normal in society you live in, receiving support, validation and help in all of your issues, knowing that no matter what happens, women will have your back, as you have theirs, standing united against threats that hit us as a whole.

KNOWLEDGE - receiving the formidable knowledge women of history have created and achieved on this planet, knowing that women created everything and everyone, knowing the role your sex has played on this planet was vital and immeasurable, knowing your history, knowing what we had to fight for and what we still have to fight for, having a conscious mind about the endless achievements and labour women preformed, as well as the endless violence and crimes committed against our sex, and the danger we’re put in from day to day.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH - our bodies are created strong, and the stronger we get, the more chance we achieve for physical safety, having the ability to beat the crap out of anyone who tries to assault you is a real power, looking too physically intimidating to even be attacked is a real, big asset, not being threatened physically by men is a luxury most women don’t have due to social pressure to keep our bodies small and fragile, so aiming for body as strong as possible is a real power, and it’s a power men don’t want us to have.

AGENCY - acting in favour of your own interests, knowing what those interests are and knowing how to take action that will bring you to your goals, never wasting time on representing the interests of a group that works against you, never wasting your energy, labour or time on those who see you as less than a human, fighting for all that you know you deserve, and know you can get, never letting someone else speak for you or decide for you, never putting your human rights on hold for the sake of other’s goals.

SAFETY - this is a power we have to fight for the most. Safety from psychological and emotional terror society enforces onto us in order to change our bodies, to give up on our strength, looks, bodily autonomy, confidence, freedom. Safety from falling into traps men have created in order to exploit us, safety from our bodies being sold, safety from abusive marriage, safety from physical violence, sexual violence, safety from having our autonomy taken away from us, from the credit of our intelligence and our labour and our creations taken from us, safety from having to spend our entire lives catering to predators in mere hope they will spare us the pain they’re inflicting on any woman who isn’t doing what she’s being told. We deserve to be protected from all of it. We deserve to have full lives without the epidemic of psychological, physical and sexual violence ever touching our lives, much less dictating them.

Note that men already have all of these, it’s given to them by default, resources are available for them in much greater quantity, autonomy of their body is achieved, they receive plenty of validation and community from their male peers, male authority, and male directed media, their stories and achievements are over-represented in every single history course, their physical strength is celebrated and they’re encouraged to get as strong as possible, they wouldn’t dream of representing anyone’s interests but their own, and they’re safe from a big chunk of emotional, psychological and sexual terror women are going thru every single moment of their life, even if other men still from a physical threat to some of them.

WE HAVE RIGHT TO RESOURCES AS WELL. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO OUR BODIES. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMMUNITY. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO OUR HISTORY. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CELEBRATE OUR PHYSICAL STRENGTH. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO FIGHT FREELY FOR OUR OWN INTERESTS. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAFETY FROM ABUSE. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE LIBERATED FROM SOCIETY THAT WOULD TAKE ALL OF THIS FROM US.

Tips for Keeping Productive in Summer

Let’s face it, for some of us the summer months are for nothing more than fruity drinks and lying on the beach. But for the rest of us, not much changes. Here are some tips for you to make the off-season more than just a time for tan lines.

~Keep a sleep schedule. It’s hard to keep going to bed at ten and getting up at six when you don’t have anywhere to be, so it’s a good thing you don’t have to! Even if your staying up until 4 and getting up at noon, keep it consistent. You’ll feel more energized by helping your body form a pattern (plus night swimming is more fun anyway).

~Keep using your bullet journal/planner. Even if your todo list consists only of getting your tan on and going out for yogurt with friends, keeping the habit will make it easier to transition back into school mode when fall rolls around.

~Stay on top of summer work. You don’t have to do the work as soon as you get it, but you should at least make a plan for how and when you’re going to get it done. If you do choose to finish it early in the summer it’s helpful to go back and look over it again, too. Make sure the content is fresh in your mind when your class starts.

~Have a summer project of some kind. Having a goal or project to complete just for you is a great way to fill your time. There’s nothing as satisfying as doing something just for you. There’s no one that should treat you more than you do. Treat yo self.

~Go outside. Despite what tumblr tells you, it is nice out there. Go on a hike with friends. Chill at the pool. Go to a farmer’s market. Take a road trip. The possibilities are endless! Just make sure to wear sunscreen and bring some water.

Most of summer productivity just comes right down to taking care of yourself. Summer is your time to chill; stay learning, but don’t work yourself too hard.

I’ll Wait (1/2)

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Words: 3,709

Summary (request): Bucky declares his love for Y/N on a day he shouldn’t.

Warning: Angst, but some adorableness as well.

A/N: So this was also a request by a darling who wishes to stay anonymous, she said I could write whatever I wanted and dedicate it to her, so here goes, darling. Hope you enjoy! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated, much love to you all!

Part 2

“I’m in love with you,” Bucky said as confidently as he could. His steel blue eyes were boring into yours as his heart beat at a frantic pace.

You didn’t answer him, only stared at him with a blank expression. It was only because he knew you better than you know yourself, he could see your lower lip slightly trembling.

“I know I have no right to say this to you,” he quickly added, taking a small step towards you. You didn’t move, only looked at him with stern eyes and lips pressed into a thin line.

“Especially not now,” the sadness in his words lingered hard in the room as he looked at you from head to toe. His eyes met yours again, and he knew his eyes displayed the heart-wrenching sadness he was feeling in his chest.

“But I knew I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t tell you,” he took another small step towards you and when you didn’t move, only looked at him with an unreadable expression, he slowly lifted his left hand to cup your cheek. The corners of his lips lifted in a small smile when you didn’t flinch or move. His hand was centimeters from your face when you abruptly stepped back, eyes never leaving his.

Kageyama had not been exaggerating in the slightest when he said the new room waiting for Shouyou was nice. It was nice; but so had the first one been. This new one, Shouyou would have said, was more accurately magnificent.

Now he could see why Kageyama had called it the summer room, as its true worth would be most apparent during those warmer months—for the room had a roof resting on the ornate marble columns lining its borders, but no walls. Like the pavilion, it was open on all sides, and looked out over the city and the surrounding hills of the countryside.

Shouyou did rest after his filling lunch, falling asleep easily in the enormous bed. He woke with the sun still high in the sky, about to begin its downward descent, and sat up, stretching and yawning.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, at this point, a servant seemed to materialize right as he thought of a question, and as they bowed to Shouyou, he rubbed his eyes and asked, “Where’s Ka—where is the villa’s master?”

“He is out taking his exercise,” the man replied. “Shall I bring you to him?”

“No, no…” Shouyou waved his hands. “I don’t want to disturb him!"

"It would not be unwelcome,” the servant told him. “He instructed me to deliver you into his care, as soon as you wanted to go.”

“Ah…” Shouyou said, rubbing the back of his neck. He wondered what else being in Kageyama’s care entailed. “Then, I’m ready. I’ll follow you.”

The cool summer nights were one of your favorite things about life at the moment. You made it a habit to come to this park and sit on the swing, sketching a picture out in the dim lighting of the moon.

It calmed you, being able to watch people as dusk fell over the park and they began packing their things to go home. Soon enough, you were alone in the park and added shading to a drawing of the worn down park bench across from you that you had started a couple days ago.

The chains that held the swing up creaked while your legs pushed your body back and forth, swaying softly with the wind.

You heard rushed footsteps, causing you to slam your sketchbook closed and turn your attention to the sidewalk in front of you.

Your heart was in your throat, suddenly aware of the creepy situation ahead of you.

The footsteps walked in front of you, tripping over the raised concrete on the sidewalk. You held back a giggle, immediately stepping off the swing set and rushing to the person.

“Are you okay?” You said, putting your hand on the stranger’s arm while they groaned in pain.
