Long Ass Post Regarding The Bastille Fandom and how it's really Not As Great as it's made out to be

okay

so ive seen a Lot of posts lately praising the bastille fandom for being so “nice and sweet and chill and tolerant” etc etc.
and they bother me a lot.

I have nothing against the people making these posts. they’re happy with the corner of the group that they associate with, and that’s fine.

what I do have a problem with is the posts themselves.

they make out like this fandom is so nice and peachy and perfect when if you look even a tiny little bit further away from your own friend group within it, if you scrape a tiny bit under the surface, it’s obvious this is certainly not the case, and nobody acknowledges this.
no fandom is perfect, especially not this one.

we have our fair share of sketchy disgusting shit going on.
it may not be to the level of certain others but it is there and it’s bad, and the mentality of glossing over that completely is worrying me.

I have a few points I’m gonna go over, mostly relating to this fandoms treatment of Dan, and their treatment of each other.

•1 Treatment of Dan

this is probably mostly in reference to the twitter group of the fandom but it’s bad on tumblr too hoo boy.

to put it bluntly

y'all are fucking THIRSTY
and it’s disgusting.
because Dan doesn’t have a partner that we know of publicly everyone seems to take that as him being free range and make some pretty Ugly and Disgusting comments towards him- and even worse y'all do it on twitter too, on his tweets, which he can see?
the way you talk about him really rubs me up the wrong way.

he’s a human being for god’s sake and i don’t wanna sound like your mum but ACT LIKE YOUD WANT TO BE TREATED YOURSELF.

he is not free for you to treat like you do- and a good mirror for my point of the fact he doesn’t have a partner we know of is: you don’t make those kinds of advances toward woody, do you? y'all know he’s married and you respect that, which is great. but you can’t show the same courtesy towards Dan? (and don’t try to say that woody isn’t as attractive as Dan that has nothing to do with this.).

Even worse is your harassment of anyone involved with Dan’s life like his friends especially his female friends -
the AMOUNT OF TIMES i have SEEN speculation about one of his friends or a crew member or anything being his girlfriend- and then you go and harass the poor girls?? what the fuck??? it shouldn’t matter to you if he has a partner and if he does you DONT HARASS THEM LIKE THIS.
i find it really hypocritical especially after the whole glory thing.

•1a Treatment of the boys on twitter

I’ve said something about this before but the twitter fandom is SO bad. I’m not very involved with it so i won’t make claims but they’re some of the worst i think mainly because due to the nature of twitter they have direct contact with the band.
anyway, twitter fandom is awful, not going further bc y'all know

•2 Treatment of others within the fandom

oh boy!
y'all are not all nice
as someone who floated around Heaps before i settled within the space I had within the fandom when I was a somewhat active participant in it, I can tell you that a Good Percentage of you in the tumblr section of the fandom are demons.
I’ve seen people bully and harass others, send anon hate, more and more and more and i think maybe it’s gotten worse since the second album?
the main problem is I think you’re all too overprotective of the band as a whole.

•2a Treatment of the creative side of the fandom

this place is the WORST when it comes to art theft of various incarnations Holy SHIT
you steal and repost other people’s edits, their art, their gifs, with no credit and that is Bad. You know it’s bad but do you stop? no. do you check sources? no.
you follow and reblog from accounts that repost gifs and you dont give a shit- even when the original watermarks are Right There

And let’s get back into how y'all treat Greg shall we?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it as many times as possible-
STOP STEALING HIS PHOTOS.
how have you not learned? why do i still see leaked photos going around? why do you not check the source before you reblog? why do i, to this day, see photos from the photobook online when you’ve been specifically told not to post them?

it’s ugly and disgusting how you treat creators in this place, especially Greg.

• in conclusion

there’s more to this but this is long enough already.
what bothers me the most is how nobody seems to see this? how you praise each other for being so Great and Cool?
there’s some great circles of people in here, i agree, a lot of you are really great but there’s still the other side to it there.
no fandom is purely nontoxic!! you know that!!
it’s worse here than you think it is and that’s what i want you to take away if you got through this long ass terrible post.

sorry for being the one to crash your party but it’s the hard truth and I wish more people were aware of it because this ignorance worries me.

(thanks to joyce for talking with me and helping me think out this post a bit)

anonymous asked:

hi so I was wondering if you could tell me the best way to start off writing fics on tumblr? It feels like I'm asking a stupid question but there's just so many blogs on tumblr and I always feel so silly when I post, and end up taking them down, partly because of the fact that having it sit there gets me anxious and partly because I feel like my writing is... crap. Yeah. Help?

I get this question a lot and I never know what good advice to give because I don’t think there’s something you have to do if you want to post your stories online. If you love writing and you want to share your stories with people, you should post them. Don’t doubt yourself and your writing!

  • Notes - Don’t worry about notes at all, especially if you’re just starting out. Notes don’t guarantee quality at all. I’ve read great fics with a lot less notes than they deserve, and I’ve read fics I didn’t really like that got a lot of notes. I know it sucks to post something you’ve worked hard on and not get any feedback on it, but everyone started out that way. It’s a lot easier to start if you already have some followers, or if you’re friends with someone who has a lot of followers, or if someone shouts you out. If not, you will have to start from scratch, but if you like writing, you should focus on that and not the notes. I think I’ve said this before, but when I first started writing Sin City, nobody was reading it. I liked the story that I had in my head and I wanted to write it down, even if there were only a couple of people that gave some sort of feedback on it. You just need to keep posting if you like what you’re posting, and try not to worry about the notes too much. A lack of notes doesn’t mean your stories aren’t good! Maybe people still didn’t get a chance to find out about your blog. Also, there’s a lot of people who follow you and read your stories but never give any type of feedback, and I know for a fact there are people who don’t follow you, but read your fics anyway. And when I first got into BTS, I’d read fics even though I didn’t have a Tumblr, so I couldn’t like or reblog anything. Just keep posting your stories and try not to worry about the notes too much.
  • Tagging - It’s really important to properly tag your stuff. If you’re a fic writer, there’s no need for you to tag a Jungkook story with “Yoongi smut” or “Jimin gif”. Personally, when I’m looking for something specific, I hate seeing stuff that doesn’t belong in that tag because it makes it so much harder for me to find what I’m looking for, and I’m definitely not going to click on a Jungkook smut story if I’m out there looking for a specific Jimin gif. The first five tags are the ones that show up in the search, so those are the most important ones. Tag the genre and the members that are involved.
  • Networks - I don’t know when exactly, but I joined @kwritersnet and it’s  a great network for sharing your stories with people, but also for finding new stories. Since the tags are full of things that don’t belong there, I never go through them. When I look for new stuff to read, I usually scroll through the network tag and I find something new every time. I suggest you try joining that network or a similar one - it’s a good way to meet new people and share your stories with them.
  • Asking other writers to read your stories - I see that a lot of people do this, and I’m conflicted about it. I’ve never felt confident enough to send a story of mine to someone and ask them to read it, but a lot of people have sent me their stories and I didn’t have a problem with that. The thing is, the busier you get, the less time you have for writing, let alone reading. So sometimes, writers won’t really have the time to read your story and you’ll put them in an uncomfortable position if you ask them to read something of yours when they don’t have any free time. I feel horrible when I have to turn people down, especially if I know they read my stories, but I have so many things to do that I can’t even keep up with the fics I’m already reading.
  • Feedback - This might be just me, but I feel like a lot of people on this site expect feedback even though they never actually give it. I’ve had a lot of people message me for the first time saying they love my stories and asking for me to reblog their story or read it or give feedback, which I have no problem with, but I’ve never even seen their urls before which means they never gave any type of feedback to me, whether it be likes, reblogs, asks, messages. I’m not saying you have to give feedback, but if you’re claiming you love someone’s work, why aren’t you giving them any kind of feedback, but expect them to give you some? I feel like some of these messages are just generic messages that get sent to a lot of writers at the same time, and I don’t like being treated like one out of 50 options. Besides, if you’re a writer, you know how much feedback means, even if it’s constructive criticism. If you interact with other writers, you have a better chance of them noticing your stories and checking them out. I’m saying this because I know @noona-la-la-la, for example, found my blog because I reblogged a story of hers and gave feedback in the tags. I found a lot writers that way too since I always check the tags on my stories.
  • If you follow me, you can always send me a link to your story and I’ll add it to my stories to read post :)

Good luck !! :)

Rant/Shout-outs

Okay, I posted this as an ask to @stallingdemons, but I need to actually post this for everyone to see. If you actively choose to post/send hate, especially on anon, you are a coward. It is not funny. It does not make you cool. It makes you a tremendous jerk.

Also, if you tell anyone to kill themselves, you can be fined. Whether they choose to do it or not, you can be fined. If they do decide to kill themselves, and you told them to do so, you can be charged with assisted manslaughter.

Going back to the first paragraph, I’ll state it again. If you choose to send hate, especially on anon, you are a C O W A R D. If you’re not willing to come out from behind a shitty online mask and accept the consequences of what you choose to say, maybe there’s a reason for that (like you just shouldn’t fucking say it).

When people get bullied, they don’t find it funny. They aren’t laughing with you. She you aren’t laughing with them. Your laughing AT them. And they don’t find that fun. Because it’s not.

I’m not saying that if you send hate, your gonna be a horrible person forever. I’m only saying that when you sent that message telling someone that they should kill themselves, or anything else to make them feel like shit, you were being a coward IN THAT MOMENT. Nobody is perfect. We all make shitty choices.

It high-key pisses me off really bad when I see hate being spread, but when I see it posted in anonymous asks to the blogs that I follow, the people I look up to and admire (both as authors and as human beings in general), it feels personal. And not just to them, but it feels like I’m being personally attacked, because that’s a person that I consider a role model.

Some blogs that I’ve seen receive hate are the nicest, most welcoming people I’ve met. Online or otherwise. Some of them have been more supportive of me than my own blood relatives, and they’ve encouraged and inspired me to do what makes me happy. Some such blogs are:

@honeystilinski. She’s been the most help in proofreading my stories and letting me bounce ideas off of her amazing brain. She’s also been a good friend that I can just talk to about my favorite shows. ❤I appreciate you, Tay.

@stilinskiimagines has also been super sweet and encouraging when it comes to my writing. We haven’t talked much, but she is awesome. I reblogged one of her (adorable) stories, tagging and jokingly scolding her for keeping me up all night, just reading her fics. I definitely didn’t expect her to respond, especially by making jokes with me like we were old friends and encouraging my writing.

@fillthevoid-stilinski is one of the first blogs I actually followed, and I have never regretted that decision. She’s really kind and an amazing writer as well. Although we don’t talk as much as we initially did, I still consider her an awesome person.

@avengersandchill writes the cutest headcanons ever, I swear to God my heart explodes every time I read her writing. Some of the cutest, sweetest shit ever.

@bladebarnes has the most badass name, first of all. I can’t believe people make fun of her for her name because having Blade for a name is just mind-blowingly kick-ass. Also, an amazing writer and v sweet little muffin. Headcanons are also kick-ass, and whenever she updates about her and her boyfriend, they almost always make me laugh.

@bonniebird is yet another freaking amazing writer that I wish I knew better (as are all these ladies ❤). Such a sweetheart, and she writes ridiculously well

There are so many more writers that I absolutely adore on Tumblr, and I just wanted to let a few of them know that they never deserve hate, and I support them. I know this was probably lame and it probably dragged on, but it was either post this or stay angry. Love you guys ❤

So recently I see a lot more reposts then before. It might be because if the new fans, new people on tumblr and all that. So here is a little bit of information on why you should reblog and not repost.

First things first.

“Wat is reposting?"

Reposting is when you take an image, art work, graphic, gif… that isn’t yours (Read as; not made, edited, created… by you) and upload it onto your own account. Simple as that. Reblogging is when you press the little arrows on a post, so it goes onto your blog and adds to the notes on the original post. So you’re ‘sharing’ it without uploading it again.

Now, a more prominent question.

"Why is reposting wrong?”

There are many reasons to why this is wrong. Reasons different for every person, reason people often don’t see as a reason to why this is wrong. Let me list a few.

  • You take away credit from the original poster.
  • It is no sign of respect to any artist.
  • The same image turns up over and over again in a tag, which is really annoying.
  • People assume you edited/created the art you uploaded, the original creator gets no credit.
  • The no credit thing is really a thing to keep in mind.
  • A lot of work was put into it, even if it is just a gif. Even when it appears as a simple edit to you. People do these things because they want to. Because they like it. Because they feel the need to contribute something to the fandom they are in. And maybe even because they want some recognition and notes. For you to take all of that away, is simply rude and disrespectful.
  • It actually counts as copyright violation. Something people often forget is a ‘crime.’ I’ll go into this later on in this post.

So those are just some of the reasons to why reposting is wrong. Now, speaking out of my own experiences, reposters often don’t take this as a reason. They often hold these things up against is, making us, the artist, feel like /we/ did something wrong by pointing out they reposted. It happens all of the time. I’ll list a few things I have come across to, answers people gave me when I politely asked them not to repost, and to take down my graphic/edit. I’ll also explain to why I believe what they said, was wrong.

“I didn’t stole anything from you, I never even visited your page!.”

This you’ll hear very often when you are dealing with reposters. They probably never even seen your Tumblr. Which still doesn’t give them the right to do whatever they did. There’s a lot of sources to where they could have found your artwork. Think about google images, weheartit, pininterest… and so on. I will list and explain all of these later on in the post. Anyway, it doesn’t matter whether you have visited the website or not, it gives you no right to repost whatever it is you have reposted.

“But I credited you, look there’s a little link."

Another thing you’ll often see/hear. People indeed do that sometimes, repost your thing and put a source underneath. Now.. Let me tell you this; mostly the source is wrong and it wouldn’t lead to your original post at all. And second, people don’t care about that. 99% of people on here wouldn’t take a second to check wether you actually created that or not. Especially not when you put a link and still make the source connect to your own page. Speaking about this, reposting something when you actually know the original post makes everything, imltho, even worse. You know where the edit is, you know who made it… Why don’t you just reblog it? Why don’t just just click two times and have it on your blog. Why do you feel the need to go through the entire upload thing when all you have to do is click two times and have it on your blog? I assume people do this to gain notes/followers… And that is rather pathetic and once more disrespectful, because the person who created the thing that has been reposted deserves that credit and those notes/followers.

"You should be thankful, look it has …. notes now!”

No. We artists should NOT and I repeat NOT be thankful for you reposting our art AT ALL. If anything, we should be offended. Which most of the time we are and we have every right to be. Reposting is not a way of appreciating you love the thing we did, reposting is not something we should be thankful for.

Those are just some of the most common things I have come across from. Believe me, I have seen about everything by now. I also found, people are incredibly rude when you point them out they have reposted something. I barely ever come across someone who friendly replies. Of course, there have been some. But they really are outnumbered by the amount of times people shouted, called me names or whatever for just asking them to take down MY piece of art. If you want to know a few things; they involve calling my followers psycho bitches for letting me know about the repost, saying I cyber bully, saying I was causing them to feel suicidal. Yes. It really goes that far.

Recently I found a lot if people putting together gifs/edits that aren’t theirs in a photoset, but claim they made the photoset. This also is reposting. This also is wrong. And so is taken an already edited image and just putting it into black and white.

Anyway, to carry on, as I said earlier there are a few things people consider as a source, which isn’t really a source. Here’s a list.

  • Weheartit: This website is probably the worse thing ever for an artist. Basically everything on there is stolen and credited in a wrong way. It gives an easy opportunity to repost things you find on there on Tumblr and it automatically creates a source that goes back to weheartit. Now I know it’s easy to find things on there, but please, keep them on there. They are already stolen once, please don’t do it a second time. So now all repeat after me: weheartit is NOT a source.
  • Google Images: Yeaa, we all did this I guess. Googled our favourite show/ship/anything. You’ll find load of great images, art work, edits… It is alright to save them to your computer. But it is not okay to reupload them. Follow the link you find on google, find out where it comes from and usually you’ll end up on some sort of Tumblr. Yes I know, it takes a /little/ bit of effort. But still not as much effort as it takes to repost the entire thing.
  • Instagram: Aaah, instagram is like a repost heaven. Or hell. I’d call it hell. If you go through the Sherlock tag on there, you won’t see much original posts. Graphic after graphic, edit after edit gets reposted. On top of it, IG doesn’t come with a good report system like tumblr does. All we can do is ask them, but really. This drives me crazy more then anything. Because people won’t listed at all. As long as they gain followers though things they haven’t made, all is well. Fuck people who spent hours on what they just claimed as theirs. (Just to make sure, that was sarcasm.)

Well, those are pretty much the main things about reposting. There’s a million more things to it and I could write/complain about it all night, but yea… Let’s move on to things YOU can do to prevent this.

  • Take a second to look at the source.

Please do this. If you see the source is weheartit, or IF there is a tag/URL on the image you see and it IS NOT the same as the source, please do not reblog it. Don’t spread those reposts, instead either message the original poster OR just message the blog who reposted and FRIENDLY (always friendly. Never hate.) ask them not to repost. If necessary explain them why, they might not know.

  • Find the original post instead of reblogging the repost.

Yeaaaa I know, this sounds like a lot of effort too. And ain’t nobody got time for that, but you would really show your feelings towards a graphic/artwork if you did this instead of reblogging the reposted version. If there’s an URL on the image, you can just go to that tumblr and most artist have a tag for their art on their blog so it’s easy to find. If that isn’t the case, grab the URL of the image (right click, copy image URL) and take it to google images. Once there, you see this little camera in the right corner. You should click that and you’ll get this:

External image

Past your URL there and 9/10 times you will find the original post.
  • If all else fails, and the person doesn’t have an ask. Please report them to tumblr. Don’t be afraid to do so. Just contact the suport and send the the links of your original post and the reposters. They will take it down. Click here and read more.

The Evil With WTF - A Timeline and Ending Explanation Theory

Hello, Tumblr. I really loved The Evil Within. I’m a big fan of old timey survival horror in the vein of classic RE (which this was a love letter to,) and I also love solving mysteries. Ever since I finished the game, my bro dragoncampaign and I have been poring over transcripts and screenshots and evidence, and we’ve pieced together what we believe to be a pretty solid theory about what, exactly, the fuck is going on here. I will also be attempting to answer the most common questions I’ve seen about the game that I am fairly certain of the answers to. I will be explaining all this with screenshots and in-game evidence where necessary (because you can say anything you want on the internet if you have evidence to back it up.) I’ll try to credit other tumblrs from who I snagged the pictures, too.

Obviously this post is going to be RIFE WITH SPOILERS, so I have tagged it appropriately. Do not look below the cut if you haven’t finished the game. And obviously, I know as much as anybody else does about all this business, so don’t take this as 100% the gospel truth. We won’t know that until the DLC, most likely. I would love to hear other ideas on all of this, so feel free to send me an ask or reblog this with your thoughts as well.

Without further ado… what the fuck was all that?

What happened in Bahrain, and what it cost

CONFESSION: I love reading tags. The xkit-extension tag viewer is possibly my favorite thing on tumblr, because most of the time it’s the only way I can find out people’s reactions to anything I post. (People adding their own commentary actually sends me over the fricking moon, because it turns my opinion into a conversation and that’s 10000000x more fun.)

So anyway, I was reading the tags on reblogs of this Melinda May meta that I posted about That Thing That Happened in Bahrain, and I found out that some people found the Bahrain reveal underwhelming.

Like, what.

What.

I have feelings about this. So many feelings. Get comfortable, friend, because I’m about to spill them all over you.

If you found the incident in Bahrain underwhelming, if you weren’t impressed at all, you may have watched the episode wanting to find out why people call May the Cavalry. For my part, I went in hoping to discover why she kept telling them not to.

Felicity tells it straight to the Team

Summary: Like many members of the fandom, there was one thing I really didn’t like in Arrow 4x01, Thea and even Laurel behaviour. They go to Ivy Town and bring Oliver back to Star City (with a little help from Felicity) but when in Star City all the team are treating Oliver badly (Thea, Laurel and Diggle). What’s up with that? We all know Oliver is probably going to take it in silent. This fanfic is about Felicity not taking it anymore and tell them like it is.

Find it in AO3

Felicity was getting fed up. She had done all she could for the team. They never complain, while both Oliver and her were gone, about the support she was providing them.

She was happy to give it, she liked to help, but she was also quite aware that the time she spent on the computers helping them was time she wasn’t spending with Oliver. It was a sacrifice she had been willing to make but a sacrifice, nonetheless. The last thing she expected was to witness the dreadful behaviour the team was having towards Oliver.

Oliver took it, silently. She was his refuge, he could take it when she was there and, normally, she was but then there were times she wasn’t and when she got back she could see the distress in Oliver’s eyes. And Felicity had just about enough.

She had been more than willing to speak up when Oliver had doubts about coming back to Star City. Felicity was now more than willing to do just the opposite.

That night Oliver was a bit late from the night runs and Felicity took the opportunity at hand.

“I need to ask a question and I need you…” she pointed to Laurel and Thea “… to answer truthfully.”

Laurel and Thea exchanged a quizzical glance before Thea answered.

“Yeah sure.”

“Why did you come to Ivy Town?”

A confused look was set on both women faces.

“We needed Oliver’s help.”

“See that’s what I don’t get. Now you have his help and you treat him like you rather he was anywhere but here. So I ask again why did you come to Ivy Town?”

“I don’t treat Ollie that way. He’s my brother, I love him.”

“You really are going to do this to my face, Thea? Really?”

“Are you calling me a liar?”

“No, I’m asking you to respect me enough to consider my words before giving me an answer you don’t really know if it is the truth.”

Felicity could see Oliver point on Thea’s behaviour. Dig couldn’t see it for he saw the evolution on a day to day basis, for them the evolution of Thea’s behaviour had taken a shocking turn to the uncontrollable during the 5 months they were away. So Felicity was careful with her words.

Thea shut up and looked up to Laurel.

Laurel was silent. She felt the acute stab of truth as soon as Felicity issued it.

“Felicity’s right, Thea. We asked Oliver to come. We don’t have the right to treat him badly now, when he’s just doing what we ask him to do.”

“No, she’s not.” Felicity had intently kept Diggle out of this conversation. His problem with Oliver was of a different nature and it had to be addressed differently. But now he took upon himself to step in.

“You asked for his help. You can ask him to leave.”

“I don’t want my brother to leave. We need him.”

“There’s nothing he’s doing that we cannot do ourselves. I told you that before, I will stick to it.”

“Okay then.” It was Felicity turn “We are unwelcome in Star City.”

“Felicity, you are welcome. You are valuable member of this team.”

Felicity turned and smile to Diggle.

“I thought from everyone here you wouldn’t be the one saying those words. You are the only one, in fact, that can understand it to the fullest. There’s no Felicity, there’s Oliver and Felicity, we are a unit, just like you and Lyla.”

Trough Diggle’s eyes she was aware of the moment he saw the mistake he just made.

Felicity got up slowly and took her hand bag “Thank you for your answers. They were quite enlightening.”

“Felicity…” Diggle stopped there, he couldn’t say much of anything anymore. He wished Oliver wasn’t there, he wanted Felicity to be there but he knew one came with the other just like him and Lyla.

“I’ll go and talk to Ollie.” Thea had come up with the simplest solution she could think of.

“And say what, Thea? That he’s constantly making remarks about your life, guess what, he’s your brother, he’s worried about you and he loves you too damn much to stop caring.”

“Don’t go.” it was Laurel quiet voice.

“I’ll go if Oliver wants to go, I’ll stay if Oliver wants to stay. It will be his choice and only his choice. I rather be happy just with him that watch him be miserable because his family…” she looked at Thea “… his friends…” she looked at Diggle “…treat him like some nuisance.”

Oliver was up the stairs where he had arrived about time to hear Thea respond to Felicity first question. He wanted to come down and stop the conversation but he just froze.

Felicity’s tone was one he hadn’t heard before and it was painful to hear. By the end of it he knew he loved that women more than life itself.

What she didn’t know was he couldn’t leave Star City, even if he wanted too, Damian Dahrk was too much of a threat to all the World and not only Star City, besides he couldn’t find it in his heart to leave Thea in a time she needed him the most.

He started walking down as soon as he heard Felicity’s heels tapping on the floor.

“Ollie…”

“No need, Thea” he turned to Felicity “Give me a minute to change.”

“I’ll wait… outside in the car.” three pairs of eyes followed her out.

“Oliver, she’s upset…”

He didn’t talk, he just looked into Diggle’s eyes, who immediately turned silent, and moved on to take off the Green Arrow attire.

All three of them were waiting when he got back. And then he talked.

“We are members of this team, if you want us to be. It’s fine if you don’t. I guess you have a decision to make just like we do. I’m going to take the suite and Felicity’s things, that way you are free from us right now if that’s what you decide to do.”

“Ollie. We need you. We need your help.” Thea voice embodied a desperate ring to it that made hard on Oliver to follow through with the decision.

“Maybe you do, maybe you don’t, that’s not for me to say, it’s for you three to decide. Now if you excuse me my girlfriend is waiting.”

As Oliver left Dig, Laurel and Thea turn to each other.

“Dig, what should we do?”

On a tactical sense Diggle recognized Oliver’s value but he had a hard time dealing with his personal feelings about him.

For Thea she felt the need to have her brother there for balance, to have ground, to have family. In the field he was a precious asset for the team.

Laurel was struggling to accept this new Oliver that she never could conjured the days they were together. The perfect boyfriend she dreamt all her life but that was hidden in Ollie only for Felicity to find and always hidden from her. As an asset in the field he was useful.

As for Felicity they all agreed they needed her help, no question about that.

Oliver sat behind the wheel of the car. It was raining outside and Felicity felt unusually cold.

“You heard?”

“Yes.”

“Sorry. But I couldn’t take it anymore.”

He smile “I don’t understand.”

“What?”

“Why you’re sorry. You have no reason to be. I’m the one that is sorry. I should have had this talk with them before.”

“It’s your sister, your ex-girlfriend and someone who’s like a brother to you. You are strong, Oliver, but nobody is that strong.”

“So you stepped in.”

“They are hurting us, Oliver. They are hurting both of us and I thought it was time to make that clear.”

“You made it abundantly clear, Felicity.”

“What did you tell them?”

“That they have to decide what they want.”

“Want to leave Star City, Oliver? We’ll leave. Today if you like.”

“No. We can’t leave. The city needs us.”

“Than…”

“Than we wait and see what they decide.”

Tumblr Swiftie Rant....

Okay.. Here I go.. Beginning something controversial… Some of you are going to dislike me for this and that’s okay and some of you might agree.. Let me start off with the fact that I love this fandom, I love Taylor and I love this little community on tumblr. When I joined at the end of May it seemed like the most wonderific thing in the world. And I still think it’s great thing and place. It became my safe spot and the place where I could go and be happy and talk to so many people who feel the same about Taylor as I do. And I have made SOOO SOOO SOO many friends who I love so much and honestly don’t think I could go a whole day without them. I love seeing all their beautiful faces and sharing the little bits and pieces of our lives with each other and our conversations. I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I love you guys.

As I said, I came on here in May…. After Taylor did. But that was NOT the reason that I made an all Taylor account. (I had had a tumblr before but I found that blog becoming more and more Taylor centered. So I figured make a new blog so my other followers didn’t have to be bombarded with Taylor [even though they should’ve appreciated it;] and I would operate both blogs. That plan didn’t work. I found myself always on my Taylor blog and never on my other one so this summer I deleted that other one) At that time in my life, and still now actually, I was having some trouble with my “friends.” Most of them aren’t very… accepting of my love for Taylor and a few of them aren’t very kind about it. I don’t have any friend or anyone at my school who really likes Taylor and coming on her… It was like walking into a dream-land where everyone understands you and is kind and appreciating and loving. And I loved it. And I made friends who actually understood me and talked to me and listened. People who didn’t tell me to “shut up” when I was excited about something that I love. That was May. June.. June was a great month too, More friends and nice people and it was great! Then at the end of the month… The one thing that I never expected to happen happened out of the blue. I was freaking out and super-duper excited over Tayvin as you do.. And at one thirty in the morning Taylor must have decided that my fangirl comments were funny or something and she decided to hit that follow button.. And I’ve never been more THANKFUL for something in my life (besides for my parents for taking care of me and me actually finding Taylor and my little sister). I never expected that to happen and it still is sort of shocking. Because I didn’t do anything to deserve that. I never expected it or even thought it would happen. There are thousands of people on here. Thousands of wonderful people on here. And honestly… None of us.. None of us.. Have done anything to earn that button. Nobody really deserves that.

I know that some of you may disagree and that is really why I wanted to write this.. In the past few months I have seen some things and sorta ignored them and put them out of my thought because there’s always going to be some negative things in the world. And that’s okay.. It can’t all be sunshine and rainbows. But I think it’s come to far when people are demanding things of others and sending hate.. And trying to… Take advantage? (I don’t know if those are the right words but they are the ones I am going to use) Of Taylor. I have received hundreds, if not thousands of messages this summer asking for something. A lot of them are polite and decent and I appreciate that so much. But an overwhelming amount… An overwhelming amount have not been nice of polite, some people have acted like I (and I’m pretty sure plenty of others on here who may have received the same messages as me) am required to do as they say and reblog what they ask. But actually.. I am not. I personally will reblog any and all concert costumes because people have taken so much time and dedication for those and they deserve to be seen! Also I will reblog a few other things if people are polite about it.. But my personal belief… Is that if Taylor is going to see your post.. I think she should see it because other people choose to reblog it without being messaged and it comes across her dash or she finds you on a tag or something.. I think that she should somehow find it herself. To me… It just feels a little bit less genuine when people send the same message to everyone asking them to reblog it and tag her in it. But that is just my personal opinion, nobody has to agree with me on it. It is the reason why I don’t reblog a lot of what people ask me to. And that is my personal option on here. I know people who will reblog only their own things on here and some who will reblog everything that people ask them too either out of kindness or that they feel they are required to. The thing with this that I believe is NOT okay is when people don’t reblog what someone asked them to or they don’t really reblog other peoples stuff and they get hatemail for it.

Hatemail in any shape or form is not okay. No matter what. Nobody deserves that.. NOBODY. And I have sadly seen an increasing amount of it. Whether it be for not reblogging things or because someone met Taylor or received a follow from her.. Something that for the life of me I CAN NOT comprehend why someone would do that.. They should be HAPPY for them! That is a GREAT thing and deserves celebrating!! Hate and enmity are NOT nice things at all. And I feel like there has been so much of it floating around here. When I find came on there was rarely anything and now.. Honestly.. I rarely come on compared to what I used to. I feel like there is such a negative tone and mood over everything and I don’t like seeing it or feeling it. This.. Is supposed to be a happy fandom. A supportive fandom… Not one that tears each other down and sends hate. I honestly.. I feel ashamed of being in this fandom sometimes.. I feel ashamed that I am a part of this community that hates and also that doesn’t seem to be thankful for what they have.

I think we all agree that Taylor is the most TAYMAZING person in this entire world.. So is so so so kind and loving and cute and talented and can any of you imagine what your life would be without her in it? I know that I can’t… She has been apart of my life for about 10 years now and I honestly can’t imagine my life without her in it and I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to be able to live in the same life time as her, to have the opportunity to listen to her music, to be her fan. I am so thankful that she is a kind person and wants to do nice things for her fans and loves us so much. I am thankful that I have a role model who is supportive and humane and generous. I am thankful for Taylor and all that she does because she.. SHE IS NOT REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING. SHE DOESN’T OWE US. Yes, we are her fans… And we buy her albums but she is not required to do all that she does.. She doesn’t owe us that.

Taylor does not have to put out music.. She chooses to. And if she decided to stop.. That is okay. I would be sad. But I would support her and be thankful as I already am thank I have been able to experience the music that she has already decided to put out and share with us.

Taylor does not have to go on tour. She does not have to have an exhausting schedule and play show after show. She chooses to because she wants us to have the opportunity to see her and I think she likes to see us.When Taylor is on tour she does not have to give away free meet and greets or seat upgrades. She chooses to. Because we are her fans and she loves us and wants to meet us as much as we want to meet her.

Taylor is not required to come on here or instagram or twitter or wherever else she goes on.. (flash back to myspace days..) She is not required to share any pieces of her life with us.. But she chooses to. She is also not required to interact with us.. She doesn’t have to follow us on tumblr or like our posts. She doesn’t have to give us advice or take screenshots of us on her phone.. None of it.. But she chooses to because she wants to.. She loves us and cares for us and likes seeing us and spending time with us and talking with us.

Taylor is not required to send us Christmas presents. No matter how cool it is, and how much I, as well as everybody else I’m sure would love one.. She doesn’t owe it to us.. Just because she did it last year.. Does not mean she is required to do it this year. Taylor doesn’t have to send us presents. Last year she chose to. And those people are so lucky! But she does not have to do it this year just because she did it last year.. She didn’t even have to do it last year… But she chose to because she wanted to send those people some things and share those gifts with them! That is such an amazing thing…

Taylor is not required to invite people.. much less fans to her houses… She’s not even required to tell anyone where they are.. But she did.. She chose to invite people to her houses and not just that.. But to bake them cookies and yet food and take pictures and to talk to them. To let them use her bathroom and hold her cats and awards and sit on her furniture… Most fans would have to get through high security systems to do that.. They would have to illegally break and enter to do that.. And be arrested because it is against the law… But Taylor invited them to do that. She chose to let them into her house and not only to eat food and to talk and meet her… But to also listen to her new album before it is even out. Taylor is not required to do that. At all.. Most people would say she’s crazy… She trusted all of those people into her home and with her pets and furniture and awards… And she trusted them.. Trusted us… To not spill. To not leak the album or say anything specific about any of the songs or anything.. And guess what.. They didn’t. That is so so so amazing.. But she didn’t have to do that.. She was not required in any way shape or form to do that or to trust those people in that way.. But she did. Because she wanted to.

Taylor is not required to be in our lives. If she wanted to she has the option to walk right out. She was never required to be here in the first place but she chose to. In the beginning.. In the middle.. And now. Even when times were tough and everyone seemed to be throwing so many bricks that we could build a gigantic castle… She stuck through it. She sticks through the paparazzi and scrutiny and the critics.. And she doesn’t have to. She doesn’t have to be here and she doesn’t have to do all that she does for us. What other fans get to experience what we do? Honestly? Think about it? None. She doesn’t have to do it all.. And she seems to keep outdoing herself which she doesn’t have to do either. But she chooses to. And we should be so so so thankful for what we have gotten so far not just wanting and waiting for more.. Because Taylor is not required and she does not owe us. Which is why it makes me so sad when I see the hate and the negativity and relentless nagging and unappreciative people.. We should be spreading happiness and kindness and positivism.. Making new friends and building each other up, not down.. But most of all we should be showing our appreciation.

One day.. She might decide that she doesn’t want this life anymore. Maybe she will want to travel and actually see the world for once.. Maybe she will want to do nothing for a whole long time.. Maybe she wants to spend more time with her family or even start her own. Maybe.. Maybe she just wants to take a small break. All those things… Those things are okay. Because Taylor’s life is her own. Taylor is not required to do anything for us. And when that day might come. I will be sad. Most likely cry some tears. But I will be okay with it because I have gotten so much already.

I am so thankful for what I have been lucky to receive and to experience so far. Everyday I think about and can’t imagine how my life would be without Taylor. I don’t know where I would be without her songs and her kindness. Her generosity and personality. Taylor and my mom are my two biggest role-models in this world and I can not think of any two better people to have that title. Thank you Taylor for all that you do for us and I am sorry if we seem ungrateful to you. I try everyday to be the best person I can be because I learned that from you. You have helped make me me and helped me get through my meager 15 years of life so far. And I know that you will help me get through the rest of my days. Thank you for being a good role-model, for showing me to be thankful for what I have.. For displaying kindness and generosity in your life.. For your beautiful music.. Thank you for being there and for making us so so so happy.. For being our friends, for the presents, the surprises the music, the concerts, the happiness… You don’t owe us any of that but you chose to and we can never ever repay you. Thank you for making us proud and for being you. I love you.

And to the people on here… I love you too.

and also, i would like to further say having days similar to blackout is not necessary degrading it, but perhaps empower it? usually if a movement is powerful enough, its idea will spread and travel all over, and many will adopt it (without taking away the original credit as much as we can help). For example, Ghandi adopted his ideas inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. and the hands up don't shoot movement showed up during protesting in Hong Kong. Big ideas make big impacts? It's not bad?

cont: i would like to apologize for the early ask, which was definitely rude of me, but i would also politely disagree with your way of thinking. as much as i no longer find the necessity of having an asianinvationday, i would like to disagree with you all, when you said that day intention was to compare, or disrespecting blackout. if it anyway is any of those negative terms, the black community themselves would be the one who most outspoken against it. it seems like a tumblr’s cultural appropriation

mod note:

Oh my god. You again. Alright here we go:

If you haven’t seen Black people talking about how Asianinvasion is an appropriation of Blackout then that’s your bad. I’ve seen them. The other mods have seen them. We’re also keeping in mind the fact that Black struggles and the tactics of Black activist movements have been appropriated by other marginalized groups over and over again. And it has led to the erasure of Black struggles over and over again. If you don’t know anything about that, idgaf.

“big ideas make big impacts? It’s not bad?” Nobody ever said they were “bad.” EVER. Is that all things are to you?? Bad or good?? You have a very naïve view of activism.

I’ve been a mod on AAGU since it started over two years ago. Something that keeps happening throughout the AFAD’s we’ve had is predators and porn blogs reblogging images that community members send in. And/or participants end up getting sexually explicit messages in their inbox because some fetishizing piece of shit happens to see their AFAD pic.  It’s bad enough if it happens to anyone, but when it happens to our underage followers I GET SO FUCKING ANGRY. That shit is damaging as fuck and turns something that’s supposed to be healing into something that hurts. Letting everyone in on AFAD means more visibility to vulnerable people like underage girls. So no, I don’t want everyone to tag their shit AFAD because predators will hop on that shit so fucking fast. I have seen it happen. If ignoring your desire to have your face plastered on other peoples’ blogs is what it takes to protect these girls and non-binary kids, then it’s a tiny, inconsequential trade-off.

Which goes back to what I said before, that this sudden desire to have #asianinvasion or a Tumblr-wide AFAD is SHORTSIGHTED AND SELFISH AS FUCK. What happens after the first Tumblr-wide AFAD? Another AFAD? What about the young girls who receive sexually explicit messages and get reblogged onto porn sites? Should they just not participate anymore? What about people who get hate mail for their looks? What about the people who get hatemail for using their selfie to talk about their illness? What will we do for them? What will you do for the people who will be hurt by the “big movement” you want so badly? Who don’t have a great experience with it? WHAT?

We have a decent system here for caring for the people who end up getting burned by their AFAD. Keeping it small means we’re better able to care for this community. You and the people who think like you are selfish as fuck. Coming to the inbox to ask how “the movement” can get tailored to you without giving anything of yourself in return and without even bothering to think critically of any privileges you may have, or bothering to learn. -Kat

How does one get lots of followers?

i feel like answering this honestly for once so here you go

When i started my blog in 2009 i didn’t really understand tumblr at first and like pretty much everyone ever i wanted a lot of followers. At the time I’d reblog whatever I thought was pretty and post stuff from weheartit (don’t do that) but basically I got my first 1000 or so followers by following every single blog I could find. I ended up following i think about 5000 people and lots of them followed me back. I don’t think it works that way anymore really and if it does it’s not worth it, they won’t care for the stuff you post anyway.

I think it depends on what you want your blog to be. Right from the beginning strictly reblogging other people’s posts wasn’t what I wanted to do and while I did start out posting stuff from weheartit which you should never ever ever do (I don’t care who you are don’t do it), after a few people on anon explaining to me why sourcing photography is important I switched to flickr and then later added content from behance as well, and I’m still doing that today.

If you’re into the just reblogging stuff thing instead of finding your own content then I can’t really tell you how it works. It just depends. I have a personal blog where all I do is reblog stuff and lots of it is kinda educational/social justice-y but there’s funny stuff and cute stuff and sometimes naked people and just idk stuff and photography/art I like and it works.

If your blog is just stuff you reblog I’d say make sure your theme fits. That’s so important, like seriously important. Don’t make it too colorful unless you know what you’re doing, if you’re here for the followers don’t have autoplay on your theme, if you want people to be interested in your blog when they’re on it for the first time don’t have a theme with 12353462 columns (maybe that’s just personal preference but those are the worst in my opinion)

What I did is I always went on blogs I liked and kind of just paid attention to what they made their blog look like. I always based the theme I used on other people’s themes until I figured it out myself. Maybe see who made the theme your favorite blog uses and look at the other themes that person has released.

Don’t be a dick to people. Don’t be a dick to people. Don’t. Seriously. Unless they deserve it. Otherwise, no. And talk to as many people as you can. Message them, say hi. Introduce yourself. I’ve made so many friends on here and it’s so worth it. They help with people finding your blog, too. But that’s not what you should make friends here for. And don’t ask everyone to “have a look at your blog” unless they state somewhere that they’re okay with it.

I don’t really think there’s much else you can do besides corresponding with people and making sure your blog looks good. Sometimes you just have to be lucky. Oh and please don’t be one of those people that remove sources/captions when they reblog something. That’s so disrespectful I don’t even.

If you post content you find on websites such as flickr/deviantart/behance/500px and don’t reblog other people’s posts from your dashboard much, always always always a l w a y s make sure your posts are sourced right. I’m so tired of people putting their urls in the click-through/the source link. I don’t care that you found the photo, it’s not yours. Nobody cares. Stop.

Let’s say you want to strictly post landscape photography, or design, or art, or portraits, anything that falls under a category in the featured tags. There are editors like myself for those and we are willing to feature your stuff if you come to us with links. Personally, I’m always happy to have people submit their posts to me, especially when they’re not very well-known blogs. Let’s be honest, we’re all too lazy to find them ourselves so you’re making our “work” a lot easier like that. Just don’t over-do it. If the person you send something to doesn’t respond/lets you know they’re not interested, don’t be rude.

I don’t know. I think it’s way more important for you to just enjoy the blogging experience instead of worrying about followers and all that. Make friends, find out what you want your blog to be like. Everything else will come to you. This isn’t really supposed to be serious. Unless you post your own work or you’re trying to make money off your blog. But that’s a different story, I can’t really help with that. Blah.
