No Shame, No Pain, No Gain. On Saturday, July 12th, 2014, the Teen Diaries Foundation’s PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT program and nearly 100 teen girls and young women joined youtube sensation Shameless Maya for a fun fitness challenge called Gym Rat Race at Central Park in NYC. While local residents happily walked their dogs and completed their morning runs, heads turned to see dozens of dedicated girls, including teen model / fitness enthusiast @thecleopatralee connect through the power of fitness. SECRET SUPER FRUIT | Apples are so versatile and have many ways of improving your health!

Add them to Oatmeal because this combo contains fiber that lowers your cholesterol, by soaking up water to remove excess cholesterol and toxins in the body.

Dunk slices into almond butter to get a great combo of vitamin C & E and keep your skin nice and clear. Vitamin C is responsible for collagen in the body to keep you wrinkle and sun damage free!

Mix them in your salad with strawberries, almonds, and chickpeas with a bed of spinach and romaine. This will keep your body flowing properly and help with digestion.

Place one chopped apple into your next smoothie recipe to help you feel full for hours! Gala, Pink Lady, Golden Delicious or Fuji are great varieties if you aren’t into a tart apple. Apples contain Pectin, which is a fiber that swells in the stomach to help combat hunger and cravings.

NOTE TO SELF: Relax. As the fall semester begins, so will the stress of the college workload and with a multiplying to do lists, it is easy to forget to just relax. On August 28th, 2014, University at Buffalo’s PGS Ambassadors Jessica (@aubonbain) and Kayla (@kayla.alyak) took advantage of the beautiful Buffalo, NY weather and did some yoga between classes. The warm sun and relaxing breeze helped Jessica find her center through the eagle pose while Kayla strengthened her core by perfecting her tripod handstand. “Yoga allows you to put all the chaos around you on pause and be still,” said PGS Ambassador Kayla. Additionally, it is an amazing way to relieve stress so even if you have to write yourself a reminder: breathe in, breathe out, and relax.

PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT | Fitness is not only fun but great for your body! If that is not enough of a reason to sweat, here are four more!

1. Skin: Sweat helps with toxins built up in your pores keeping it nice and clear, plus aiding in elasticity and tone by encouraging blood flow.

It may be safe to say that college students are the masters of multitasking. This is definitely true for Brittne Jackson. This 21 year old is not only a full time college student but also a figure competitor, Certified Personal Trainer and Herbalife Health and Wellness Coach. Brittne, known by her IG name @brittnebabe has been a natural born athlete since middle school participating in sports such as cross country and track and field. Skylar Diggins was born on August 2, 1990 in South Bend, Indiana. The lady hooper has been a force to be reckoned with for quite sometime now. During her time as a student at Washington High School, where she started all four years, she led the Panthers team four consecutive championship games averaging 29 points a game and was a two-time Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the year. After high school, Skylar attended the University Notre Dame where she continued to excel and grow in popularity. During her time in Notre Dame, she was named All-American each of her four years, setting countless school records for career points, steals and double figure scoring games. At the end of her college career, in 2013, she was named the all-time Notre Dame leading scorer with 2,357 points. That same year, Skylar was drafted third overall by the Tulsa Shock and signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports in 2013, joining NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz and MLB second baseman Robinson Cano!
