Classroom Distractions

This is almost entirely fluff as a break from a really angsty one-shot I’ve also been working on.  I have some other stuff in the works (including a canon one-shot, AU one-shot, and multi-chap), but I thought I’d get this out.  Hope you enjoy!

Summary: Professor Killian Jones’ history lecture gets a surprise visitor. (NOT StudentxProfessor)

Everybody taking one of Professor Killian Jones’ lectures knew Mrs. Jones.  Or, if they didn’t know she was actually his wife, they knew the blonde woman who he called “Swan” and who occasionally snuck into the room and made their professor’s always excited grin grow even wider.

She first appeared in the middle of his Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance Political Theory lecture about three lectures into the class.  About one-third of the female population was drooling over the handsome professor with the accent talking about the Spartan system of government when the blonde woman slid into the room and sat in the chair behind his desk as he lectured in front of the projector.

The students who first noticed her assumed she was an older student who was either playing a prank or trying to catch the eye of Professor Jones by doing something bold. However, when the man caught sight of her, he merely smiled and asked, “Well, Swan, since you seem so eager to learn, can you tell me who first imposed this code of laws on Sparta?”

She frowned thoughtfully and responded, “Lucretius?”

He chuckled. “Lycurgus, love.  But I can tell you’re listening.”  He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of her head before turning back to his class.  “Let’s go ahead and take our break now.  Five minutes and be back here.”

EPILOGUE

Emma squinted, angling the paintbrush clockwise a little, and took one last swipe against the tape. There! Letting out the breath she’d been holding and sitting back on her heels, she looked with admiration on her work. After three weeks of scraping paint on evenings and weekends, then another two of standing on ladders with a pole or a paintbrush, the front porch was finally done, even the wooden bits that sat right against the siding.

“Moooooom! I need help!” came the insistent call from inside the house, making her start. But then she laughed, shaking her head as she recognized that tone of voice.

@athos-silvani you gave me an idea. an adoribull idea

“I can’t believe I’m being held hostage in my own home by a bird.” Dorian stares bitterly out the window. The day is perfectly warm and sunny, but there are swans in his garden.

Bull comes up behind him, wrapping his arms around Dorian’s waist. “Were you planning on leaving?”

“Not a second sooner than I have to, Amatus.” He accepts a kiss on his cheek. “It would just be nice to walk outside without having my ankles snapped at by a bad-tempered feather duster.”

“You just need to give it some time. At least they don’t let burglars anywhere near the house.”

Dorian sighs. “What heroic creatures they are. We should buy them golden collars and name our villa after their flock.”

Bull laughs. “You could change the Pavus crest to be a swan instead of a peacock. Hang a portrait of Melvin in your house in Qarinus.”

CS FF: Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Egg Hunt for Me

Summary: Never let a pirate plan an Easter egg hunt.

Rating: G

Note: Just some Easter fun at the expense of our Captain.  Hope you enjoy it!  ~Steph

…Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Egg Hunt for Me: Part 1/1…

“Swan,” Killian began, as he sat down across from his wife and her mother at Granny’s.  “Why are there bunnies and eggs covering every bloody surface of this diner?”

“It’s for Easter,” she replied.  “It’s in a couple of weeks.  I think this is just the first time we’ve actually been in this realm to celebrate it.”

Killian arched a brow.  “And what exactly does this holiday entail in this realm?”

Snow smiled.  “Kids visit the Easter Bunny. They decorate Easter eggs.  They have Easter egg hunts.  You give kids baskets filled with candy and trinkets.”

Killian nodded.  “I see.  So this is a children’s holiday.”

Emma shrugged. “More or less.”

Snow leaned forward.  “That’s not true at all.  Families also have a big feast.  Easter can be fun for all ages.   And, Hook, since you brought it up, I know Regina is looking for someone to organize Storybrooke’s annual Easter egg hunt in the park.”

Emma let out a scoff. “Mom, I really don’t think Killian is interested in organizing an Easter egg hunt for a bunch of kids.”

Killian held up his hook.  “Hold on.  If there’s anything a pirate likes, it’s a good old fashioned treasure hunt.”

“See,” Snow said with a self-satisfied smile at her daughter.

“Killian, you don’t need to feel obligated just because my mother asked you.”  Emma held up her left hand, flashing her engagement and wedding rings.  “We’re married now.  You don’t need to keep trying to impress her.”

He shook his head. “I do not feel obligated.  A year ago, I was torn away from you and this town. And I wasn’t prepared for how much I missed it.  Storybrooke is my home now, Emma.  I think it’s high time I start acting as such and begin contributing to this community.”

“I think helping to defend it from the villain-of-the month is more than enough contribution,” Emma replied.

Snow patted her daughter’s hand.  “Emma, if your husband would like to volunteer to organize the Easter egg hunt, then let him.”  She paused and winked.  “It will be good practice for when you have little ones of your own soon and have Easter egg hunts in your backyard.”

Emma’s eyes grew wide, as she exchanged a glance with her husband.

Emma cleared her throat uncomfortably.  “We’ve only been married a year, Mom.  Slow down.”

Killian’s lips slid into a smile, as he linked his fingers with wife’s.  “I look forward to the day when we can share such events with our children, love.”

Emma smiled at the thought.  Easter had never been anything special for her growing up.  No big feast.  No egg hunts.  No visits to the Easter Bunny or dying eggs.  She never even got an Easter basket.   The most she ever got was a few measly little chocolate eggs.

She wanted things to be different for their children.  She wanted to start traditions and make memories as a family.

This Unspoken Thing 1/3

A baby mini fic.

Emma and Killian were kinda enemies. Now they are kinda friends, but there is this unspoken thing between them. A pull and a want that they haven’t yet given a name to. And stubborn Emma Swan just wont admit it…

(Inspired by GoTG 2!)

AO3/FF.NET

Emma Swan was in no way avoiding Killian Jones.

Someone had to go rustle up some food for the impromptu birthday party that had somehow came about. And that someone may as well have been her.

The fact that she could hide in the kitchen for as long as she could get away with was just a bonus.

Really.

“Need any help?”

Emma jumped just about a foot in the air at the sound of a softly accented voice, her head narrowly missing the upper edge of the refrigerator. “Dammnit Killian, some warning please.”

She looked back over her shoulder to see her friend’s teasing smile.

Friend.

Oh that was a weird word to say when concerning Jones.

Friends. Amigos. Buddies. Pals. All very strange words for someone who only a few months earlier was, what some may have called, her enemy.

“Sorry,” he shrugged softly, letting the door close behind him.

He looked tired; the shadows under his eyes speaking of the lateness of the hour that had seen them leave the bar last night and the number of rums they had both consumed while trying to outdo each other.

Stop all the Clocks (1/6)

Set in a semi-AU post season 5 world where they actually make it home before Killian gets sucked into the Land of Untold Stories. Because they deserved some slack after going through the Underworld. Chapters are sequential but for the most part can be stand-alone.

Warnings: Sexual content. (Like, I’m warning you away and I write smut sort of thing.) Vague, non-clinical descriptions of PTSD.

She’s shaking by the time they reach the house.

His Swan: his beautiful, strong, saviour of towns and slayer of demons, is shaking in his arms.

Killian scanned the auditorium warily as he found their seats and stepped back for Henry and Swan to step into the row before him.  He grimaced as he noticed the fourth person that day dressed in a ridiculous curled wig and mustache.  To a man, they wore bright red great coats, large brimmed hats trimmed with feathers so big he’d never be caught dead in them.

To be sure, there were others in odd attire as well.  Girls in long white nightgowns and mobcaps.  Boys dressed in green with small green hats on their heads, women dressed vaguely like Tink had back in Neverland.

No wonder Swan had insisted he attire himself in his full pirate regalia before they left home this morning.

“But Swan,” he’d said, as she pulled his large, black great coat and red vest from the closet, “we’re traveling to the Land Without Magic outside of Storybrooke, love.  Won’t this method of dress draw undo attention?”

“Trust me, Killian,” she’d said with a secret smirk.  “You’ll look positively normal where we’re going.  Besides…I thought they ought to see what the real thing looks like.”

“What the devil does that mean?”

But Swan had no intention, it would seem, of enlightening him further.  And so, the three of them had piled into her bug and traveled to a town outside of Boston, headed for an event called a “Disney Convention.”

Since the Underworld, it seems like Emma has developed this beautiful, intimate (and also adorable) habit of readjusting her face against Killian when she hugs him. It’s not every hug, and she may have done it before the Underworld, but it’s more prevalent now.

Like she loves the relief and comfort and warmth and safety that comes with making contact with his skin, and once isn’t enough.

Like she’s gone to hug him and then decided they weren’t close enough for her so she nuzzles into him closer.

It’s like every hug makes her remember every awful moment she’s had to let him go, and because of that she can’t hold him tight enough, can’t bury herself far enough into his arms.

Asking Permission

CS Genre: Future fic (follows Making a House a Home)

Killian woke with a smile on his lips, as he seemed to do nearly every morning anymore.  The sun shone brightly into their bedroom window, the smell of the sea heavy on the breeze that gently ruffled the gossamer curtains that hung before the slightly open French doors leading out to their balcony.  In the distance, Killian could hear the crash of the sea against the shore.  His bed was soft and warm, and he’d gotten an exemplary night’s sleep.

But nothing filled him with such joy as waking to Emma Swan in his arms, her fragrant, glorious hair tickling his nose, her soft body pressed against his, a gentle smile on her face.  It was overwhelming sometimes to remember that she was his, that she loved him, that she chose him as strongly and deeply as he chose her.

Life was good.  Life was near to perfect, and Killian had never been happier in his life.
