I am actually pretty nervous to post this… May I introduce you to Raúl Esparza drawing Nr. 151: Raúl at the Joyful Heart Gala 2017. ❤️
There’s hardly a drawing I had more fun to work on. I loved every second of it. If I may be so free to say, I think this is my new pride. The first time I saw the photo, I knew I had to turn it into art.
So many of asked me to draw this and I hope it is just the way you expected it to be.
May it bring you as much joy as it brought to me while drawing! 💕😘
This is for @ohbelieveyoume, you’re such a good mom! I thought you could take care of Rafi too! I hope you and your little one feel better soon!
It had been a busy morning at work, but you were finally done. Thanking your lucky stars that it was a half day, you walked out of the office. Taking your phone out of your bag, you looked down at the notifications; 5 missed calls from Carmen! You panicked and almost dropped your phone.
Why was Carmen calling you repeatedly?
With shaking hands, you hit the “call back” button and waited anxiously for an answer.
“ADA Barba’s office, Carmen speaking, how may I help you?”
“Oh thank God, you need to come down here right now!” Carmen sounded relieved to hear your voice, not worried, not that this abated your fears.
“Why? What…Is Rafael okay?”
“Right now, it’s not him I’m worried about!”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Have you seen him today?”
“It would be great if you could come and take him home.”
“Carmen, do you think you could be a little bit more specific about what is going on?”
“Your boyfriend is sick and is terrorizing everyone in the office. Specific enough for you? He is yelling at the interns, he made one of them cry! The paralegals are nowhere to be seen. And if I catch whatever he has, I’m holding you personally responsible. Now could you please come and deal with this?” Carmen said all of this in a fierce whisper.
I love to do colored drawings, but I know many of you really like the b&w with colored eyes or highlights.
His eyes are my fave thing to draw, along with his hands. So I decided to put some of them together for you. 💞
I also made up my mind about Raúl drawing 126, but I guess I’ll just make various sketches later, to see what I like most. So prepare yourself for a little sketch inferno later lol.
Here it is you guys. My first Barba fic , I’m so nervous holy shit. The first part of my work inspired by @ohbelieveyoume‘s HC “An Age Gap”. I gained a lot of followers who wanted this, so I hope it’s worth the hype.
Working on part two ASAP. Enjoy it and give all the feedback you want, comments are very much appreciated!
“This is a bad idea,” she muttered to herself, as the car started to approach the campsite. “Fuck me, this is a terrible idea.” A hand traveled to her clenched stomach, feeling it heavy and turning into a knot the closer they were to the place.
“Am I going the wrong way, ma'am?” The driver asked nervously, right after listening to her mumbles.
His voice made her suddenly remember she wasn’t alone, causing her cheeks to turn a faint red in embarrassment. “No, no! The camp is right there, sorry.”
A sigh left her chest, she couldn’t back down, not anymore. She registered as a volunteer for the camp a while ago, and confirmed every single email asking if she was completely positive she was going to attend. The last one sent two days before her friendship with her professor, Ryan, went to hell. He was the one that told her about it, claiming that it would do wonders for her record when transferring to Colombia University. After all, the thing she wanted to become was a teen psychologist. Having a reference from a camp that focused on helping kids saved from abusive homes, was more than perfect for her record.
“I need to relax, there are going to be more volunteers I could become friends with.” She thought, trying her best to calm down.
Who was she kidding?
It was going to be hell, there was no way she was going to be able to become friends with complete strangers in the spawn of four days. It took her a whole semester to feel confident enough to become friends with her own professor, and now, the idea of having to spend three whole days with him after their fight was nerve wrecking.
“We’re here,” his kind voice snapped her out of her thoughts once again. The young man stepped out of the taxi right away, opening the trunk to take her bags.
Imagine Barba walks in to you wearing a T-shirt of his.
So @barbabangme has really inspired me to take a stab at hc’s and imagines so this is my first attempt!
(Flashback 6 months ago)
It was your first day as a detective at the Manhattan Special Victims Unit and you hadn’t even been there twenty minutes before being assigned your first case. You were heading out with Carisi to respond to the crime scene and you looked down to check your phone to make sure you had Benson’s cell. Within a split second, you had managed to run into someone and send their papers and briefcase flying.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry. Let me help you with that.” You said, kneeling down to collect everything that had fallen.
“It was my fault, I wasn’t paying attention.” The man grumbled softly.
The two of you looked up at one another, and you were captivated by the mesmerizing hazel eyes staring back at you.
The man across from you regained his composure quickly, almost expertly.
“Are you new here? I’ve never seen you here before.” The man across from you asked.
“Yes, today’s actually my first day. I’m Y/N.” You said, regaining composure. The man kneeled directly in front of you was incredibly handsome.
“Ah nice to meet you Y/N. I’m ADA Rafael Barba. I prosecute most, if not all, sex crimes that come through SVU.”
“Well it’s a pleasure to meet you Rafael. I’m sorry the first time had to be me running into you, literally” you answered jokingly.
“No problem, seriously. Looks like we’ll be seeing each other around then?” Barba asked inquisitively.
You helped him pick up the rest of your papers and stood up to hand them to Barba.
“Yeah, I guess we will. I should probably get going. Sonny and I are supposed to be heading to a crime scene and he’s probably wondering where I’ve run off to. I’ll see you later, I guess?” You said, turning to leave.
“Yeah, I’m sure I’ll still be here when you get back. I’m reviewing testimonies with benson today, so I’m sure we’ll run into each other later.” Barba said to you.
You waved back and said goodbye and then ran to catch Sonny. Little did you know that the man you had just run into was checking you out from behind, taking you in from top to bottom.
He was mesmerized with you as you were with him.
(Fast forward to present)
You’re sitting at your desk, filling out paperwork to close a case, when all of a sudden Barba walks in. You two had grown to like and respect one another over the past six months of working together. Sure, you got on each other’s nerves, but you were friendly to one another. There was a running bet at work to how long it would take you two to succumb to each other, as you both were in love with the other, but neither of you knew it.
You heard footsteps walking towards you and looked up.
“I didn’t even hear you sneak in, Barba” you said, looking up at him. He had this grey suit on with suspenders that made his eyes pop. He fit it like a glove.
“Maybe you need to improve upon your detective skills then, Y/N”, Barba said, jokingly.
You let out a fake laugh.
“Ha funny, you could almost be a comedian. What brings you to the 16th precinct at this time, counselor?” You asked.
“I’m actually looking for benson. We’re supposed to prep before tomorrow. Do you know where she is?”
“She responded to a case and is meeting the Vic at the hospital. I’m not sure how long you’ll be. I stayed behind to finish some necessary paperwork. You’re more than welcome to stay and wait though. I could always use your good company.” You said, almost flirtatiously.
Barba’s member started twitching. The things she did to him. He had no idea how she felt towards him and did not want to jeopardize their great work chemistry.
“You want to know what? Sure. I’m not going to have this trip down here wasted.”
Barba pulled up a chair next to you and you two just shot the breeze as you filled out paperwork. You two talked about everything– work, college, family, friends, hobbies. You both discovered you liked to exercise.
“You kind of pegged me as someone who liked to exercise” Barba said.
“Yeah. I run mostly nowadays. 5ks and marathons mainly. I need to try something new though. What about you?”
Barba quickly checked out your physique. He could tell that you were a runner. You were in shape and your frame was thin but toned.
“I enjoy running too, but lately I’ve come back to boxing. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid”.
You raised your eyebrow slightly.
That’s hot, you thought to yourself.
“You box? That’s so cool! I’ve always wanted to learn how to.”
Barba looked at his watch.
“Well, I don’t think Benson’s going to be coming back anytime soon. She’s pretty solid at testifying. If you want, there’s a gym right around the corner from my apartment. I can show you a few moves?”
“That sounds amazing actually. I was going to head to the gym after this anyways, but wasn’t in the mood for running. I think I have spare change of clothes in my car. Let me just pack up, and we can head out.” You said, starting to pack everything and close everything out.
You followed Rafael to his apartment, duffle bag in tow, and took the elevator up to the 11th floor. You got out and followed him to his apartment. Rafael unlocked the door and let you in.
“Make yourself at home. The bathroom is the second door on the left. Do you want some water or anything?” Rafael asked.
“A bottle of water would be perfect.” You said, as you dug through your duffle bag, searching for your workout clothes.
You kept looking, but you realize that you haphazardly forgot to pack a shirt to workout in.
“Shit. Hey Barba, I forgot to pack a shirt, do you think I could borrow one?” You asked as you dug through your duffle bag to no avail.
“Of course, cariño. Go into my room on the right and go into the dresser, second drawer, and pull a t-shirt.” He said.
“You’re amazing, thank you.”
You ran into his room and took everything in before you. You had always wondered what Rafael Barba’s apartment always looked like and it was everything you expected. It was meticulously decorated and neat. Elegant but not overboard. Plus it had a terrific view of the city. You quickly went into his t-shirt drawer and ultimately decided on a Harvard Law shirt. You took it and yelled to Rafael that he could go get dressed as you headed to the bathroom.
You threw his shirt on along with your black Nike compression shorts and your running shoes. You tied your hair up in a high ponytail so it wouldn’t be in your way when you and Raf were at the gym. You walked out and headed to the kitchen to grab your phone. When you got to his kitchen counter, it wasn’t there, and you realized that you had brought it into rafael’s bedroom when you went to go grab a shirt.
Shit, you thought to yourself.
You walked over to his room and noticed that the door was opened, so you walked in to grab your phone.
“Hey Barba, I think I left my phone in your room, by accident–” you said as you walked into your room and that’s when you saw it.
A completely shirtless Rafael Barba. His tanned and toned physique staring right at you.
“Oh my god, Rafael, I’m so sorry the door was open.” as much as you should’ve, you couldn’t stop staring. And he stared right back at you, taking in your body in those tight compression shorts.
“I was wondering where that t-shirt went. It looks good on you.” Rafael said, just staring at you, practically gawking.
He took three steps towards you, only to close the space even further.
You tried to be as cocky as he was.
“Yeah I thought so too. Why, was this the shirt you wee looking for?” You said, practically in a whisper.
“Yeah but it looks better on you than me.” He said, his lips getting closer to yours.
You subconsciously filled in the remaining space and cautiously kissed him.
It felt like fireworks. Six long months of pent up resistance and frustration finally coming to surface. He intensified the kiss and your body responded. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your body close to his.
Rafael lifted you up and wrapped your body around his, laying you on the bed directly behind him. He peeled the shirt off of you as you unbuttoned his pants.
He worshipped your body, leaving a trail of kisses down your body. He took an agonizing amount of time just taking in your body and worshipping it.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted you.” He said, huskily.
You moaned softly.
“Me too, Raf.” You panted.
His member grew larger and yours wetter. He gently pulled your shorts off of you, and slowly slid a finger into you.
You moaned loudly.
“Fuck Rafael, I want you so bad.”
He inserted another finger and started slowly moving back and forth until you were on the edge of an orgasm, when all of a sudden, he pulled out.
You took those fingers and licked them clean, causing Rafael to grunt.
“God you’re so hot.” Rafael said, leaning into kiss you.
The kiss was hot and passionate.
“Do I need a condom?” He asked, motioning to his nightstand.
“No, I’m on the pill.”
“Are you sure?” Rafael asked, making sure this is what you wanted.
You leaned into kiss him gently.
“Absolutely sure.” You said smiling.
He slowly inserted himself into you, letting you adjust to the length and width of his member.
You both moaned loudly.
“God you’re so right, cariño” he said to you.
Once you had adjusted, he started to pick up the pace.
“Just like that, Rafael.” You said, on the brink of another orgasm.
He kept going until they both had climaxed.
He collapsed next to you on the bed. He cuddled up next you and you snuggled in next to him.
It was rather amusing watching Rafael actively trying to ignore his vibrating phone which sat upside down on the table in the restaurant. It was the first time you had been back there since your first date. The vein on his forehead was pulsing prominently and he seemed incredibly stressed out.
“Just answer it!” you said.
“No. Is it too much to ask for some time alone with you?”
“You’re an important man, it’s only natural that people are going to demand your time and attention.” You tried to keep from smiling while saying this but your attempts were unsuccessful, particularly after he started rolling his eyes at you.
Before you could reply, your phone started ringing angrily. How can a phone be angry you ask? Honestly, you had no idea, but if ever a phone has sounded angry and urgent, yours did at that very moment. You and Rafael looked at each other, resigned to the fact that your evening was ruined.
“Hey Liv!” you answered, as cheerily as your could manage.
“Where is Barba?” She sounded stressed, you decided against scolding her for interrupting your evening.
what about nevada being jealous?? butt not like always where hes just an asshat like he actually has a good reason to be jealous? you could do crybaby or ninita or whatever I just fancy the idea of the fact hes horrible and theres better people than him and he has to face it.
OH SURE FINE LET’S JUST CRUSH NEVADA’S HEART INTO LITTLE PIECES EARLY THIS FRIDAY MORNING! (i absolutely love it)
special guest shows up later… *wriggly brows*
Last time he saw his Crybaby, she had been crying.
That wasn’t exactly anything new, but typically he was able to make her stop. It was a broken promise too many, a few more harsh words than should have been shared, an innate need he had to escape the problem, a couple holes punched into the wall and his boot going through the bathroom door- he knew he had to go, to get out, before he did something he’d regret.
When he left, she was screaming after him, begging him not to go- again, nothing out of the ordinary…
But what happened next was absolutely new to Nevada.
She was supposed to wait for him. She was supposed to lie around in her gauzy negligee and wallow in self-pity until he decided to come home. She was supposed to cry, and call, and beg him to come home.
That’s what she’d done every other time he disappeared after a fight. Granted, he pushed his luck this time, had been gone two weeks instead of the typical couple days. He hadn’t entertained her calls, decided to get work done…
But, he was back now.
He was supposed to go home and find her pouting on the sofa. He was supposed to forgive her and beg she do the same. He was supposed to buy her wine and take her to bed.
Okay guys, it’s late here in Germany, but I’m off tomorrow so I finished it.
I proudly present: Raúl Esparza drawing Nr. 153: Another Raúl talking passionately about Hannibal at the Split Screens Festival 2017. ❤️
Guys, I can’t tell you how proud I am of this one. I REALLY love it - and that means something when I say it, coz I’m always soooo insecure! 🙈
I feel like, esp since the last 10-20 drawings, my style has really improved. The funny thing is, I don’t even realize what I do differently now. But then I never really do things on purpose, I just do what feels right.
I really hope you like it and find joy and happiness while doing so. 💞
I was wondering if you could do one where the reader is fighting with Barba and he take takes a step towards her or raises his hand and she puts her arms up or cowers away. And he feels super bad.
“It’s not fair, Rafael!” you yelled. “I’ve tried my best to be understanding. But I feel like a broken record. We talk about communication, but I feel like the only way I can get information from you is with a cross examination.
“I’m sick of trying to get on board. You kept those death threats to yourself for months, then you got suspended and you didn’t even have the decency to tell me why. I have to hear it from Sonny of all people! I don’t get it. Do you even trust me?”
It was obvious that Rafael’s blood pressure was rising by the throbbing vein next to his eye. Every one of your words was a well placed stab at his well maintained composure. What you were saying was just shy of crossing the line but you were beyond caring. You wanted him to hurt the same way he had hurt you with his secrets.
“Who are you, Rafael? I’m not sure I even know. All you do is keep secrets. It’s all just secrets and lies. Why couldn’t you have just told me what happened with Mariana Abreu? What you did to that woman… why didn’t you just put that needle in her hand.”
You regretted the words as soon as they had left your mouth. Rafael’s shoulders were tense. He was facing away from you the entire time. You had been yelling at his back up until now.
Before you knew what was happening Rafael swung around, his hands curled into fists. Without thinking he lifted his hands towards you, venting a grunt of frustration and taking a step forward. Rafael had no intention of hurting you, you knew it and he knew it, but that didn’t stop you from taking an instinctive step away from him, flinching slightly. There had been a look in his eyes, one you had never seen before, a fire which blazed dangerously behind those normally placid green pools.
Barba never got lonely. He was never a lady’s man, and always felt alright on his own. Later in life after establishing his career he became too involved with his job to date. However, one night after a few too many drinks with the detectives he realized he didn’t want to go home to an empty apartment. What would he do the next day? Work? He began to feel…lonely. It was an unwanted, unexpected feeling. It was gnawing at him. He tried to ignore it after that night in the bar. However, as he went to bed that night he decided maybe he should get out more? Find someone? He didn’t have many friends, and his whole public persona was wrapped up in his “ruthless ADA” that he had worked so hard to achieve. Now it was burden. He went home alone, no one to greet him. He decided, he would find someone, but not in NYC. He wanted a breath of fresh air and not someone who would know him from the papers. He decided to put a profile on a dating site. He didn’t want the usual women who went after lawyers so he put down “teacher” for occupation. His mother being a teacher and now running the charter school he figured and with his education background he hoped he could pass as an educator. He put in all the information however picked a different area code outside of New York. Hoping his plan would work he went to bed.
————————————————————————————————— You sat at your desk and tried to finish an assignment. You felt distracted, why at 30 did you decide to go back to school? You liked being a nurse, it had good pay, but you wanted to teach nursing. That meant grad school. You must be nuts! You decided you “earned” a break so looked through your matches for your online profile when one caught your eye. He seemed nice enough lived a little away but you thought why not? You messaged him.
Hi, I’m y/n. I saw your profile and noticed you’re a teacher. I’m in grad school for teaching. How are you today?
Barba was lounging around his apartment that day. He had slept off the alcohol and was going through the website’s app on his phone. He had a few messages, but not many people wanted to date teachers it seemed. Your message popped up. He looked at you. You were pretty, an RN and were going to grad school. Ambitious and smart, a good combination. He never thought he would be called out so quickly but he wasn’t necessarily thinking clearly. Alcohol, had those effects on people sometimes that and desperation. Barba quickly made up that he was a high school teacher on sabbatical. He made up a story that he was traveling around looking to get some experiences for a book he was writing. He wrote that he had inherited some money and decided to travel. You wrote back that was amazing, but you were more of a homebody. Besides, class didn’t allow you to do that. Soon a relationship between messages grew. ———————————————————————————————————–
One day you both decided to call each other via FaceTime. Barba was so nervous. His apartment, normally clean since he barely was there was now immaculate. You took your time. You thought to make yourself look great you went outside in a park. Testing out the perfect light you FaceTimed him. You two talked for hours, about everything. You knew he wasn’t from your city but you thought he was closer than New York. However, you wondered why a New York area code was on his phone number and why his apartment overlooked what looked like aa New York City neighborhood. The first few times you had spoken you didn’t care. Now it was it bothering you. You asked him. He confessed. He worked in New York and lived in New York, he had just wanted to meet someone outside the city. He confessed was a bit a drunk when he posted the profile and wanted someone who didn’t know him or anyone who knew him to answer. He took a chance and met you. You had to admit you were a bit annoyed, but you made him promise no more lies and to be more open. He then casually said something that made your whole week.
“I wouldn’t lie to my girlfriend.”
You were in shock, you couldn’t believe it! This dating site worked! He lived in NYC, you had never been there. To you, your Rafi was a regular normal guy.
Barba was over the moon. He now had someone to text ‘Good Morning’ and ‘Goodnight’. He would FaceTime you after work but he still had this secret hanging over his head. He had to admit, he was a bit anxious about that. It’s not that he wanted to lie to you, but he was in a nasty business and you were a bright spot for him. A spot that never got tarnished by his work. Most women would love to date attorneys, and he had dated those types of women before. You were different. You laughed with him, and made him feel so special. He desperately wanted to meet you. He felt that it was serious enough for you to meet his mother.
You both ordered Chinese from respective restaurants one night when he brought up you coming to meet him in New York. You almost choked on your Chicken Fried Rice. “Come to New York? When?” You asked still a bit in shock. “After Finals, you’ll love the city. I’ll show you around. Meet my mom.” He replied casually eating Chow Mein. You were stunned, his mother? How could he be casual about that? You looked at him and replied. “Ok, I have some vacation time saved up. Do you think I can get a hotel room, or would they all be booked up?” He looked at you and gave you a lopsided grin. “You can stay with me, I have an extra room and won’t do anything. Come on, we can spend more time together and you can save on a room. And let me buy your ticket.” You looked at him and shook your finger. “I’ll stay with you, but you have to be on your best behavior. I’ll buy my ticket. I don’t want to feel like I owe you anything.” You said smiling. He assured you he’d be a perfect gentleman and you completely trusted him. You logged on your computer right then while FaceTiming him and got your vacation time from work. Three weeks in New York City with your boyfriend! You couldn’t wait to tell the girls at work!
Barba for his part was happy. A little nervous but happy. He told his mother that he had met a woman online wanted them to meet. For the first time in years he got time off from work and put it in with SVU that he didn’t want to be bothered unless it was NECESSARY he got other ADAs to cover his cases and could not wait to pick you up from the airport.
He got his spare room ready, had the apartment professionally cleaned and took a cab to the airport. Would you both recognize each other instantly? Would it be awkward? Do you hug or handshake?
The second you came off the nervousness dissipated and you ran to his arms and he spun you around. He was finally felt like a normal guy! He was with the woman he talked to and was falling in love with. Both of you went picked up your luggage from the carousal and went to his apartment.
You couldn’t help but look like a country mouse in the big city while he just looked at you and smiled. You had to hold yourself back from constantly taking selfies together. You went to his apartment when you noticed something. It was very nice for a teacher’s salary. You didn’t know much about Manhattan rental prices, but weren’t they too expensive for a teacher’s salary? But you let it slide as you went into his living room.
“Are you tired? Or hungry?” He asked, now the nervousness and the weight of what was going on set in.
“Not really, it’s kind of overwhelming, though” You admitted to him.
“I don’t want to overwhelm you, but my mother really wants to meet you. Is tomorrow for breakfast ok? If you want to say no, feel free.” He rushed looking nervous, like he was gauging your response.
“She really wants to meet me! That’s fine.” You said giggling you continue “I kind of want to talk more, I know we talked ALL THE TIME but it’s different now we are in the same room. You know what I mean?” You continued blushing, barely able to look at him.
He smiled, relieved he wasn’t the only one. Standing in a courtroom, cross examining a rapist he felt in control. Sitting next to you, his pretty girlfriend, he felt a bit out of his element. Soon you both started talking and it felt like the most regular thing in the world. He realized he was more in love with you than he initially thought. He just wished he wasn’t lying to you.
You came in at 1 p.m. at 5 p.m. you both realized you had been talking for four hours! You stomach started to rumble, and asked if you guys could order a pizza. Rafael ordered and you picked out a movie. With his arm around you he felt like a regular guy. He had no idea what was about to go down. A half hour into the movie there was a knock at the door, assuming it was the pizza you went up to get it, feeling more comfortable around him and your place in the apartment. You were shocked to see two detectives. They looked as confused to see as you were to see them.
“Is this the apartment of Rafael Barba?” A tall blond man asked, there was a brunette and a blond woman with him.
“Yes.” You answered. “He’s my boyfriend, is something wrong?”
You were a little scared, thinking you might have completely misjudged the situation and Rafael. All three seeing your look, immediately went to assuage your fears.
“It’s nothing, we just need the ADA to quickly sign something so you two can get back to your movie.” The blond detective said.
You were in shock and never even heard Rafael ask if you needed help with the pizza. ADA? A lawyer, in your head the wheels were turning. He always said he was a teacher. Why would he lie? However, it would make sense that a lawyer could afford this apartment.
The detectives must not have picked up on your confusion as one by one they introduced themselves, saying Rafael seemed so much happier since you two got together. The blond woman even mentioned the framed picture he kept of you on his desk. He had mentioned the picture. You assumed he meant the desk in his classroom.
An apology and guilt flashed in Rafael’s eyes as he signed a document. The detectives all apologized for the inconvenience, promised it would be the last and wished you well before leaving. You closed the door after them and looked at Rafael. “
What’s going on?” You simply asked. You didn’t know to be scared, angry or hurt. You thought you two had an honest relationship.
“I’m an ADA, a prosecutor for the Sex Crimes unit in Manhattan. We call it Special Victims. It can be hard to meet women, and I just wanted to meet a normal woman under normal circumstances. I was lonely. I thought being a teacher was a good idea. My mother does run a charter school. I just don’t work there. You can ask me anything you want. I promise that was the last lie. I understand if you want to leave or go home.”
You just looked at him for a while, almost dazed. You didn’t want to leave and go home. You vacation time would be wasted. But you weren’t sure you wanted to stay with him. You could see that this wasn’t a moral lie, he wasn’t married he just lied about his profession.
“How much do I really know about you?” You asked.
He tried to take your hands but you pulled away and his face fell. He told you everything about his life, that growing up in the Bronx was true. He confessed that instead of going to school to be a teacher he got a scholarship to Harvard Law. Everything else was true. He tried his best, to explain why he lied.
You leaned in and kissed him.
“I could do worse than a lawyer. Just don’t lie to your girlfriend again!” You simply said and smiled.
He looked at like the weight of the world was lifted off his shoulders and smiled.
Wrapping his arms around you he murmured.
“Thank you, let’s get back to waiting for the pizza.”
Sitting on the couch with you later eating pizza while you talked through the movie, Rafael wasn’t lonely anymore and realized he was now just a regular guy.
