Any book recommendations that won't make me vomit from ingrained sexism?

YES. They are few and far between, but all of them are so worth reading:

  • Parasite, by Mira Grant (Sci-fi/horror, one of the only novels set in the future that doesnt hold the same sexist/racist/homophobic views of contemporary society)
  • The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins (Dystopian fantasy, Asexual, disabled, poor, coloured main character. Makes extremely accurate and terrifying statemnt about our society.)
  • A Great and Terrible Beauty, by Libba Bray (The whole trilogy, actually. Main characters include representation of every possible oppressed group, including a sexual abuse survivor [tw] and they are not the defining features of their characters, just single aspects of multifaceted and well developed humans)
  • Everyday, by Daniel Levithan (genderfluid main character, amazing story, tackles issues surrounding gender roles, mental illness, and emotional permanence)
