[TRANS] NONNO MAGAZINE

1. ways that you spend your days off

JIMIN: hobbies that I do are billiards, bowling and playing computer games all together at a house with friends. when we play, it’s different who wins, but it’s certain that I do the worst no matter what

SUGA: when it’s vacation time, I try to do things that people say are ordinary (to do). It’s important to me to go to a cafe alone or meet up with friends or just a casual every day routine. because it’s a vacation, I think it’s important to spend it relaxing, rather than planning to do something special

V: I listen to several types of music, regardless of genre… classic, jazz, opera, R&B, hip hop, EDM. right now my favourite is especially Hisaishi Joe’s ‘Summer’. dadadadan~(starts to sing) I want to listen to piano performance live one day

JIN: because Jungkook said that he’s going to learn the drums in his free time on the world tour, I started to play guitar too. but since he can’t carry the drum set around with him on tour, in the end it was just me who kept practicing from bringing the guitar (laughs) I play our songs like spring day and butterfly. one day I want to show it on stage

JHOPE: recently, my hobby is collecting figurines. nowadays, things that i’ve been collecting is called “deck of skate boards”. since there are a lot of colourful designs, it’s nice just looking that them. sadly there’s no way to ride them outside

RM: the thing that I’m consumes with right now is learning Japanese. I’m watching the drama “late night restaurants” as it’s easy to understand the dialogue. getting in touch with nature is one thing that is a way of changing the mood. I go for  a walk in a park that’s close by or if i have time I go far until I reach the sea.

JK: recently, I enjoy playing FPS games. I spend about 3~4 hours every day playing so time flies in that moment (laughs) and I always listen to music. I listen to exciting music like future bass but more than that I like melodies that make my mind become calm and the and the quietness of the quite sad atmosphere.

2. favourite fashion and things in fashion you always uphold

JIMIN: once I find a fashion that I think is good, I’ll buy clothes similar to that for several months. right now I like simple fashion, such as shirts with slacks and white shirts and denim (jeans?). since I haven’t decided what fashion to do this summer…. I think I should shop and and think carefully because once I start to buy things, I tend to buy a lot of it (laughs)

SUGA: rather than having a lot of different types of clothing, I rather have an attachment to things I like and use them for a long time. I think that after debut, I’ve worn thousands of clothing that are expensive that are my preference. since I want to be a person hat looks special even just wearing ordinary things, I choose to wear simple clothes. other than that, because I don’t like to show my skin, I wear long sleeves in the summer too

V: the item I wear most often is shirts. I have several shirts that go from simple to unusual print designs. I like the Boston bag too that I bought from New York in spring. I will use it carefully!

JIN: I like neat and simple fashion. when I go to places where a lot of people see me, I try to wear as many things that I received as gifts as possible. because I think if i were them, i’d feel really happy to see precious person wearing something that I gave to them

JHOPE: I try to do styles that express me well, that are not too easy going, and not too loud either. I plan to deliver a fashion that looks cool this summer. but I haven’t been shopping since I purchased a street brand fur jacket last winter…

RM: I pick clothes that are a good style whilst having a comfortable feeling. I didn’t have confidence in my style since I didnt dress well skinny but after debuting everyone told me that my legs are pretty and long, so I challenged it. the person out of the members that dresses well, if it’s not me (laughs), is JHOPE. he’s good at matching items.

JK: I like big shapes (silhouette) like parkas, and I like the colour black. I wear similar clothes in the summer too. the genre is different but I think that RM and JHOPE dress cool

3. favourite scents?

JIMIN: the scent of flowers and meat is cooking. because I like the smell of nature more, I don’t really wear perfumes well. I currently use the scent of a diffuser that’s refreshing. but J-HOPE who is my roommate, prefers scents like this more than me

SUGA: I like perfumes that have a sweet smell but I don’t use just one kind of perfume since I only wear it occasionally, depending on the mood of that day. I like to drink coffee, when I smell the scent of it my mind becomes relaxed. coffee is like a substitute for water to me.

V: in many cases I select a refreshing scent or a scent that I relax to. I use several types to match the mood or fashion

JIN: I use sweet perfumes that linger softly. if I were to give an example, the soft feeling is like the texture of candy floss. but the smell isn’t candy floss itself (laughs)

JHOPE: since i’m very sensitive to smells, it’s only natural that I spray perfume. before I got to bed, I use a diffuser all the time that’s in our room with the sweet smell of body lotion. from our vacation in hawaii in april, i bought kona coffee powder but i tried using it as quadrant substitute

RM: smell of natural fabric softener. and I spoke with jungkook, and the smell of Japan buildings (laughs) especially the airport. when we got here we all said together “we’ve arrived in Japan!”

JK: the smell of green or the wind when spring arrives. one day in spring, I listened to music and rode a bike down the river together with RM and V, so when the distinctive air of spring arrives I feel happy and excited because of that day

4. Japanese movies, dramas, manga etc that have stuck in your memory?

JIMIN: I have seen almost all well-known manga and anime. recently I bought the novel “between calmness and passion” at the bookstore. I look forward to reading it!

SUGA: The best manga throughout my life is slam dunk! I must’ve read it over a hundred times since I read my favourite ones repeatedly. when I was young, most of the things that I watched were Japanese anime

V: recently I’ve watched all of 'we married as a job’! I like the scene where the protagonist gives a hug to the other guy who she has a marriage contract with, on every Tuesday. I remember seeing the male actor in somewhere else, I was surprised to find out that he was Hoshino Gen, an artist that I listen to often on a average day. I love the song 'every day life’ the most. I’m also practicing the love dance from the ending of the drama

JIN: I like Japanese anime’s a lot so when I was a trainee I watched one piece or bleach every week. recently I’ve been obsessed with the manga about high school volleyball called haikyuu, so I read that often

JHOPE: I really like Otsaku Ai’s 'Sakuranbo’. I listen to YUI’s song often too.

RM: I listen yo AK-69 or KOHH, Sakamoto Ryuichi, Yuhki Kuramoto’s music. I like movies that are directed by Hirokazu Koreeda. I became captivated by his calm outlook on the world that he films. If his movies screen in korea, I will certainly go.

JK: I like Japanese anime’s, I’m currently watching the same one as Jin too, haikyuu. and it’s helping me learn Japanese too!

“Hey everyone! I had to have minor surgery to get a benign cyst removed from the side of my head this morning. Rumors tend to get out of control online, so I’m just letting you all know that things are totally cool, although I’ll probably be laying low for a couple of days. Lots of love!”

He looks like he got hit by a truck, but he’s still smiling.  Nobody panic!

I’m about 99% sure that Dan just got surgery on that little bump he’s had on his brow for basically forever –

Usually, with cysts like that, they’ll just leave them alone unless they cause the person discomfort or somehow interfere with stuff nearby.  I do wonder, though, how he’ll wind up looking if that is what was removed.  I’ve kinda gotten used to seeing that little bump there.

anonymous asked:

Even as godtiers, the kids still have wisdom teeth... which means one of these kids gets the post-removal anesthetic babbling and direct honesty that they usually can't ever do with each other

That’s really, really sweet and I love it but also consider: The Homestuck Kids but as Actual People I sedated/brought up from sedation while working for an oral surgeon.

JOHN: The teenaged boy that took two Halcions at once and was like “Whoa… this is a weird high.” in front of his dad.

ROSE: Definitely one of the redheaded girls whose eyes snap open in the middle of surgery and just stare blankly up at you as you monitor her breathing. Did you know redheads have difficulty with sedation? Scared the shit out of me my first half-dozen times pushing drugs on redheads. 0/10 experience will haunt my nightmares.

DAVE: One of the dozens of teenagers who can’t, for the life of them, stop mumbling. Sir, please, we are trying to remove your teeth without puncturing the fat buckle in your cheek. You are heavily sedated. You can sleep! Please, please just go the fuck to sleep.

JADE: Perfect, flawless, beautiful patient that is a dream on the op table. The kind of patient that’s never done a Single Drug before and took ¼ a Halcion for her surgery and was passed out before we even brought her in from the waiting room. God bless.

JANE: Looks adorable with cotton stuffed in her mouth. Came up from anesthesia asking for a direct checklist+dos and donts for post-surgery care. Probably called the doctor a few times after surgery worried about minor things but left a nice review online.

DIRK: The guy that wanted to drive himself home from surgery after popping two Halcions. Alright, badass. You’re legally intoxicated for 24 hours. You can’t operate a coin ride at Wal-Mart much less a fucking car.

ROXY: Definitely the girl with 16 layers of nail polish on that the pulse monitor can’t read through. Responded “Is weed okay? Is it going to fuck up my anesthesia? I smoke a lot of weed.” when asked if she’s taken any recent medication.

JAKE: Gets a viral video with his bizarre post-anesthesia wordspill his friends are oh-so-sure to record.

A Fated Pair (Omegaverse) by @katychan666

Series about Alpha!Alec x Omega!Magnus….

A good kind of drug by  @imjustoutofideas

After getting a minor surgery, Alec is a little bit ‘high’ from the morphine he was given as pain relief. Fluff ensues.

A Pirate’s Life For Me by @lecrit

Note: All the love you need and want between your favorite OTP, where one is a prince and the other one is a pirate. There’s a lot of angst, maybe a few tears, you can be sure of that but it’s oh so worth it, fluff and shameless innuendos.

A World Uncertain by @broodingalec

The overwhelming passage of time has been a topic of avoidance between Alec and Magnus ever since the two started dating. With their lives so fragile and unpredictable under the threat of Valentine, they have managed to leave the concept in the back of their minds for a later date, hopefully somewhere in the far future.

This method of coping is pushed even further in the wake of Sebastian, Valentine’s son and Clary’s brother, taking a new and increasingly cruel step into their lives. The threats that are piling up against them seem to be rising to nearly insurmountable heights, but under the pressure of it all, the idea of the future that would come in the aftermath of success is beginning to haunt Alec’s dreams at night just as often.

Aftermath by @battlemagnus

It used to be that Alec always fit securely inside a neat little box inside Magnus’s head. He was a Shadowhunter, yes, but he was… he was Alec. He was a protector.

Aren’t You Cold? By lethargical

Alec dislikes the Winter. A lot. So when his apartment’s heating stops working, he decides to ask his neighbour for help, little did he know his neighbour was glittery and oddly familiar…

August by @glambertal

“What was your first time like?”

Magnus looked up at him slowly, one eyebrow arched curiously. “Why?”

Alec shrugged as if he weren’t mortified. “Just wondering. You don’t have to answer.”

Magnus just hummed and bookmarked his page, setting the book down. “It wasn’t nearly as good as yours, if that’s what you mean.”

Bang Me Like Your Drum by hckycrzy07

Magnus Bane is a pre-med student at NYU just trying to graduate. He’s stressed enough and could do without his friends pestering him about his boyfriend. It’s not that he’s embarrassed or closeted or something. He just wants to keep his boyfriend to himself, thank you very much. Now, if he could just get his friends to understand that, his life would be a whole lot easier.

or Magnus has a secret boyfriend that all of his friends have been dying to meet but Magnus just keeps refusing.

Big days and fragile nerves by @katwriting

It’s the day that Alec is supposed to become the official Head of the Institute and he is a tiny bit nervous.

“Nervous?”, Magnus said softly.
Alec let out a shaky laugh and scratched the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “You have no idea.”
Magnus sighed. “Oh, Alexander. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
“Yeah, sure”, Alec scoffed, running one of his arms up Magnus’s side and cupping his cheek with his hand, “only every single shadowhunter in New York waiting for me to screw up.”

But some of us are looking at the stars by @lecrit

There aren’t many things that Alec loves as much as he loves the stars.
Most nights, he just likes to sit on his balcony and watch the eerie darkness drape over the sky and the silver glow of the moon, surrounded by the stars shaping constellations he knows by heart.

This is a special night for him and his son. The only night in the year Alec lets Max stay up after midnight, so they can watch Perseids meteor shower together on the rooftop of their building.

Alec doesn’t expect to find out they weren’t the only ones to get the idea.

But he always did.

But In the Morning We Rise by @alittlebriton

“Mmmkay,” Magnus sighs without opening his eyes and shifts to allow Alec more access. “You can wake up the rest of me if you want.”

Alec knows he doesn’t mean it quite the way his brain interprets it - he just means he can keep up the kissing - but his brain leaps ahead and makes him flush, his body getting warmer. But why shouldn’t he? Magnus was his boyfriend; he was naked in bed with him. He could definitely wake up the whole of Magnus if he wanted. Just because he hasn’t done it before didn’t mean it wasn’t a good idea.

Set before Episode 9 Bound By Blood - Alec wakes Magnus up in new ways.

Closed Doors Don’t Lie by @actuallyredorchid

When the summoning of the Memory Demon reveals that it’s not only Clary’s memories that have been meddled with, Alec finds himself being pushed off the path set out for him and onto a different one.

Communication by NotEvenThat

It didn’t matter if Alec hadn’t meant to upset him. Ragnor was dead. Valentine was back. The Clave wanted to document Downworlders, like they were cattle. Magnus was breaking down and he needed Alexander to leave before he really lost it.

Or how I think the Malec fight will go in 2B.

Communication Is Key by LS_5Ever

Everything was going great for Alec and Magnus. Alec no longer cares what Maryse thinks, and apart from Jace and Izzy’s constant teasing, he couldn’t be happier. Then, all goes downhill when, after a great day, Magnus starts ignoring him. What did he do wrong? If only Magnus would tell him, he could try to make it better.

Or the one where Magnus thinks Alec is cheating on him but in reality he’s not, but Magnus doesn’t know that because the two of them don’t communicate enough.

This will only be about 5 chapters unless I feel like expanding the story a bit.

Honestly, you almost passed out a few times. Not by seeing blood, but six hours of fixing up wounds and almost doing minor surgery right after the events of the day. Currently, you sat on one of the waiting chairs, just now noticing the blood staining a small part of the floor in the corner. Seungri had left at some point during those six hours. Which left Daesung, who was washing his hands. You close your eyes, beginning to drift away to sleep right then and there.

“(Y/N), you okay?” Daesung asked. You open your eyes right away, nodding your head. You rubbed your eye with the back of your hand and sat up.

“Yeah, just tired,” you say. You run a hand through your hair, your eyes already starting to close on their own. Daesung opened up his phone, scrolling through his messages.

“Hey princess,” he said. You looked up at him. You leaned forward, your elbows resting on your knees. ”Do you think you could check up on Ji Yong Hyung?”

Your eyes widen a bit, starting to feel very underprepared to see him. You open your mouth, about to say something. Only to shut your mouth and give him a small nod. Daesung gives you a very small smile and puts his phone away. “I know (Y/N), you guys need to work things out still. He’ll be easier to handle now than he was when you fixed him.”

“I don’t really know what to say to him though,” you said quietly. You got up from the chair, running a hand through your hair. Daesung opens the door for you, letting you exit the infirmary before him.

“Just say how you feel,” he says, smiling down at you. You shake your head, his smile cause a small one to form on your face. “Honestly, just tell him how you feel.”

“Easier said than done Daesung,”

“True,” he said, nodding his head. “Keep in mind that you do have years of friendship to help you.”

“Yeah but-”

“And,” Daesung said, cutting you off. “I really think you’re underestimating how much he cares about you.”

Your gaze falls to the floor as you walk down the halls, thinking about what Daesung said. Ji Yong only likes you as a friend, right? Well, he hadn’t exactly said that he liked you more. But he did know about your predetermined marriage. Would that change the way he feels about you? He looks down at you and chuckles lightly. “Actually, I know you’re underestimating how much he cares about you. Trust me, if you ask him to move a mountain, he’ll ask which one you want and how fast he should be. He’ll do anything for you princess. That’s for sure.”

I’m recovering from a minor surgery right now and this just lifted my spirits so high

anonymous asked:

Sugar baby Rhys gets some minor surgery, like an appendectomy or something. As he's coming out of anesthesia, he's super loopy and starts saying all this mushy, romantic shit about Jack to the person he notices in the room...who happens to be Jack himself. Jack usually feels very in-control of his emotions, but suddenly this high-as-a-kite string bean has him all flustered

It was going to be fine.

Rhys had been complaining about the pain in his stomach for a couple of days, and while Jack had written it off at first as some bad fish from a restaurant he promised they’d never visit again, but when the pain had persisted Jack had all but bullied Rhys into an appointment with Jack’s private physician. After a litany of questions about the nature and duration of Rhys’ pain, a CT scan confirmed that Rhys’ appendix was inflamed. That had struck a chord of worry in Jack, despite his doctor’s assurance that Rhys’ case could be swiftly resolved with a relatively routine surgery. Still, the very idea of his pretty baby going under the knife, even if it was the knife of Jack’s very trustworthy surgeon, bolstered with the best equipment and staff that money could buy.

To his credit, Rhys seemed relatively nonplussed by the idea of surgery, pointing to his prosthetic when Jack had brought up his own concerns. Honestly, the young man took more issue with the fact that he was prevented from eating anything, even ice cream, the night before the surgery. The CEO had kept mostly silent after that, barely getting any sleep as he preferred to watch Rhys’ lay peacefully in his arms.

As Rhys sat on the hospital bed the next morning, Jack lavished the young man with as many kisses and careful petting as he could, pulling aside his surgeon for one final, not-so-veiled threat before he allowed Rhys to be prepped for the operation.

“You better not go dying on me, ‘kay pumpkin?” Jack gave Rhys’ hand a little squeeze, “all your shit is in my apartment, and hell if I’m gonna go through your sock collection all on my own.”

“Jack,” Rhys murmured, smirking, “I’ve probably had more surgeries than you have….it’s not a big deal. I’ll be fine.”

“Yeah, if your doctor wants to keep his job and his skin, then you will be.” Jack let out a loud growl, which was quickly cut off as Rhys’ grabbed the silk of Jack’s tie and pulled him in for a soft kiss.

“Dude, if you keep freaking out, you’re gonna give yourself a heart attack, then I’ll be the one losing my shit over you….” Rhys whispered as their lips parted. “Try to chill out…I’ll see you on the other side….okay old man?”

Jack let out a tense sigh, even as Rhys’ ran his fingers soothingly through the peppered gray streak in his hair.

“I’ll…I’ll try…” He huffed. Rhys gave him a soft, genuine smile, even as Jack was cautiously ushered away from his lover’s side.

“You better have a mountain of ice cream ready for me as soon as I can eat. I’m gonna be starving!” Rhys called as he was wheeled towards the operating room, giving Jack one last little wave before he was pushed through the doors.

Sure, a big part of Jack had always known that the surgery would probably go off without a hitch. And if not, at least he had violently beating the operating team for losing his lover’s life to look forward to. Still, the tension hadn’t fully bled out his body until the point where the surgeon had told him that the appendix had been removed successfully, and that Rhys was now resting in his room.

The kid was still asleep, as pale and as still as Jack had ever seen him. Despite the assuring bleep of the machines and the steady rise and fall of Rhys’ chest underneath his thin hospital gown. Grateful that no one else had decided to stay in the room with him, Jack took a seat at Rhys’ bedside, careful of the young man’s IV as he carefully took Rhys’ hand in his.

Things were quiet for awhile, and Jack was about to wonder if he was going to go crazy counting his boyfriend’s exhales, when suddenly Rhys started to stir.

Kitten?” Jack gasped as he grasped Rhys’ hands in both of his, waiting with bated breath as Rhys’ expression started to shift, his eyelids fluttering as his head turned to the side. Little by little, Jack was greeted with a familiar blue and brown as Rhys’ eyes opened halfway, looking around the room dazedly.

“Rhysie….?” Jack whispered softly as the young man let out a tiny, sleepy moan. He was clearly still out of it, caught in the effects of the anasthesia. Which was fine, Jack was content to hang around and hold the kid’s hand

But then Rhys started talking

“Muhh….J….Jack…” Rhys moaned, voice weak and reedy as he softly smacked his lips together, Jack stiffened, staring down at the young man in surprise. Rhys didn’t sound all that….conscious, like he was babbling in his sleep.

“Yeah, pumpkin?” Jack whispered softly, not wanting to scare him. Rhys’ eyes just dazedly flicked up to him

“Oh….hey. Can you please….gotta tell Jack…” Rhys murmured, shifting slightly in his bed. Jack raised an eyebrow as he looked down on the loopy young man. Tell him what? Jack knew everything about Rhys that might be considered a dirty little secret. Turn-ons, pet peeves, ex-boyfriends. If he was planning some kind of drug-induced confession, there wasn’t much on the table that Jack didn’t already know about, or suspect.

“You gotta….tell Jack….I love him…” Rhys whined, blissfully unaware of how he had suddenly cause Jack to freeze up in his chair, a blush reaching new heights in his cheeks as he stared down at the incoherent man. What was that?

N….No. No way. Sure, Jack cared for the kid, bought him new clothes and fancy food and fucked him so hard he was pretty sure they could hear his cries on the street below his penthouse, but love was something he figured he’d stopped dealing with years ago, when he’d given up on marriage and family and decided to just pluck whatever pretty thing he liked out of the crowds.

And yeah here his precious little addled idiot was, gushing his blubbery little feelings out all over Jack’s lap as if the older man knew at all what to do with it.

“Love him…so much….” Rhys continued, and damn the little lovestruck way he said that word was getting Jack redder than all the times Rhys’d wrapped those pretty little lips around his cock. “He was s-so worried…hehe…he said he’s gonna bring my ice cream…” A little quirk of a smile tugged at Rhys’ slack lips that made Jack’s heart flutter. “Do you think….do you think he’d feed it to me…? I want him to…I wanna kiss him…he can taste the ice cream….”

Jack’s heart thumped in his chest as he made a mental note to order the biggest, fanciest sundae to Rhys’ room as quickly as possible.

“Please….tell him, okay?” Rhys’s fingers weakly tightened on Jack’s hand, Jack giving him a warm squeeze in return.

“I…Okay, kiddo. I’ll tell him.” Jack promised, daring to lean in and kiss the young man’s forehead, even as his own skin was burning with blush at Rhys’ confession. He bit his lip as he watched the kid softly flutter back down into his nap, fingers relaxing against Jack’s warm grip and leaving the CEO alone with his thoughts.

Fuck. He wondered if some of the nurses would be willing to give some of the good stuff and knock him out instead.

Headcanons for the chocobros visiting their S/O in the hospital? (not for anything super life-threatening that is, just like a broken leg or recovering from a minor surgery or something)

Ah yes, hospital visits. Hospitals are something I visit often due to my more than crappy health. Let us now imagine how fantastic it would be to have the Chocobro’s visit you <3

The second school let out, Noctis bolted his way to Insomnia’s hospital; the one you had been admitted into. You had to stay in the hospital for several days due to a bad appendix, which resulted in you getting it removed. Noctis wanted to skip school to be there for you when you awoken from your surgery, but you assured him you’d be fine. The future King needed education more so than his significant other, you told him. Reluctantly, he followed your orders, but he swore he would be at your side the instant school was released.

Of course, he owned up to his promise. He rushed into your hospital room  and stared at you with eager, concerned eyes. You were sore, but the surgery went perfectly fine. You’d be able to leave tomorrow morning. As relieved as he was to hear the news, he remained at your bed side. You watched TV and chatted until a nurse had to ask him to leave due to visiting hours being over. The second he left your room you received a text reading:

“Call me if you need anything.”

The instant Prompto got a call from your mother stating you had another severe asthma attack, Prompto jumped out of bed and rushed to the hospital. It was well past midnight on a school night, but he didn’t care. He needed to see with his own two eyes that you were going to be okay.

By the time he arrived, you were already moved from the emergency room into your own hospital room. They eased your severe symptoms, and you were feeling much better. They only decided to admit you into the hospital for further surveillance and observation.

The instant he laid eyes on you, he lunged onto your hospital bed to give you a tight, loving hug. “Thank the Six you’re okay! I was so worried!”

“Prompto, you didn’t have to come. It’s so late,” your eyelids drooped as your raspy voice called out to him.

He smiled a pressed a sweet kiss to your lips. Without a word and a single  care that your mother was asleep in a chair placed beside your bed, Prompto crawled over beside you. He pulled you close and bid you a goodnight. You fell asleep curled in his arms.

Gladiolus was furious when he found out that you attempted to  take on an Iron Giant by your lonesome. He became even more upset when he heard that the battle had left you in the hospital with several wounds, including a broken leg.

When he arrived at your hospital room, you expected to recieve a scolding of a lifetime. Instead, he greeted you in silence. He pulled up a chair beside your bed and intertwined your fingers with his. He refused to let go, even when doctors and nurse checked on you hour after hour.

You both watched TV in silence, until you couldn’t take it anymore.

“I’m sorry…” You muttered to him.

“It’s alright,” he responded.

That certainly wasn’t the response you expected to receive.

“I-” You began to speak but he hushed with a tender kiss.

“All that matters is that you’re alive and here with me.”

Ignis took the day off of work when you needed surgery to remove a pesky gallbladder that was doing you more harm than good.

You awoke in recovery, several hours after the surgery’s start, with him at your side studying you with attentive eyes. You shifted slightly to get a better view of him and winced at the pain the surgery brought on to your insides.

“Careful now,” he reminded you softly. “I will alert the staff that you are awake and ready to be transferred to a proper room. Are you feeling nauseous at all?”

“No… just tired. And sore.”

“All of which is very normal,” Ignis assured, caressing your cheek lovingly. “Go ahead and rest. I will be here when you wake up.”

His comforting words and caressed lulled you back into a dreamless sleep.

As promised.. he was at your side when you awoke once more.

AJ wonders around backstage of the arena searching for Jessica. He had given her the space Cass recommended and did not try to contact her again. But in that time apart, AJ is sure he was close to driving himself insane. He spent all of his time thinking over everything that has happened between Jessica, himself and Charlotte. And he hates himself for his actions. He is a grown ass man for fucks sakes who just turn 40 years old. And after these last few days, thinking, AJ is positive that he needs to talk to Jessica, working things out between them. Even if he does not get the outcome that his wishes for, just having her in his life as a friend will be better than nothing. And honestly, he would not be surprised if he even gets that with her. But maybe there can be a way for them to start slow and work up to being close to what they were before.

Turning down one particular hallway, he comes sees Finn Balor leaning against the wall, messing on his phone. AJ walks up to him, remaining completely calm. He is at work, there is no way either of them is going to want to do anything to get in trouble at work.

sorry for just WRECKING your dashes tonight

but a few people said they like sickfic inspiration from real life so have a few medication-related stories!

  • I have a dumbass friend who, instead of measuring out nyquill, just took a big mouthful and considered that a dose. Of course, that made him so drunk off Nyquill that he forgot he took it and he took it again later when he still didn’t feel better, and then once more, until his roommate came home and found him puking and super incoherent
  • I am a dumbass who, when the insomnia was SO bad at one point in my life, like going three days without sleep and no medication would help, I got desperate, and would combine things. two xanax and an ambien, or six benedryl and some trazodone. One time, I took so many things that I felt myself go into the beginnings of respiratory duress in the night–like, I woke up because breathing was a conscious effort. The last conversation I had had with my boyfriend at the time was him saying “this is a terrible idea” and me sending a picture of a nonchalant rabbit that said “it’ll be fine.” I maintained that it would have been really funny if I’d died and that nonchalant rabbit gif had been my last words.
  • Two or three years ago, I had minor surgery, and I woke up from anesthesia really cold and shivering, which isn’t uncommon, especially in petite people like me. The nurses put a bunch of heated blankets on me, and I was still shivering, and so they had to put two heaters under my blankets, and I was still shivering, so they had to push a muscle relaxant in my IV. My parents came back to find me underneath a literal blanket mountain with two heaters fuckin shoved inside it and a bunch of nurses who were just so sad about how small and cold I was. I dug my lil hand out for a thumbs up.

Cherokee Medicine

“Didanawisgi is the Cherokee word for medicine man. A common thread woven through all Native American remedies is the idea of “wellness” a term recently picked up by some in the modern medical professions. A state of “wellness” is described as “harmony between the mind, body and spirit.” The Cherokee word “tohi” - health - is the same as the word for peace. You’re in good health when your body is at peace. The “medicine circle” has no beginning and no end and therefore represents a concept of “harmonious unity.”

Cherokee medicine is a prevention-based system that incorporates the whole person, rather than the cure-based system that is used by most modern doctors of medicine today, which focuses on the disease. It is the belief among American Indian “doctors” that to achieve wellness we must have a strong connection to all things natural and both create and receive harmony not only within ourselves, but also in all our relationships. Once harmony is restored, illness and other health distortions simply disappear. To some, this would be a “cure.” In the Cherokee tradition, this is just good health - the way it should be.

Here the goal is to first help the patient recover - to cure the sickness rather than treat the symptoms- to help the patient find his or her balance - the harmony of our living. The ceremony performed is as important as the potion or salve made from the plants or herbs. This is what is now known as holistic healing - a healing of the complete person.

The United States Pharmacopoeia, which is the modern doctor’s drug Bible, (companion to the Physician’s Desk Reference or PDR -the one that lists all the known side effects of every drug used by modern doctors), first appeared in 1820, and listed over two hundred drugs used by american Indians and aquired from natural plants. Those 200 cures represented 90% of what was listed in that first Pharmacopoeia. Since then, 1000s of new drugs have been chemically created in labs which try to replicate and alter the active ingredients in plants already perfected by nature.

There is a legend among the Cherokee that tells of the origin of medicine. It tells how the animals and birds met in council to decide what to do about the encroachment of man upon their world and how carelessly he was treating them. One by one they listed ailments and maladies that would afflict the humans. Had they succeeded, humans would surely have disappeared by now. But nearby, listening to the council were the plants and herbs and, not being troubled by the humans, they agreed to supply a remedy for each and every one of the diseases the animals wanted to thrust upon humankind.

Cherokee Medicine Men

Cherokee medicine people can be male or female. They believe there are evil medicine people and good ones. In fact, there are many kinds of medicine people in the Cherokee culture. Just as many modern doctors specialize in one area of expertise, so do most natural healers. Most medicine people are really good at curing some things, and don’t even try to cure others. And like modern medicine practitioners, there are still a few general practitioners who will try to treat most things, but will refer you to someone else if it’s something beyond their personal knowledge.

When something happens outside their realm of understanding, that cannot be explained by the rules of their culture, Cherokee people will say someone has been practicing bad medicine.

The Cherokee believe in witchcraft, but not in the context witches are thought of in anglo cultures. There are two kinds of witches in cherokee culture: ordinary witches and killer witches. Ordinary witches are considered more dangerous since a person can never be sure he is dealing with one, and they are more difficult to detect and counteract. They may deceive a medicine person, and cause them to prescribe the wrong cure if not guarded against. One killer witch who is still spoken of often today, and is mentioned in many Cherokee legends of the Cherokee Nation is the Raven Mocker.

Cherokee medicine men and women study for many years, and learn specific treatments from a written Cherokee syllabary given to them by their mentors. It is forbidden for anyone to look at this book if it isn’t theirs, and it is often written in code, or parts are passed on verbally to keep the whole from falling into the wrong hands. Medicine ceremonies which are incomplete or performed out of context can do more harm than good and in the hands of the untrained can be downright dangerous.

Some Cherokee people see only Cherokee medicine people for mental or physical illnesses. Others prefer a combination of treatment from a medicine man and conventional modern medicine. Some Cherokees no longer believe in the powers of traditional medicine people.
The Cherokee Medicine Apprentice (tsila)

Cherokee medicine (nvwoti) is an ancient system of medical/spiritual knowledge and practices that developed over the last 3,000-4,000 years.Training in Cherokee medicine takes 15-20 years and the apprentice (tsila) needs to master seven interconnected areas of knowledge:

1. Herbal Medicine - an in-depth knowledge of 400-600 plants, their medicinal and ceremonial uses as well as the plants “personality”. Many apprentices/medicine people today only know 100-200 of these plants and their uses.

2. Physical Medicine - including the unique Cherokee massage (hiskoliya) using persimmon woodstampers, moxabustion, minor surgery, and midwifery.

3. Dreamwork - not only how to interpret dreams, but how to use them for personal growth, healing, and to gain knowledge.

4. Language/Myths/Laws - Cherokee is a language of amazing subtlety and power. The tsila learns not only the subtleties of every day spoken Cherokee, but a separate “medicine” language. Stories, myths, and laws give meaning to the world and help us to understand our place in the Great Life.

5. Ceremonies - the Cherokee traditionally had 7 major ceremonies, 6 of which marked the important yearly cycles, such as the first new moon of Spring, green corn harvest, mature corn harvest, falling leaves festival, and the beginning of winter/exulting ceremony. Many of these ceremonies are still done today and are as meaningful now, if not more so, than in times past.

Ceremonial practice also includes various types of personal, family, community, and national ceremonies that help maintain balance within the individual, the family, the community, and the nation.

6. The laws of nature - keen observers, the Cherokee have for thousands of years paid attention to the world around them. This collected body of knowledge is extensive and it explains why things act as they do and the cause and effect of their interrelationship - why animals behave certain ways, how the sun and moon interrelate, how men and women interact, the nature of water, the fire, the earth (ela), and so on.

7. Conjuring - although there is no really good word in English to describe this, various words -conjuring, magic, manipulation, partially explain this practice. This is the ability to enlist the aid of spirits and elemental powers to change things, to heal or doctor, to “change one’s mind”, to bring luck and to protect the sick or weak from negative influences. In some Christian churches, this is called faith healing.

When the world was still young, the Cherokee (ani yvwiya) received much of their traditional medicine and ceremony from two sources. Stone Clad (nvyunuwi), an ancient wizard (ada'wehi), showed the people the dual nature of life. First he preyed on the Cherokee, then later when they killed him he gave them many of their songs, ceremonies and formulas.

To the Cherokee, the use of herbs is only one tool of many necessary for regaining one’s health. Traditionally it was (and still is) believed that it is crucial to not only heal one’s body, mind and spirit, but to re-integrate the ill person with the family, the community and the Earth. This is a holistic perspective beyond our culture’s limited understanding. None of us can truly be well unless we recognize our connection to the rest of the Great Life.

Cherokee pharmacopoeia of medicinal plants and herbal remedies

The botanical diversity in Western North Carolina is extensive; it is estimated that in times past the average ani yvwiya would have been familiar with 100-200 plants and a medicine priest (didahnewisgi) might know as many as 600 useful plants. From this tremendous quantity of available plants, many commonly used Cherokee medicines made their way into American medical practice.

We can thank the Cherokee and othe rEastern native peoples for introducing many of our most popular botanical remedies. While many useful plants became widely used by herbalists and physicians, others were underutilized or totally neglected. Today, many herbalists limit their materia medica to a small variety of herbs. This over-reliance on a few plants has contributed to the decimation of many wild plant populations. (i.e. Ginseng,Ladies Slipper, Goldenseal, Bethroot, and more recently Echinacea angustifolia, Lomatium, and Helonias).

Are we using these plants with respect? The Cherokee use a great variety of medicines not only to prevent overutilization of species, but also because they believe that every plant has its specific use in relationship to human ailments.

Contributions Towards a Cherokee Pharmacopoeia

Each plant in this obviously partial listing is an effective medicine and, equally important, is abundant throughout large areas of the U. S. or is easy to cultivate.

BALMONY (Chelone glabra)
Taste: bitter
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: herb
Dosage: Herb tea: 1 tsp. dried herb to 8 oz. of water, steep 1 hour. Drink 4 oz. before meals.
Dosage: Extract: 30-40 drops, 3 times per day.
Western classification: aperient, anthelmintic, bitter tonic, cholagogue.

Balmony or Turtlehead is a beautiful herb with either white or pink flowers (C. lyoni). It grows in damp deciduous woods and is frequently found along side of small branches (creeks). Balmony is an effective digestive bitter: stimulating saliva, gastric, liver and gall bladder secretions. It is especially useful for people with poor fat metabolism, usually accompanied by gas, nausea, belching and a chronically sluggish bowel.

Associated skin problems ( psoriasis, eczema or acne) and non-hepatitis jaundice respond to its effects as well. Mixed with other anthelmintics (Elecampane, Garlic, Wormseed, Quassia) it is useful in treating pinworms andgiardia.

DOGWOOD (Cornus florida)
Taste: bitter
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: bark, flower, berries
Cherokee Name: kanvsita
Western Classification: anodyne, antiperiodic, antispasmodic, astringent, bittertonic.
Dosage: Bark tea: ½ tsp. dried bark to 8 oz. of water. Decoct 15 minutes, steep ½ hour.Drink 4 oz. 3 - 4 times per day.

The Dogwood is a small shrubby tree, with lovely early spring flowers. The white flowers (they areactually sepals) have been used as a substitute for Chamomile for colds, colic and flu. The bark was once used similarly to quinine for malaria and other periodic fevers. It is still useful for many chronic fevers, especially if accompanied by diarrhea or muscle aches (Dengue fever). Lower back pain, prolapsed uterus and musclespasms (legs and feet) all respond to regular use of the tea. Mixed with Butternut Bark, Dogwood is effective for pinworms in children. Externally the bark poultice can be used as a wash for bed sores and ulcers.

DWARF GINSENG (Panax trifolium)
Taste: sweet, bitter
Energy: cool, moist
Part Used: root, leaf
Cherokee Name: yunwi usdi
Western Classification: adaptogen, carminative, nutritive.
Dosage: Leaf tea: 1 tsp. dried leaf to 8 oz. of water, steep 1 hour. Drink 2-3 cups per day.

The small, delicate Dwarf Ginseng is a common spring ground cover in Eastern deciduous woods. The small bulbs are edible (rather bland and starchy) and can be cooked in winter stews to strengthen the lungs and resistance to colds. The leaves (which contain Ginsenosides) are added to almost any traditional herb formula to increase its effectiveness and activity. The Dwarf Ginseng, like its larger relative, is used for fatigue, nervous exhaustion, allergies, anorexia and depleted conditions such as chronic fatigue, TB and mononucleosis.

RABBIT TOBACCO (Gnaphalium obtusifolium)
Taste: sweet, bitter
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: herb
Cherokee Name: katsuta equa
Western Classification: astringent, carminative, diaphoretic, expectorant, nervine.
Dosage: Herb tea: 1-2 tsp. dried herb to 8 oz. of water, steep 40 minutes. Drink 2-3 cups per day.

Common in fields and clearings, Rabbit Tobacco is frequently found in Cherokee homes as a remedy. The tea is used for colds, flu, coughs, diarrhea, strep throat and children’s fevers. Mixed with other medicines it is also used for colitis (with Wild Yam and Catnip), asthma (with Lobelia, Wild Cherry Bark and Sweet Cicily) and vaginal candidiasis (with Yellow Root). Externally the tea is applied to cuts, sore muscles and bruises. The leaves are chewed by some people in preference to Tobacco, others mix the two to moderate Tobacco'semetic qualities.

SOURWOOD (Oxydendron arborum)
Taste: sour
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: leaf
Cherokee Name: udoqueya
Western Classification: antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, nervine.
Dosage: Leaf tea: 2 tsp. dried leaf to 8 oz. of water, steep 40 minutes. Drink 2-3 cups per day.

Sourwood with its racemes of white bell-like flowers is a favorite pollen source for mountain bees. The honey from this source is famous for its unique taste and fragrance. In contrast to the honey’s sweetness, the leaves are tart and drying. The leaf tea is an effective urinary tract antiseptic primarily due to its arbutin content. Chronic UTIs with burning urine respond well to its soothing action; it is also beneficial for BPH. The tea is also frequently used for apthous stomatata, thrush, edema, chronic prostatitis, diarrhea, nervous stomach and frazzled nerves (a nice hot cup of the tea with a generous dollop of sourwood honey works wonders!).

SPICEBUSH (Lindera benzoin)
Taste: pungent, sweet
Energy: warm, dry
Part Used: bark, leaf, fruit
Cherokee Name: nodatsi
Western Classification: antiseptic, carminative, diaphoretic, emmenagogue, expectorant.
Dosage: Bark/Herb tea: 1 tsp. dried herb to 8 oz. of water, steep 1 hour (covered).Drink 2 -3 cups per day.

Spicebush is one of the most common understory shrubs throughout second or third growth Eastern forests. Early in the spring it is covered with small yellow flowers which perfume the air. Every part of Spicebush (aka Spicewood) is medicinal; the tea of this herb is used extensively for colds, flu, coughs, nausea, indigestion, croup, flatulence and amenorrhea. The inhaled steam is used to clear clogged sinuses and the decoction of the twigs makes a soothing bath for arthritic pain (some of the tea is also taken internally). Spicebush is also commonly used as a beverage tea and the fruits can be used as a spice in baking.

SUMACH (Rhus glabra, R. copallina, R. typhina)

Sumachs are small shrubby trees that have highly visible clusters of bright red berries each autumn. Its toxic relative Poison Sumach (R. vernix) has white fruit and prefers swampy areas instead of the dry open environment where other sumachs are found. Sumach berry tea is highly effective for urinary tract infections (itacidifies the urine), thrush, apthous stomatata, ulcerated mucous membranes, gingivitis and some cases of bedwetting (irritated bladder). The fruit tea can be taken hot or chilled as a refreshing beverage similar in taste to Hibiscus or Rose Hips. The bark is a strong astringent (used for diarrhea, menorrhagia) and it has an effect onthe female hormonal system. Traditional the bark is used for alleviating menopausal discomfort (hot flashes, sweating) and as a galactogogue. Externally the berry or bark tea has been used as a wash for blisters, burns and oozing sores. In middle eastern countries, the dried fruit is ground into a powder and used much as Americans use paprika in daily cooking.

Energy: warm, moist
Part Used: root
Western Classification: carminative, demulcent, expectorant, immune tonic, nutritive.
Dosage: Root tea: 1 tsp. dried root to 8 oz. of water. Steep 2 hours (cooking 3-4 hours is evenbetter). Drink 2-3 cups per day.

Sweet Cicily is a small herbaceous member of the Apiaceae family. Growing in moist woodlands, it is easy to overlook until you sample its sweet anise-tasting root. Cherokee have long considered this root to bean important medicine for increasing strength, weight and resistance to disease. The tea can be used for colds, sore throats, dry coughs, flu and digestive disturbances (gastritis, nausea, gas). Sweet Cicily strengthens what the Chinese call the “wei qi”, making it useful for preventing colds and other external pernicious influences. The root can be used as a substitute for licorice or astragalus with many similar applications.

TULIP TREE (Liriodendron tulipifera)
Taste: bitter
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: bark
Cherokee Name: tsiyu

Tulip Tree or Tulip Poplar is a large, straight growing member of the Magnolia family. Its yellow, green and orange flowers are large and showy and they mature into a densely packed cone of winged seeds. The smooth young bark harvested in the spring makes a wonderful basket perfect for gathering herbs or berries. This same bark is used as a medicine for periodic fevers, diarrhea, pinworms, as a digestive aid and for rheumatic pain. The decoction is used as a bath for fractures, sprains, hemorrhoids and is applied to snakebites received in dreams (if left untreated, traumatic arthritis will often develop in the area bitten).

YELLOW ROOT (Xanthorhiza simplicissima)
Taste: bitter
Energy: cool, dry
Part Used: root

Cherokee Name: dalanei

Western Classification: antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, bitter tonic, cholagogue.

Yellow root is a shrubby berberine containing plant that is found growing along branches and springs. It is abundant throughout the southeast and is regularly substituted for the increasingly scarce Golden Seal. Xanthorhiza is milder than Hydrastis but is more appropriate for long term use. It is especially effective as a digestion/liver bitter for people with sluggish bowels, a tendency towards hemorrhoids and faulty fat digestion. Mixed with fresh Black Walnut hull extract and Spilanthes, Yellow Root is an effective treatment for local thrush,(vaginal candidiasis) and systemic candidiasis. The tea makes a soothing gargle for strep throat, apthous stomatata, ulcerated mucus membranes, herpes and pyorrhea. Externally it is useful for conjunctivitis, bedsores, bleeding hemorrhoids, ringworm and athletes foot.”

Prompt #28: Nick's had a minor surgery and is under heavy anesthesia. The incredibly secret fox is about to answer some of Judy's most pressing questions. And she's got some deep ones. What's his real age, why the Hawaiian shirts, does he have anyone he likes? Some real hard hitting questions that that she'd never again have the chance to find out.

Sorry for the delay in filling prompts again…I was just lazy…

—-

Nick was well…out of it.

Giggling at every little thing, and rediscovering everything he knew for fact with great awe and wonder.  Completely light and unweighted down but life and the past.  His motor skills cranked to an almost crawl, while his brain was both hot wired on his amazement and drowsy from the medications.

Basically just really really high from the anesthesia and the morphine.

Which might be been humorous had he not just been hit in the arm by a ricocheting bullet during shoot out.  Or had it not required a standardized routine surgery, that the doctors assured her was nothing major, to get the bullet out.  Or if they weren’t in a hospital.

“You’re wittle nose is wiggling.”  Nick observed dumbly, but falling into a fit of giggles at the sight of it.

“Just a little anxious,”  Judy stated with a shrug.  She frowned a little as Nick reached across his bed to tap her nose, but merely ended up just laying his finger on his nose.  She smiled breathed out a laugh when the fox stupidly grinned at her, and took his paw into her own.  “I don’t really like hospitals.”

“It’s not that bad.”  Nick returned loopily.  “I’ve had way worse, like three breaths form dying kind worse, and I got better.  And I didn’t even go to hospital then.”

“What?”  Judy asked shocked.

Her eyes wide in panic and worry, because she knew Nick had been and had his own fair share of altercation.  Yet she never assumed he would have almost died before.  Or that he would drop the fact so nonchalantly while on a cocktail medications.

The fox just nodded with a hum.  “It’s how I meet Big.  He thought I was going to die, like 5 times, but nope!”  Nick continued excitedly, smiling like was the coolest fact in the world.  “And I was like fifteen.”

Judy started at the fox in shock.  Amazed he just kept dealing the information like it was nothing.  Despite being tight lipped about how he ever meet Big before.

“So, don’t worry, Carrots, tis but a flesh wound, I’ll be fine!”  Nick assured, before he found on of the cords on his bed.

Judy blinked at the fox for a moment.  Watching as he clumsily fiddled with with the cords, dumb smile on his face.  Literally no care in the world as to what he was saying or doing.

Then, suddenly, a thought came to Judy.

“Hey, Nick,” Judy started softly, scooting closer to the fox’s hospital bed.  “Why do you always wear though terrible pattern shirts when you’re off-duty?”

It’s not the most pressing question Judy actually had for a fox, but it’s a test.  To see if his truth dial had truly been turned up the medication.  Because she knows his usual reply of “impeccably fashion sense”, is something of veiled truth.

The fox turn to her, completely unphased by change in subject.  “Home,” Nick stated simply.

“What?”  Judy asked with a raised eyebrow.

“They reminded me of home.”  Nick stated, staring at her in her daze.  “My mom had a similar looking wallpaper in our apartment. I saw it on some fabric and made ‘em myself.  Makes me feel safe…”

“You made those shirts yourself?”

“Dad’s a tailor, I have skills.”  Nick sound proudly.  Smug little grin as he turned to look up at the ceiling.  “I can see faces in the ceiling tiles.”

“Another question for you,”  Judy said leaning in with a bit of smile.  Nick hummed as his hand discovered a the TV remote and he held it up in slight horror and surprise.  “How old are you.”

Nick paused for a moment.  Taking some time to count on his fingers absently.  “34, you know that.  Rabbits good a math, right.  You said that.”

“Really?”

“I don’t lie about my age, Carrots.  It’s bad luck…or something.”  Nick stated easily, fiddling with the buttons of the TV remote.

“Alright, fine.”  Judy huffed.  “How about this, do like anyone?”

“You,”  Nick answered immediately, his green eyes half focusing on the remote, half staring into space.  “I like you.  I like you a lot.  You’re nice, smart, funny, and trusting.”

Judy blinked at the fox in surprise.  Her ears stood tall on his head, and she could feel them growing slightly hot.  Mostly from his immediate answer.  Like he didn’t even have to think about it.  And he just continued complementing her so easily.

“I like Clawhauser too, he’s nice too and he knows were to get good donuts.  Oh and Bogo, I like Bogo too, he’s a good boss.  And Wolford, but don’t tell him.”  Nick continued started to list mammals in his life. From coworkers to his apparent neighbor that gave him baked cookies from time to time.  “Can’t forget Finnick, he’s a pain, but like he’s my oldest friend…”

“No, Nick.”  Judy said with a chuckle.  Realizing he might have misunderstood the exact term the rabbit meant when she asked.   She smiled at the fox, starting to lean against the rails of his bed.  “I mean what I meant was, do like like someone?  You know like, have feelings for.”

Nick turned to her, and started at the gray rabbit for a moment.  He looked at her, actually looked at her straight in the eyes, without seeming droopy or dazed.  “Yeah, you, Carrots.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“Dumb fox,” Judy sighed out.

“Next question please.”  Nick asked, before jumping when he accidentally turned the TV on.

Judy laughed, reaching to take the remote away from the fox and turned the TV off.  Using the time to think up as many more questions as she could think off before the fox dosed off.
