surah

“You’ll never truly understand a verse until something in your life makes you see it and appreciate it in a whole new way.”

I was feeling so down for the past week because of something. Today, i opened the Qur'an to a random page and subhanallah. Of all the surah’s in the Qur'an it could’ve opened to, and it opened to Surah Yusuf. And i found myself crying because of the ayaats i was reading.

Sometimes, things don’t go the way you wanted it to and it hurts. But you just have to find the strength to push the pain aside and remind yourself He is the best of Planners. And He will never leave you empty handed.

What is to come is better than what was.

“So patience is most fitting.”

[Surah Yusuf: 83]

—  Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (2:128)

One of the greatest calamity Musa عليه السلام ever had to face was standing in front of the red sea and not having the option of turning back because fir'aun and his army were behind him.

And the Qur'an mentions the Banu isra'eel despairing, saying, “Indeed, we are going to be taken.”

But subhanallah. Just look at the certainty of Musa عليه السلام. He replied, “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”

And it’s something to reflect upon isn’t it. When we’re faced with a calamity, we always say, “Indeed, we are going to be overtaken.” But we never say what Musa عليه السلام said. We never say,

“Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”

My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous.
