Just got back from Beauty and the Beast

and guys, all that stuff about lefou being bad representation? its wrong. throughout the movie, he gets more and more uncomfortable with what gaston is doing, and then, at the end, in the final dance member, they show him dancing with another guy. also, despite the name, hes not at all as foolish as his animated counterpart. hes shown to be more intelligent than a lot of the villagers who follow gaston around, and even switches sides in the big battle, saving the life of a beloved member of the castle servants. hes a good guy, and, honestly, sure, the representation isnt perfect, but i went into that movie expecting him to be the comic relief character bumbling after gaston, and mooning after him. he wasnt. there was definitely something unrequited there, yes, and he did do some things that were questionable, but hes not portrayed as foolish, or evil. hes one of the most developed characters among the villagers, and he even gets at least a hint of a happy ending when he dances in the final dance number. he makes up for all of his ‘evil’ actions, recognizes them as wrong, and gets his happy ending. please, dont boycott this film. its really good.

also, a bonus: the relationship between belle and the beast is actually really well developed and realistic. theyre both very well developed characters, with touching stories and realistic emotions.

tl:dr: lefou isnt portrayed as an idiot and he gets a happy ending with a random background dude, and also the romance between beast and belle is good

Everyone, PLEASE go support the new Power Rangers movie.

I know basically nothing about the franchise, I was never a fan as a kid, I get it if you’re like ‘idk what even’ about the movie.

I haven’t even seen the movie yet.

But out of the 5 main cast members, 4 are non-white, and of those, 1 is an openly queer Latina, and 1 is black and autistic.

Words can’t express how huge this is.

Not only is this the first openly queer superhero in a blockbuster movie, she is also Latina.

It’s also, the first autistic superhero in a blockbuster movie.

It’s one of the first times I have ever seen a canonically autistic protagonist in a major piece of media, ever, in a narrative that isn’t just about them Suffering About Being Autistic™.

It’s the second black autistic character I’ve ever seen in any form of media, ever, either, and that is incredibly significant. It’s looking like it will be fairly positive representation, which is so important, given the issues that black autistic people face. (More likely to be underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed, more likely to be the victims of police violence and persecution, etc.)

If it doesn’t do well, the diversity of the film will get blamed by Hollywood, rather than any of the individual creative merits of the film itself.

But if this movie succeeds, it could be genuinely groundbreaking, in terms of what is considered viable in terms of casting and representation in major blockbuster movies.

If you want more POC heroes, more queer heroes, more disabled heroes, in your media?

Please, please, go see this movie.

Neo-Nazis call for a boycott of ‘Rogue One: A Story Wars Story’

  • Neo-Nazis are calling for a boycott of Rogue One
  • Their argument is that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is “anti-white” (even though the lead in the film is white).
  • Though perhaps it’s also unsettling for some that the lead also happens to be a woman.
  •  This movement against Rogue One appears to stem from one of its writers, Chris Weitz, tweeting negatively about Trump.
  • It’s led to the hashtag #DumpStarWars trending on Twitter. Read more

Star Wars is so reflective of our real world. You got creepy evil nazis, fascism, science, and Jyn plagiarizing Cassian like she’s Melania and it’s debate season

Gender-fluid actor Kelly Mantle has just made Oscars history by being nominated in best supporting actor and best supporting actress categories

When the movie’s producers decided to submit Mantle for Oscar consideration, they had to appeal to the Academy for a way to acknowledge the actor’s gender identity. When they found out it worked, the movie’s writer director shared this beautiful celebratory post on Facebook.

Gifs: Confessions of a Womanizer

With the little amount of women of color in movies/movie production today, it is an honor to not only be cast as one of the leads, but also to be apart of one of the best teams I know of. I moved to LA with little plans but big hopes, and it is exciting to say the least that my friends and I have come this far in the project. With that said, our kickstarter just recently launched, and we need your support in order to make Karōshi a tangible film. Whether that be through a contribution or a share, it really means a lot. thank you <3

Watch our kickstarter here:

Today, Chanyeol’s mom came to support Kyunhsoo’s movie, calling out to him “Kyungsoo-ya, mum’s here” and gave him flowers fussing over him and people still try to deny how close chansoo are when Chanyeol’s own mother treats him as her son lol. They’re the true brotp and all your claims that they hate each other are in vain; they’re already a damn family get with the times smh.

i hope that in infinity war tony sees nebula’s arm (y’know, assuming shes a member of the guardians/she shows up at all) and is like your metal arm is amazing and i love it - and bucky just kinda mutters under his breath and kicks sullenly at a pebble, my metal arm is pretty cool as well tony, you should totally check me- i mean it out
