Daniel Bryan Vs. William Regal WWE Superstars [November 10th, 2011]
I’ll admit, I initially revisited this match because of the pre-match rib (it has to be seen to be believed). This match takes place not far from where William Regal called home as a youth, as he steps into the ring against one of the only wrestlers in the WWE who Regal could have ever called an equal, Daniel Bryan. The backstory of this match with Bryan being the holder of the Money In The Bank briefcase holder and thus, a future champion in the WWE, with a future built for him partially credited to the teachings of Regal. When Bryan was in the WWE just one year earlier, he cited Regal as someone he wished were his coach on NXT.
This is the kind of match that Bryan wishes he could have had during his entire WWE career. Seeing these two work together, I don’t think anyone would have turned away from a top-level feud with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Bryan is certainly a competitor who would have found a lot of success in European wrestling, which he shows he can hang with in this bout.
