remember that time the supergirl writers decided to change kara’s love interest from a really interesting sensitive black man (and even addressed the whole angry black man stereotype) to a white prince of a planet that owned slaves and thought that was a transition fans would support?
One of my best friends has a daughter who’s eight, and I really wanted to do something where she could watch it and it could be good for her. I wanted to do something that is good for a young teenage girl and that I could be proud of. I wanted to say, ‘This is going to be good for you. You will see strong, capable, wonderful, intelligent, smart women, to show you that everybody can be a million different things and still be a hero.’
In light of the upcoming extended hiatus for Supergirl, bringing back the above quote to remind @thecwsupergirl who their core audience is and why this show is important for a generation of children and young adults.
I hope the writers take the time to revisit their scripts and story ideas … and, as a first step, delete the stories and lines that sound like they came from bad Twilight fan fiction. Take out the leftover toxic trash, and remember this series has always been at its best when it places its strong women characters at the center of their own stories.
Can you believe that at the beginning of season 2 of Supergirl we were all worried that Superman would take over the show. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hahahahahahahahHhhahhHAHAHAHAHAHAHhHHHHhahahahaHahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ha ha
me trying to figure out what went through the writers’ heads when they had kara break up with james in episode 1, just to have her play the “will she, won’t she” game just 10 episodes later with a new guy
also me trying to understand why writers keep having other characters BUT the character in the possible relationship talk about how amazing they are together
“it’s so obvious”
also me trying to figure out why they brought a new character to the show, with great potential for an amazing storyline (evil aliens coming for him, is he the prince etc) just to have him reduced to a simple and shallow comic relief/love interest
