Though it’s not part of the Constitution our current Congress is writing legislation to form this Super Congress that would be a 12-member panel made up of 12 lawmakers, mixed between each chamber and party. Legislation looked by the Super Congress would be fast tracked into law; needing only their vote and then presidential signature. This has come up before, but now both parties are heavily considering writing it into law because of this debt ceiling ordeal. What would classify a legislation ‘important enough’ to go straight to Super Congress, and is this Super Congress even constitutional (since it is not currently part of our government structure)?
We already know that it’s not part of our current Constitution, but is it’s formation going against the body of governance that our forefathers mapped out?
