May I ask why you didn’t seem particularly fond of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Catcher in the Rye?

Perks: I thought it was disjointed to the point of distracting, above all. Perks is this universally loved symbol for adolescence, and I understand why, but as a book, I didn’t like it at all.

Catcher: To be perfectly blunt, I thought Holden was a whiny little shit. I very much doubt that J.D. Salinger intended Holden to be a likeable and relateable guy, and the meaning of his story is not lost on me, but despite that, Holden annoyed me, and I read books for escapism and enjoyment, which I didn’t get with Catcher.
