Sonnenuntergang an der Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg - it’s a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, Northern Germany. It’s one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal; it sits on top of an old warehouse building near the historical Speicherstadt. It was officially inaugurated with concerts of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and a light show in January 2017.
Sunset Boulevard premiered at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on 10 August 1950.
William Holden accompanied Gloria Swanson, followed by Anna Q. Nilsson, Erich Von Stroheim, Buster Keaton & H.B. Warner.
While the film received mostly positive reviews (Time magazine called it “Hollywood at its worst told by Hollywood at its best") many in the industry hated it. Louis B. Mayer confronted director Billy Wilder at a Hollywood screening and said, “You have disgraced the industry that made and fed you! You should be tarred and feathered and run out of Hollywood!“
The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and received 3 (Best Writing - Story and Screenplay, Best Art Direction, and Best Score).
