Summer Makeup Musts Day 2: Nail Polish

For a great summer nail polish I recommend a mint color, so I chose this Color Club nail polish in Blue-Ming. I received this polish in my July Birchbox and you can read a more in-depth review of it in my post here. Overall, I absolutely love this color yet I do not love the formula. Another mint nail polish I’ve heard of but haven’t tried is China Glaze For Audrey.

Summer Makeup Musts Challenge Day 7: Lip Product

If you’re wearing lip products in the summer, the key word to look for is “stain”. You’ll want either a tinted lip balm that has SPF or a lip stain so you don’t have to worry about reapplication. Regular glosses can result in sunburn and lipsticks can sometimes be too heavy! So this product that I’ve received in a past birchbox (link to bb link) combines both a stain and a balm wonderfully! It’s the Tarte Lipsurgence Pencils, and the one I have is in the color Amused which is a hot pink. This product has a pencil tip so it makes precise application a breeze and you can twist the bottom of the pencil to push up the product, so you don’t have to worry about sharpening! On your lips this product feels glossy (they do sell pencils in other finishes) and moisturizing, unlike other drying lip stains! It also wears evenly, so you won’t have to worry about the color looking patchy. Plus reapplication is worry-free without caking and flaking! Overall I love these lip stains and I think they’re perfect for summer! Plus with such a bright color on the lips you can get away with wearing much less makeup on your face!

Summer Makeup Musts Challenge Day 8: Skincare Product

I’m sure this comes as no surprise, but my skincare pick for summer is sunscreen! It’s important to protect your face (don’t forget to get your ears too!) from the sun’s harmful rays! For your body you need to use enough sunscreen to fill a shot glass, and a nickel-sized amount for your face. If your face is sensitive to sunscreen and normally reacts by breaking out, then I really recommend this product. The products that most often irritate skin are the perfumes that companies add into their sunscreens, however you can read that this sunscreen is fragrance-free! Plus it is also oil-free is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog your pores. Even if you don’t get this sunscreen however, pay attention to the labels when you are shopping. Look at the active ingredients (which is usually the sunscreen part of sunscreen) and see which ingredient they’re using. What you’re looking for is Zinc Oxide and not Titantium Oxide. Zinc Oxide is more beneficial to the skin in that it works to repair and heal the skin while protecting it from the sun, whereas Titanium Oxide can be harmful to your skin. Also when you’re in the sun be sure to reapply frequently-I’d say reapply every two hours of sun exposure. Plus you can wear a floppy hat in order to shield your face! So that’s just some of my tips on how to stay protected in the sun, and I hope you guys stay safe in all of your endeavors!

#summermakeupmusts Day 9: hair product. Mine is the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi & Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray. Another product which I don’t have on hand at the moment. Finished one up a couple weeks ago and I’ve been trying to find something just as good from the drugstore but it looks like I’ll be going back to this again! (Taken with Instagram)
