The #mypubliclandsroadtrip Returns for Another Summer of Adventure!

The Bureau of Land Management manages over 245 million acres of public land on behalf of the American people. Last summer, we headed out on a virtual #mypubliclandsroadtrip to “visit” those lands from east to west.

Kicking off today, the #mypubliclandsroadtrip 2016 will feature diverse landscapes and unique resources on your public lands by activity and interest, from the best camping sites to cool geological processes and formations to ghost towns. Follow the virtual roadtrip today through Labor Day, and plan your own adventures. Explore #yourlands.

Want to get involved in the fun? Follow and share #mypubliclandsroadtrip across social media, and add your own photos to the roadtrip through the weekly My Public Lands Instagram challenges!

Explore the stunning lands and waters, wildlife and culture of BLM Alaska with #mypubliclandsroadtrip this week

Travel the Iditarod National Historic Trail by sled.  Boat and fish the “wildest” wild and scenic rivers.  Along the peaceful waters, meet veterans and their families at a Project Healing Waters event.  Go behind the scenes with a real reindeer herder, and so much more.

Follow the roadtrip stops here, and the roadtrip progress at mypubliclands.tumblr.com/roadtrip.

Pack Your Bags - We’re Going on a Roadtrip!

The BLM manages over 245+ million acres of amazing public lands and resources. Today, we’re kicking off the #mypubliclands Summer Roadtrip to visit those lands throughout the summer.

Moving east to west, we’ll spend a week in each state or group of states where the BLM manages lands, mostly in the west. Along the way, we’ll visit breathtaking wild landscapes, explore one-of-a kind resources and events, and go behind-the-scenes with employees in the field. From ghost towns to Burning Man to bat research, we’ll have something for everyone.

You can read individual roadtrip posts here, and then track our progress all summer on http://mypubliclands.tumblr.com/roadtrip. We’ll add our “stops” to the map along the way, in real time.

And we’re inviting you to participate through weekly Instagram challenges! Each Monday through Saturday of the summer, tag your photos with #mypubliclandsroadtrip, and we’ll post our favorites each Sunday.  Learn the rules of the road on http://mypubliclands.tumblr.com/roadtripinstagram.

Join us tomorrow morning as we head out for a stop in Maryland and then down to the Florida coast!
