Great enrichment for summer to keep your fuzz butts cool. They also give your rats new textures to feel with their noses, paws, tongue and teeth. And they get to make as mess and chew away at the same time and all rat owners know rats love doing both of those!
Ingredients: 1/2 of a tomato,1 carrot, a few cashews, a handful of chopped cucumber, 5 baby spinach leaves and 200ml of Lactose free baby formula.
Put all ingredients into a blender, blend, pour into ice cube trays and freeze over night.
Instead of lactose free baby formula you could also try lactose free milk or just add in some water. Try it with differnt combinations of fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts. (****note that if your icey blocks contains milk or nuts, to much to often may be to fatty for your rats****).
Try sticking the cubs on a rodent safe kebab stick (sold at pets stores and online) for a bit of an extra challenge for them. Cut the blocks into smaller pieces and hide them about their cage or play pen.
