(( First time doing anything like this; writing fan fiction that is. It’s for my good friend Hailey. The perspective switches from Dave to Jade every paragraph, starting with Dave. Merry christmas! ))
It’s been a couple years since you’ve visited your hometown. Everybody seems to packed up and left though, just like you did. It’s still the same old sleepy town, just without the familiar faces. You take a moment to admire the Christmas tree the town sets up every December in the town square; it’s battered but still standing. But there’s something else - A figure beneath the tree. She almost looks familiar. Certainly not though, she left with everyone else, right? You draw closer, eyes lighting up behind your aviators. It is her.
It was tough watching all your friends pack up and move away, leaving you all alone. Christmas was an especially hard time, too many memories. It’s snowing lightly and more than a bit chilly, so you walk briskly. When you and your friends were younger, you would meet a few days before Christmas and left a letter to the big man himself in the box under the tree - It was stupid, you knew he wasn’t real. But every year you went and every year it was the same request on the letter. “Bring him home” it read in hastily scribbled pen. You reach the tree and deposit the letter, sitting beneath it. It would probably be best to forget about it all, really. To forget about him. You close your eyes and sigh, singing old Christmas carols to pass the time.
That voice was unmistakable. It was impossible, but there she was. Just as beautiful as she had always been. You walk as quietly as you can and sit next to her, thankfully unnoticed. You are content to sit in silence for some time, just listening to her voice.
The singing only helps a little while and it eventually tapers down. You fight back the tears but it’s no use. Why did they all have to go and leave you? All your friends and even your family. No sooner than a few moments that you began, warm arms envelop you and and a familiar voice called out. “Well that’s just no good. Where’s that Harley smile I came to see?”
You hold her close, it had been too long and you couldn’t bear to see her like this. She calls your name, clearly surprised. ” ‘Sup.” you reply simply. As soon as the words left your mouth she buried her head in your jacket, sobbing loudly. ” I won’t leave you again.” you promise to her, and that only makes it louder. You issue the occasional comforting word, smiling. But there’s something else. Warm liquid rolls down your face, seemingly alien. You are confused for a moment, but quickly understand. It doesn’t take long for tears to consume you both; But they aren’t entirely sad. Of joy; Of relief. The sounds echo the empty square, disappearing into the cold night.
