Hair Masks/Body Scrubs💕

These are my personal favorite recipes that I use on a regular basis!

Sugar Body Scrub- Mix a ½ cup of white sugar, ¾ cup of brown sugar, a couple of tablespoons of olive oil (or whatever oil you have in your house, and vanilla extract or essence! Smells great and exfoliates while also moisturizing!!

Salt Scrub- Mix 1 cup of salt with ¼ cup of coconut oil, and add a few drops of essential oil if desired! More abrasive than sugar for people with tougher skin- good for exfoliating feet!

All Purpose hair mask- Mix ½ cup of olive oil (I find it works the best on the widest variety of hair types, my own included) with ¼ cup of honey. Heat and stir until combined, but don’t boil. Pour into a container and let cool until it is warm to the touch. Apply the warm mixture to dry hair and put on a shower cap. Leave for 15-20 minutes, then rinse out. BE CAREFUL, the oil will make your tub/shower VERY SLIPPERY. Use shampoo to get the excess oil out of your hair, and clean the tub or shower so nobody falls!!!

As some of my followers have helpfully pointed out, lemon juice and baking soda CAN be harmful to your skin if used excessively or on the wrong skin type. Please be cautious using these ingredients. I personally have TRIED all of these masks myself, I’m never gonna post stuff like this without guaranteeing it works. I had no problems with either ingredient, my skin looked and felt fine, but that is not a guarantee that the same will pertain to you. Please be careful, test any dicey products or ingredients on your hand or arm and make sure that they are not abrasive before applying to your skin, and perhaps lessen the concentration of these ingredients when making these masks if you still choose to make them. Thank you to everyone for reblogging with the reminder that some ingredients can be harmful, I completely forgot to add that disclaimer. Stay safe hoes💖

Hey! I have a kind of random question: what korean beauty products do u use?? I am really curious bc I need recommendations? Sorry; it's a weird question.

It’s a great question, don’t worry! I can understand that, I love finding something new (and if that something new fits me perfectly then I’m super happy so!)

Sweats, I have a lot of stuff though so it might be a bit long-ish…

I’ll just start with skincare because it’s always what I’m looking for first:

The Face Shop Rice water bright rich cleansing oil (from normal to dry skin). The first cleansing oil I actually tried. It’s a pleasure using it, the smell is amazing, I will definitely buy it again. Removes make-up well for me, but I’ve read people saying it has a bit of a trouble re-moving very strong make-up, but since I don’t use it I’ll give it an A+.

• I have a few foams; one from The Face Shop as well - Rice water bright cleansing foam. Smells amazing as well, I nearly finished it. I have one stored I want to try, so not yet sure if I buy it again, but I love this one too. Also I have one from Skinfood Egg white pore foam - I think I’ll buy this one. These two might be a bit drying to your skin if using without a uh..bubble maker? Not sure how that thing called in english. It dried me out, I made that thing that helps making richer foam, now I don’t have any dryness so! Skinfood will probably be great for oilier skin.

• Theeen I have The Secret key’s Milk brightening toner. Still not sure about it, I broke out a lot when I was using it, but I am not sure if it was from it or from..period, I’m sorry, Still haven’t retried it, so don’t have an opinion except that I think the smell is pretty good.

• UUH i bought a lot of creams in the search for the perfect one. I have Tony Moly Pure eco snail moisture gel (smells fantastic, used it for the face a lot, didn’t break out, nothing really changed nor for the worst nor for the better, now use it mostly on my hands); I also recently bought Mizon’s All in one Snail repair cream (because I REALLY REALLY want a few marks to fade); comparing to Tony Moly’s it does make skin very soft to the touch. But I’ve been using it for like, six days, so other than that I can’t say how effective it’s going to be. Doesn’t quite smell, pleasant to use. Depending on how it goes next, I think I’ll re-buy it. I also use Aloe Soothing Gel by Nature Republic. used it all the time before i bought Mizon’s, never broke out. for now uh.. I kind of use it after shaving. HUGE container. I wonder if I will be able to finish it before it expires. Next (GOd, there are so many) Skinfood Fresh Apple sparkling water cream. Use it before make-up. It’s supposed to keep your skin matte, I love the smell of it, nice to use. My skin is pretty normal, so I don’t know how much it actually does what it’s supposed to. I’ll try it in summer and find out:”D

• nooow MASKS. oh, my love. sweet, sweet masks. I think my AAABsolute favourite is Skinfood’s Black sugar wash off mask. A present from my friend. Basically a scrub that you let to stay on your skin after you scrubbed. Smells amazing, leaves skin suuuper soft afterwards, will definitely 100% buy it again. Theeen I have Volcanic ash pore pack by secret nature. After using it the skin seems a bit brighter, a bit softer. Nothing too outstanding, but it’s fairly pleasant overall. I wanted to try Holika Holika’s Soda Pore Cleansing Bubble mask BECAUSE O MY GOD. BUBBLES. ON. MY FACE. BUBBLES. I swear I’m a child. I WAS REALLY CURIOUS OKAY. Pretty much the same effect as with Volcanic ash pore. Probably one time fun for me. (I mean. one bottle time, ahah). Theeen I wanted to try Elizavecca’s Hell Pore Clay mask, I think it was the first mask I bought. Wasn’t painful for me, skin is pretty soft afterwards, but I don’t think it does much for my skin? Probably because I don’t quite have that much to push out. It doesn’t quite catch it. Can remove dead skincells though, I’m sure. God. IS this all? No. I recently bought Holika Holika Honey Sleeping pack (I have canola); I’m still not sure, I had quite a big zit when I went to bed with it, in the morning it was, like, much paler and didn’t feel on my skin. Was it the mask’s doing? was the zit supposed to fade away? Not yet sure, since I bought it very recently with mizon. For masks I think that’s all. Kinda sticky because of the honey, but smells nice.

• I have one emulsion by The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke. Moisturising, smells good, make-up goes smoothly on it.

• the last for skincare: Ciracle pore control blackhead off sheet. I only used it twice, and it’s quite tricky and I guess takes some used to. basically does the job of steaming the face without steam and probably works a bit better. Pushes out everything from your nose, you just have to remove it. Didn’t push out as much as I’ve seen on pictures and in reviews for me, but it does it’s job. Nose is as smooth as a jellyfish. SO SMOOTH afterwards.

FINALLY I THINK WE ARE DONE WITH SKINCARE. OH DEAR GOD, not a million of products have passed.

Nooooow up to Make-uuuup~~

• BB CREAMS. I swear on those. I. am. a nerd. Before I tried any bb or cc creams that are sold in our stores they never fit me ever. They always felt so greasy and dark for me. I don’t know, I had the curse of bb creams and now i think it’s finally gone. The first korean one I tried was Aritaum Full Cover. The coverage IS nice, can be a bit shiny in a certain lighting, and feels pretty heavy on the skin. I think my problem with it was mostly my dislike for powders, so it felt sticky, but I think with people who DO use powders it’s going to work better. After that I tried Holika Holika Petit BB (Moisturizing). MY LOVE STARTED. I love how it feels, in certain lighting it makes the skin seem absolutely perfect, pleasant on daylight, doesn’t fell like a mask on a skin. Has universal tone. The Last one is CC, actually, but not less amazing. I’ve been using mostly it recently, CC Color change blemish balm. This one is MAAGIC because it’s like greenish-white, and then you put it on the face, and it turns into your face and it’s MAGIC i swear I love how it feels(doesn’t) on the skin, the coverage is decent for me, Baaaarely noticeable on the skin. I’ll definitely buy holika holika and this one again.

• as for concealers I have Aritaum Full cover liquid concealer for undereye (the tube is huge for concealer, I’m not sure if I will ever finish it since it takes such a minimum for me); and Facetone Creamy Tip concealer for any spots. Good coverage, most likely I’ll buy it as well.

• I have Sweet Cotton pore cover base by Holika Holika, still not sure about it, doesn’t quite hide pores much, at least for me, but the make up does seem to stay longer with it. I’ve read the reviews for people to whom it really worked in regard of hiding pores, so! Might just be me, striving for absolute perfection.

• I have A’pieu Cheek Chok blush. Overall nice, but I think it’s a bit too pigmented for me and it seems to be a bit hard to blend. Creamy texture, but not quite as creamy as I wanted.

• last but not least… tints. Fresh cherry tint, pleasant texture, but I think I picked a bit of a wrong shade for me, though if I use it with The Saem’s Saemmul Real Tint (it’s orangish) it gives a fantastic effect. I also have the latter in dark purple. Love those tints, stay forever (especially the dark one - which is also quite hard to wash off) surprise, tint leaves a tint! :”D Love these, gotta buy again most likely. If I ever finish those, ahah.

I’ve been writing this message for so long. I’m sorry it’s huge. I’m sorry I’m a nerd when it comes to makeup and skincare. Goodbye, money, GOODBUY. ;)

hey, baby, how do you feel about being my newest obsession?
it’ll be sweet for the first couple weeks
you’ll get so many poems
with your name as the title and
you’ll realize how wild i can be.
it’ll be blissful, baby, i swear
‘cause i’ll always be there, playing exactly
who you need.

but you’ll notice that i always smell like booze and cigarette smoke
and my eyes glaze over when you tell me your problems.
you realize you’ll never live up to my fantasy version of you
so why even bother?
the obsession is getting a bit too creepy, anyway.

i drink orange juice with the clear korean liquor my roommate left in the fridge
the sugar masks the gasoline taste,
so i don’t realize i’ve had too much 'til i wake up with my head pounding and stomach revolting.

what i’m trying to say is when you leave
i won’t blame you.

first-year overwatch recap

happy anniversary, overwatch!!! god i can’t believe how attached i’ve gotten.
i’ve been playing this damn game since the day of its release, and it started out pretty damn different from what we have now. if you’re newer to the party, here’s what went on, roughly chronologically:

  • tracer’s butt controversy
  • shield-shatter pharah
  • turret bastion with a fucking reinhardt shield
  • swift-strike bleed effect
  • weekly brawls
  • 150hp zenyatta
  • gremlin d.va
  • that fucking impossible zenyatta achievement
  • d.va dying in her own ult
  • the bug with spawning as a random hero in lucioball and murdering the defenseless opposing lucios
  • tracer recalling inside the payload
  • roadhog hook with extremely questionable mechanics
  • getting competitive mode
  • d.va just being an incredibly shitty hero overall
  • ANA
  • everyone trying to prove shrike ana is sombra
  • the fall of genji
  • ana changing practically the entire metagame
  • getting laugh and sit emotes for everyone
  • EICHENWALDE
  • canon gremlin d.va emote
  • generous ana/the candy fairies
  • photobombing the bosses in junkenstein’s revenge
  • everyone predicting/drawing ethereal decaying cloaked glitch-ghost sugar skull mask sombra
  • sombra’s shitty arg
  • actual sombra design leaking. two separate times.
  • SOMBRA [proper character/short release]
  • that first like week on PTR sombra could glitch out of map boundaries
  • d.va still being a shitty hero even after multple buffs
  • roadhog’s hook still going through walls
  • getting arcade mode
  • no longer being able to choose duplicate heroes in QP
  • gee symmetra how come blizz lets you have TWO ults
  • tremendous amounts of salt over symmetra’s rework
  • “why is mei-rry a legendary”
  • roadhog’s fucking hook
  • n u t y a t t a
  • the glitch in 3v3 where d.va ejected into the void
  • mei escaping watchpoint antartica with her walls
  • OASIS
  • blizzard getting upset that people liked getting hit by the cars on oasis more than its jump pad
  • roadhog hook FINALLY getting fixed so it stops going through walls, only to make roadhog 10x more lethal because tagets of hook 2.0 had zero hope of escaping
  • d.va getting a nerf right after she finally became Good
  • gency discourse
  • YotR mei’s glitched ass
  • getting custom servers (and capture the flag!)
  • doomfist doomfist doomfist
  • the bastion changes that were live for two days before getting altered because it allowed him to survive practically every ult in the game
  • ORISA, coming out of nowhere
  • using custom servers as nsfw rp rooms
  • the rise of SPEED BOOSTIO; we all dspstanky now
  • shimada nipple 2 blackwatch boogaloo
  • ”REYES HERE”
  • ingame reyes shrug victory pose

there are A L O T of little balance changes i didn’t list; honorable mention to the 3x consecutive fan-the-hammer nerf, the invulnerable mercy rez patch, and the [almost] fall of ana, and the phrase “fixed a bug allowing reaper to shadow step to unintended locations in x map” appearing in pretty much every single patch since the beginning.
and some onging fanstuff honorable mentions to “hanzo is a fucking furry [and into vore]”, “can we go one fucking event without tracer getting a legendary skin”, “torblefeet” [and just. torbjorn in general.], and the whole dad76/family dynamic among the characters that quickly took hold among fans [and even blizz to an extent!]

the meta is a far cry from where it was in the beginning and there’s so many more ways to play overwatch now than when it’d first started, but it’s always been that same fun game with fun characters; here’s to another year of its evolution, and enjoy the event y’all!

The Giant Post of DIY Skincare!

Hello lovlies! I have neglected this blog a little- I’m so sorry! I’m going to get right back on track asap. Today I’m going to talk about some things you can do at home from things you can find in your kitchen (if you’re in a dorm room or something these are things you can easily find and store in there as well) and they are very easy to make and use.

Just a a forewarning- I won’t be giving exact measurements, only because  it depends on what you’re using it for (e.g. are you wanting it for your face or body?) Depending on what your intended use is, you’ll need to decide for yourself how much is necessary. I will just try to tell you the proper ratio you need. Okay whew. I feel like that was a long intro. Sorry. Let’s get started!

Masks

Yogurt & Honey ||  This mask is great if you find your skin is dull or lackluster. It’s perfect for all skin types, it will nourish dry skin and bring radiance while controlling oil on oilier skin. Yogurt by itself has such amazing skin benefits, when I was in high school I would come home from school and apply a thin layer of plain yogurt to my arms and face- it feels nice and cool and if you apply it after coming inside from the sun it counteracts the UV rays and helps to prevent sun damage. It’s kind of amazing. The lactic acid, zinc, and calcium in yogurt are all extremely beneficial to the skin. It will brighten your complexion, it helps treat dark spots and active acne, and it also has anti-ageing properties. Did I mention it’s also packed with anti-oxidants? Amazing.

So like I said before, you can apply a layer of yogurt on your skin on its own, or you can also add a drizzle of honey with it. Honey is also an excellent skin nourishing ingredient, it has antibacterial properties and is excellent if you are using this mask for the treatment of acne, it will also unclog your pores and shares the anti-ageing benefits of yogurt.

Now, when choosing the yogurt go for something that is plain, not flavored. And try to find a yogurt that is full fat with live cultures for best results. As for the honey, raw honey is best but if you can’t find raw honey, just make sure that it is pure honey.

Egg White & Honey ||

I myself have oily skin, so I tend to look for things that will control the oil and balance my skin. Egg whites are really good for oily skin, so I don’t recommend this for dry skin types but if you have combination skin then it should be good. Egg whites  also give your skin a glowy appearance as well as tightening the skin, so this is a good mask to do if you have more mature skin (my mom loves this mask). You’ll want to mix two egg whites with a drizzle of honey until the mixture is frothy- don’t whip the eggs into a meringue, that is not the consistency you want. It’s a pretty drippy mask but it dries very quickly. This is a good mask to do the morning or night before a big event because it will make your skin look beautiful and luminous.

Scrubs

Lemon & Sugar || Sugar is an awesome natural exfoliant. Lemon juice is very acidic and might irritate your skin if you are sensitive, so make sure to test out a little bit on your skin before using it in a mask or scrub. If it causes an irritation for you, try diluting it with some water. It has skin/acne spot lightening properties and it will also treat acne because it has antibacterial properties. (You can make a honey+lemon juice mask or spot treatment for acne as well) I recommending using this scrub for your skin, if you have acne on your face and body focus on those areas, and I would avoid using this for a lip scrub because the lemon juice might dry them out. You can use brown or white sugar, but not powdered sugar (obviously you need a less fine, more abrasive type of sugar). Mix roughly 2 parts sugar to 1 part lemon juice, add more lemon juice if it seems to dry but you don’t want it to be a drippy mixture.

Coconut Oil & Sugar || Coconut oil is moisturizing, sugar is exfoliating. Put them together and you have an awesome scrub. Again, 2 parts sugar to 1 part coconut oil. You don’t need to melt the coconut oil before using it for this scrub.

Hair Treatments

Coconut Oil || The amount of oil you will need will depend on how much hair you have. Gently melt this in the microwave and massage it into your hair with your hands. Leave it for at least thirty minutes before rinsing it off in the shower. Your hair will look shiny and well conditioned. You can do this every week and it will make your hair very healthy.

Olive Oil || You can use this the same way as the coconut oil, it will do the same thing. You can also mix the two. Both are very good for your hair. You don’t need to heat it before applying it.

Other Tips

Banana Peel || Banana peels have great acne treating nutrients in them. The next time you have a break out, gently rub the inner part of the banana peel onto the affected area. Do this each day and you will notice how good of a spot treatment this is for acne. You will want to use a fresh banana peel for this each time.

Okay, that is all I am leaving you with today. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! I hope this was helpful and I will be doing more posts like this in the future. I hope you have a lovely day! :)

A Breach of Trust: Chapter 23

(Act 1: Chapter 1-9 )

(Act 2: Chapter 10-18 )

(Act 3: Chapter 19, Chapter 20, Chapter 21, Chapter 22)

When Tetsuo slipped back into the office on the morning of October 10th, everything sat exactly as he’d had left it, as though nothing had changed. The papers on his desk had been left untouched. They were printed copies of casefiles Tetsuo had been picking through before he left work on the evening he encountered Reigen, the evening he’d entered the Mogami house, the evening he’d learned the truth of what had been happening to his hazy memory, of what had been inside him.

Tetsuo skimmed a hand over the papers, as though to check that they were even real. They didn’t seem real, nor did they look it. They felt like they belonged in a photograph, filed away in some strictly “before” time of his life, when now he was so terrifyingly mired in “after”. The two weren’t compatible. Nothing could possibly exist from the time when he felt safe.

“Hey stranger. First day on the job?”

Except for Isa.

Tetsuo glanced up from his papers. Isa stood at the edge of his desk, weight leaning slightly into the hip she used to support the stack of papers held between her body and right arm. The stack was easily two inches thick, and Isa did not use her right hand to support it. Both hands were occupied with near identical Styrofoam white cups. Tetsuo craned his neck to see into them. The contents of one were a swirly, milky beige. The other was black.

“Sorry lady. I may be new, but I’m happily married,” Tetsuo answered, catching up with her teasing.

“Haha,” Isa responded, her voice flat. “You’re not my type anyway, beardy.”

My life & face masks!!

This is the first time I’m talking about my life in this blog. My mum has a serious “boyfriend” for the first time since her divorce with my dad. It’s actually her boss which turns out has MUCH more money than I thought. He’s a nice gentleman and they seem so happy and in love it’s a win-win situation honestly! My mum is no sugar baby guys and has no idea about my aspirations 😂. We just got genuinely lucky! Anyways I’ve been on vacation since August 1st and have spent most of my time at the new house “they” rent (he pays for everything lol) at a Greek island (we live in Greece anyways so not that big of a deal) and he also bought land here and planning to build a huge house with pool, private beach and all the amenities. He is recently divorced and has two kids though their relationship seem really serious (marriage serious) and judging from the way he seems to genuinely care for both me and my brother (and of course mother) I’m confident that I will soon be able to benefit financially on bigger scale from him (we recently “officially” met him.) Im waiting to get back home so I can find a man for myself. Personally I’m not really interested in a sugar daddy, I’m more of a spoiled girlfriend kind of girl and I’ll explain why on a future post (comment on this post if you’d like that so I know!) I think I’ll go browse men at luxury stores 😂 (isn’t Louis Vuitton the best place to find a wealthy man?) or maybe for a drink at a roof garden with the view of acropolis. Anyways, I’m in bed now (the first time I stayed home in a while!) smoking hookah (not the healthiest habit but I’m on vacation!) and wearing a face mask on and I thought why not? So let’s talk a bit about face masks! Honestly, I had really bad skin until about 6 months ago and natural skincare helped me so much! I like using ingredients from my kitchen as they are super cheap and super efficient!!! The mask I’m using right now: Milk, oats & honey: oats sooth and calm the skin, honey is a humectant and attracts moisture and milk mildly exfoliates and gives a glow and suppleness to the skin. Perfect for after a long day at the beach (ALWAYS WEAR spf50+ SUNSCREEN!!!!) Other masks I enjoy: -Greek yogurt, honey & oil: i love hemp and grapeseed oil (my skin is very prone to blackheads/acne/congestion and these oils have saved my life!) though feel free to use whatever works for you! I love this mask for skin preping! It’s so hydrating and create the perfect base for flawless makeup application. -Bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar & water: this is the perfect mask to combat acne and blackheads. Many like to use straight vinegar but I advise against it as it’s too harsh on your skin. I like to dilute it with water at a 1:3 ratio and combine it with the clay until it forms a thick but pliable paste. -Greek yogurt, milk & turmeric: this is my holy grail lightening treatment. Want to lighten dark spots? Even out your skin tone? Remove a tan? This is your saver! Just mix the yogurt with as much milk as you can so it’s still thick and not too runny, add some turmeric (I like to wait for the mixture to turn a bit more yellow) and apply liberally. BE AWARE IT STAINS! Do it at night time and use a toner afterwards to remove any yellow residue. -Honey, cinnamon & nutmeg: this is another great mask for acne. Just mix the honey with the spices (go easy on the cinnamon, it can irritate the skin) wet your skin and apply. I’ll be back soon with more posts and updates, follow @diamondbabes to keep updated! Sending good vibes to whoever is reading this!! 😊❤️

my affordable, cruelty-free skincare routine for sensitive, acne-prone skin

I have terrible skin. Maybe it’s the Celiac Disease, maybe it’s the PCOS, maybe I’m just unlucky… whatever the case, on bad days I look a lot like Deadpool without his mask. To top it off, my skin is extremely sensitive, especially on my face, and I’m allergic to benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in most acne treatments. (Luckily, I’ve gotten pretty good at covering my acne with makeup.) I’ve tried just about everything you can try for acne, from Neutrogena to Proactiv to a prescription cleanser my doctor gave me, and most of it just made my skin worse. Then, when I was just about ready to sell my soul or start bathing in virgin blood, I found these products. All of them are all-natural or mostly-natural, none of them are tested on animals, they’re all fairly cheap and available at most drugstores, and all of them WORK. My skin looks and feels amazing – for the first time in years, I don’t have any big spots or breakouts.

First of all (and this is probably not what some of you want to hear, but it really is true), what you put into your body effects your health and appearance, especially your skin. Someone who eats a lot of greasy, artificially flavored, or highly processed food will almost always have worse skin than someone who eats a healthy, balanced diet. That’s just a fact of life. And there are always going to be a few people who just have ridiculously good genes, and can consume a family sized bag of Doritos and a two-liter of Dr. Pepper every day and still have perfect skin, as unfair as that might seem to the rest of us.

My skin has gotten significantly better since I was diagnosed with PCOS (that’s Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and insulin resistance (which is often caused by PCOS and can lead to full-blown diabetes if not treated) last November. My doctor put me on a couple of medications to regulate my insulin and my hormones, and also suggested that I switch to a low-carb diet – both of those things have improved my skin a lot. If you have chronic or severe acne. especially if acne does not run in your family, talk to your doctor. Sometimes, skin conditions like acne can indicate a bigger, underlying health issue. If that’s the case (as it is with me), treating the underlying issue will often improve your skin.

Anyway, now that the PSA is out of the way, here are some things you can do to improve your skin from the inside out:

  • Take zinc supplements. (Just be sure to take them with food – taking zinc on an empty stomach can make you very nauseous.)
  • Take fish oil. (This one is a bit more expensive, but one bottle will last you almost a year, since you only have to take one a day.)
  • Drink green tea every day. I’ve talked about the benefits of different teas on this blog before, but green tea in particular has been proven to improve your skin over time if you drink at least one cup a day. My current favorites are Tazo’s Zen and Green Ginger blends, but Yogi’s Skin Detox blend is delicious and contains other herbs that are good for your skin.
  • Avoid artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives in your food.
  • Switch to a low-carb, or even paleo, diet. (This one is a pretty extreme solution, but if you decide to try it, just know that it’s actually normal for you to feel sore, tired, grumpy, and sick during the first two weeks eating low-carb. This is so common that it has a nickname – they call it “the carb flu.” Don’t let those first couple of weeks discourage you – you will feel much better once they’re over.)

And if all of that sounds like way too much effort, don’t worry, because what you put on your skin makes a big difference, too. Here are the products that I use in my day-to-day skincare routine, in the order that I use them:

  1. Yes To Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap - (Please note that, normally, using a bar soap on your face is a very, very bad idea. But this one is specially made to be gentle enough for it, even if you have extremely sensitive skin like mine.) I just rub it on my face, lather it up, (gently!) scrub a bit, and then rinse it off. It’s very convenient and easy.
  2. Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner, Original - (As you may have already learned the hard way, toners with alcohol in them can be damaging, so even if you don’t use this one, look for one that’s alcohol-free.) I pour it onto a cotton ball or cotton pad (or, in cases of emergency, a folded up paper towel) and swab my face with it. Again, pretty easy.
  3. Yes To Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer - (Part of the reason I love this product is because it smells really good – but it also works really well. My skin looked visibly clearer and less red after one use!) This is EVEN EASIER than the previous two steps. I just apply it immediately after toner, and use my fingertips to massage it into my face.

Those are the three products that I use twice a day, every day, but if you want to really go all-out, here are a couple of others you can try:

  • Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Mask - (It looks like mud. It kinda feels like mud. But it also makes my skin feel smooth, soft, and buttery, and does a really good job of clearing up acne and redness.) You just smear it on your face, leave it on until it dries (I usually do 20-30 minutes), and then rinse it off. I like to use it immediately after washing my face with the bar soap, then after I wash it off I skip toner and go straight to moisturizer.
  • Lush Dark Angels Scrub/Cleanser - (Are you picking up on a theme yet? Turns out, charcoal is amazing for clearing up acne. I debated even putting this one on the list, because unlike all these other products, it is definitely not cheap, and you won’t find it at your local drugstore. Honestly, it does almost the exact same thing as the Freeman mask – which is $17 cheaper – but this one has a bit more of an exfoliation factor to it, and smells really nice.) I’m currently out of it (because it’s expensive and I’m a bit low on funds at the moment), but when I used it before I would pinch off a small amount, mix it with water to make a paste, and use it on my face instead of my normal cleanser. Then I’d skip toner and go ahead and moisturize.
  • Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - These are really handy if you have a lot of blackheads. You just wet your nose, smooth the strip down on it, wait for it to feel dry and stiff, and then rip it off. It is NOT painless, but it’s not as bad as waxing your legs or ripping off a band-aid. And it removes all of the gunk clogging your pores. My favorite part is looking at all of the nasty stuff left on the strip after you rip it off. It’s disgusting, but kinda fascinating. Glad all of that isn’t in my pores anymore.

Those are all of the products I like to use on my face. All of them are cruelty-free, none of them give me an allergic reaction, and all of them help my skin a lot.

Here are some extra tips for keeping your skin as soft, clear, and glowing as possible:

  • If you wear makeup, you might wanna invest in a primer to create a protective barrier between your foundation and your skin. I’m currently using e.l.f.’s Poreless Face Primer (which, btw is sold at Walmart for half of the price Amazon is asking).
  • Also, you should never, ever sleep with makeup on, or leave your makeup on overnight. It will damage your skin and make you break out, no matter how prone to acne your skin normally is. Even if you’re too tired to do your full skincare routine, at least swab your face down with a makeup remover wipe before you go to bed.
  • Look for makeup products that are labelled “non-comedogenic” and “hypoallergenic.” Usually, these products are the safest bet for people with sensitive skin.
  • Exercise has been linked to clearer skin. Even little things like walking your dog or ten minutes of yoga can make a difference.
  • Lack of sleep can and often does cause breakouts. I literally cannot stress how important getting enough sleep is, not just to your skin, but to your overall physical and mental health.
  • Don’t wash your face more than twice a day. Washing too often can cause your face to produce excess oil, which clogs your pores, which causes breakouts.
  • Do not exfoliate more than three times a week, and never exfoliate two days in a row.
  • Using pore strips too often can be really bad for you. After using one on your face, wait at least 2-3 days before you use another.

And finally, remember that other people do not look at your skin as closely as you do. Most of the time, other people don’t think your acne is as bad as you do. Your friends don’t care if you have a huge pimple on your chin, or if your nose is covered in blackheads. And even if you follow all of the advice in this post, never miss a dose of vitamins, wash your face twice a day, every day, and use masks and special treatments several times a week, you might still have occasional small breakouts or redness. And that’s okay, because no one’s skin is always perfect. Having acne or bad skin doesn’t make you ugly, and investing time, effort, and money in treating your skin doesn’t make you vain. Do what makes you feel happy, comfortable, and confident.
