Same place as before. Two days, a total of eight hours of walking on the sand and the rocks (including five hours barefoot and let me tell you, my legs are still cursing me in at least three different dead languages) and an astounding 4,5 kilos of fossils.
The stratas represented where I was hunting were mostly of the Oxfordian stage (Jurassic). I wish I could identify everything here, but I’m just an amateur, so it’s a bit frustrating (my guesses are under the pictures). Still, I’m very proud.
one of my favorite things about reading long-ass fantasy series with multiple plot-threads and many characters is watching things come together over time, and the way those threads gradually conserve and fit together and the moment of “…oh! that’s what you’re doing!” that comes with getting another piece of the puzzle
anyway I’m a little over halfway through the bonehunters and I feel like I’m starting to get a handle on this series
A great example of mansplaining is the most recent episode of the bold type where Jane makes a simple observation in the panel and that guy feels the need to over explain it and ends with the same conclusion as her
I relate to Keith a lot in terms of our introverted nature (as I hc him as). He's often quiet and not the first to start talking, especially about little things (sometimes it's more a slip of the tongue, like an after thought). He'll engage with others when prompted but otherwise is fine with silence. Will get passionate over something important to him and enjoys deep conversations. He actually does like physical affection but isn't one to initiate or ask for it.
You brought it on point, anon :P Keith is definitely an introvert. He seems to like spending time on his own or in silence - you can see it very well in how he acts around Shiro, the person he’s the most comfortable with. There are no loud jokes or arguments and he’s totally at peace with everything.
Keith also rarely initiates physical affection. He doesn’t reject hugs - he actually seems to like them if his smile after his hug with Shiro/his smile after his hug with Hunk (& Lance) is anything to go by. And he is not afraid to touch people either to help them get up or reassure them of something… but physical affection? Nope, he doesn’t ask for it, despite liking it :’)
so I’m kind of a sucker for Redemption Equals Death because it’s sad and I’m a sucker for sad. but I also…idk, sometimes I wish it weren’t such an overwhelming trend, not only because All My Faves Wind Up Dead but also because…I want to see more villains actually going through the hard, messy work of redemption, that it can’t just be done and over with, that it’s not as simple as One Good Heroic Act and everything is better.
I want the awkward and painful and difficult aftermath.
like, what I really want is the villain seeking redemption who is genre savvy enough to go for a redemptive death, figuring that’s their best way out - and who survives, and has to live up to what they meant to be their last act.
rather than death as the end of a redemptive arc, near-death as the beginning of one.
Shout out to all of you having a tough time right now
Whether you’re struggling to make content
Feeling lost or alone
Having an identity crisis
Not feeling like yourself
Dealing with the loss of someone you love
Or going through personal issues that feel like they just won’t end
I love you and you’re doing great. Just remember, a journey is not a straight road. It is littered with mountains and rocky edges and cliffs that sometimes feel too high to climb. But you’re going to get past them, and continue on. You’re doing great. You’re valid. I love you.
