(rainbow makeup didn’t work out so I painted my cheek instead)

Imagine that Derek knows how much Stiles has struggled with his ADHD even with the adderall. With how hectic their lives get he often forgets it, or like when the Sheriff gets hospitalized in season 5, just doesn’t bother to get it filled because he can deal without it and doesn’t want to cost them anymore money and even on it there’s only so much it can help with. And Derek has heard how awful middle school was for him, that span of time just after his mother died and before he was diagnosed, when he couldn’t focus on anything and the Sheriff was obviously depressed and drinking which just made Stiles even worse until it was a miserable feed back loop between the two of them that not even Mrs. McCall could drag them out of.

And, anyway, eventually Derek starts doing some research to try and find a way to help Stiles out even a little since he’s double majoring in college and working on top of that just to help with expenses. He eventually comes up with the fidget spinner, or something extremely similar to it, and he just leaves it out near Stiles’ homework for him to find. When he comes back it’s in one hand and Stiles doesn’t put it down for hours while also remaining more productive than he usually is.

Sure, Stiles is old enough by that point that he has his own techniques to cope with the ADHD, but it’s still nice and once he figures it out he quickly gets Derek to sell it because he knows if it helps calm him down it’ll help others.
