Study is a burgeoning New York-based line founded by Tara St. James. Similar to larger retail companies like Everlane, Tara is extremely passionate about transparency. She emphasizes sustainability throughout all aspects of her line’s production; her simple and stylish pieces are rooted in no-waste pattern-making and an open sourcing of materials. Study’s creations are not limited to clothing, she also has a killer collection of woven accessories. We’ll take one in each size, please!

A busy day of selling, making and shipping leads to a night of entertainment at one of my favorite bars. Thanks to all my friends who loaned me their phones to post today’s pics @cutmistake @auralis @kordalknitwear and very happy birthday to @amandapastenkos Time to say goodnight, from Brooklyn with love, @studyny - posted in NYCbaton’s instagram account.

I would like to introduce you all to #jordanandtaratictactoe. My brother @ramboutan is traveling around the world for this entire year with his husband, they will be in NY in less than two weeks! He started a game of tic-tac-toe with me several months ago as a way to personalize Instagram, which I love! The rules vary from game to game, but we have to use pre-existing grids or squares. Your move, kiddo! By @studyny - posted in NYCbaton’s instagram account.

Wanted to give you all a little background on the @givegoodmarket, besides being a holiday market there are films and panel discussions all day on women entrepreneurship. The sustainable design community in New York is incredibly supportive and I’m proud to be a part of it. - posted in NYCbaton’s instagram account.

Quiet early morning in the studio. Sorry for the delay with this first pic everyone! Turns out I can’t use IG on my old iPhone so I’m depending on friends to let me borrow theirs. This way you’ll get to meet a few new instagrammers in the process. This photo was taken in my studio in Williamsburg before all the seamstresses came in for the day, and I’m posting it thanks to @cutmistake by @studyny - posted in NYCbaton’s instagram account.

Hi everyone! My name is Tara and I am @studyny. I just returned home to Williamsburg #Brooklyn after an amazing trip to Tulum, Mexico where I swam with turtles in Akumal (and brought this little guy home as a souvenir to add to my collection). You’ll have to excuse my delay and lack of fancy pics today, my precious phone was stolen on my first day of the trip so I’m using my old phone, the original iPhone, and friends’ phones to post today. C'est la vie! I’m so excited to hold the baton for the day and can’t wait to share my adventures with you. But for now, goodnight. - posted in NYCbaton’s instagram account.
