another Noodle + Fem reader maybe?? 👀 Love my lovely gay child
(can’t go wrong with a coffee shop au amirite ladies?)
The coffee shop hidden behind the university was bustling at this time of year. It was probably due to the fact that students were looking for a place to study that wasn’t in the freezing cold dorms or the outdated library. It was a small gem packed away from the campus. The warm orange light from the window sucked you in like a moth to a flame. The classes you had been to that day had inundated you with countless essays to write and chapters to read. At this point you were convinced your professors got off on giving you way too much homework. Since your roommate had decided to invite their loudest friends over this was seemingly the best place to study. This place had been your safe haven recently. Nobody bothered you, you could put in your headphones and get your shit done. Some refuge away from the prying eyes of other students. It also didn’t hurt that you had a small crush on one of the baristas.
That evening you had came in later than you had liked. There was still quite a few people there but no where near the amount there normally were. It wasn’t really a bad thing though, it meant you could pick a quiet spot at the back to work. You took your laptop out of your backpack and opened it up to her the familiar chime. Opening up a new document you peered up behind your computer to the front desk. It was just your luck that the server you fancied was wiping down the counter. Coffee shop romances were cliche and you knew that but you couldn’t help but tumble over your words every time she asked for your order. As she was cleaning she looked up at you and smiled. Smiling back you felt your chest tighten up ever so slightly and you felt like a child again. Looking away shyly you looked back on your laptop and started to get to work on the mountain of work you had to get done that night. However as much as you tried to stay focused on your work you always felt your eyes being drawn back to her. You had always hated the feeling of butterflies in your stomach and you tried to get rid of it through your work.
As the word count at the bottom of your screen started building up you noticed that the building was slowly emptying. Students were going home for the night, leaving with tired smiles. At first you weren’t sure if it was closing time and you scrambled to pack your things. Just as you were about to get up you noticed someone taking a seat across from you. It was the barista from earlier.
“Sorry, are you guys closing up?” A small laugh escaped her lips.
“No no, you’re good.”
She had two cups in her hand and had placed one in front of you. The latte she had given you had a small foam heart on it and your cheesy inner teenager was swooning. You didn’t think much of it, she probably did that for everyone.
“You looked like you were working pretty hard so I thought you needed a drink. Don’t worry it’s on the house.” Ok she probably didn’t do that with just anybody.
“I’m Noodle by the way,” she added whilst smoothing out her uniform. Even her name was cool, fuck.
“Oh thank you! I’m Y/N.”
“So whatcha studying?” She radiated a cool sort of confidence as she spoke.
“I’m doing Biology actually.” As you said that her face lit up.
“That’s pretty cool, I’m getting a diploma in particle physics myself. Us STEM ladies have to look out for each other.”
“We sure do,” you shot back, a small smile finding its way onto your face. Looking behind her sheepishly she pushed a napkin out by your drink.
“Listen I have to run otherwise my supervisor will slaughter me. I’ll see you around Y/N.”
“See you.” As she got up you got on with packing up the rest of your things and finishing your drink. Did she actually like you back or were you reading to much into it. Just as you were about to wipe your table down you noticed something on the napkin. A phone number. Noodle’s phone number to be more specific. You swore that you could have melted into a puddle right there and then. As you left the cafe you looked around to catch a glimpse of her. Although you didn’t find her you still left with an excited anticipation and a small hint of puppy love
