What she means:
In Legally Blonde, Elle only gets accepted because she's hot and sent a video, but she had a 4.0 and got a 179 (out of 180) on her LSATS. Sure, her major was in Fashion Merchandising but that's a business major, and the fake school she was at was supposed to be UCLA so she had a business degree from a major college, probably went to a great high school, had a 4.0, and a 179 on the LSATS and at that point she would have been automatically accepted so why did they make it sound like she was such a bad risk? She even had leadership experience as president of a major chapter of what is apparently a huge sorority, since Delta Nus are shown as everything from cheerleaders to senators. Harvard should have been desperate to take her. She should have been able to get in if she turned in a cocktail napkin with her name written on it. So why make up the bullshit excuse of "multiculturalism" to justify letting in an extremely qualified and highly driven candidate just for laughs? Elle Woods deserved to go to Harvard and she earned that place with academic excellence and not by being hot.
In the middle of 1950s Tove was very, very lonely. Her letters of that time are melancholy, as she desperately yearned for true love. By this time she was very interested in dating women (as to her, Atos Wirtanen was in a way the last man she wanted to love). But circles were small in a small town, where homosexual acts were both a disease and illegal.
It was 1955, when Tove met Tuulikki Pietilä. They knew each other vaguely by looks. They had attended Ateneum’s art school at the same time but Tuulikki was few years younger and usually students spent time with their own language group (Tove spoke Swedish, Tuulikki Finnish).
The love story which lasted until their deaths, almost half a century began at Pikkujoulu party (”Little Christmas” in Finnish, a party traditionally held in anticipation on Christmas, usually among coworkers or friends) arranged by Finnish art society. Tove asked Tuulikki to dance, but she declined - probably out of propriety. But later Tuulikki sent Tove a card picturing a striped cat and asked her to visit her atelier.
Next summer Tuulikki visited Tove at an island. Love was born. Tove wrote; “I have finally come home to that one person whom I want to be with”. The picture of a striped cat was always and still is on the wall of Tove’s atelier. The couple spent their summers together on an island and winters working in their ateliers, which were right next door from each other.
It can be said that Tuulikki saved Moominvalley. By the time they began their relationship, Tove was absolutely tired of Moomins. Tuulikki’s support restored Tove’s belief in Moomins and they became an important hobby to them both.
Moomin book Moominland Midwinter (1957) is a book about loving and falling in love with Tuulikki. And it really shows. In the book, Moomintroll (who is an avatar of Tove Jansson) wakes up in the middle of unfamiliar and eerie winter, facing loneliness and death for the first time. In the middle of all cold and silence Moomintroll finds Too-Ticky, who’s calmly watching a snow lantern. Too-Ticky is robust and strong with blonde hair and a knife at her hip; everything Tuulikki was.
Too-Ticky becomes Moomintroll’s calm and supportive mentor. She never gives ready answers and instead gently guides Moomintroll as he grows and learns. It is Too-Ticky who says the phrase which Tove repeated often in her interviews and which was seemingly one of her most important philophies: “Everything is insecure and that makes me calm”.
After Tuulikki’s first visit Tove wrote; “I love you both enchanted and very calm at the same time, and I don’t fear anything that might await us”. After finding Tuulikki, Tove described how much calmer and safer she felt. Whole living felt easier.

so I’m going through the atomic blonde tag and I literally just saw a post saying that the movie is sexist because charlize theron looks “too thin” in the trailer, and because it’s “unrealistic” for a woman to be able to beat up men who are significantly larger than her, especially in heels???
like??? buddy. pal. my guy.
this is a female-lead film in an almost entirely male-dominated genre (seriously, when was the last time you saw an action movie where the main character was a.) female, and b.) not someone’s wife/girlfriend?), directed by an established filmmaker (david leitch, best known for his work on john wick), starring an oscar-winning actress who is also producing it herself, featuring a romantic subplot between two women, with feminist themes in the trailers and promotional material, and you’re going to boycott it… because the main character (a secret agent who is required to keep high standards of physical fitness for her job) is too fit??? or because she’s too feminine??? (I mean, I can run and jump and climb in heels, and I’m definitely not a highly-trained spy.) if you genuinely believe that conventionally attractive/traditionally feminine women being portrayed as tough and badass is “unrealistic,” then it sounds like the only one being sexist here is you.
Jake was a romantic at heart and a huge fan of old b+w movies, and he and Clarke went to the old local movie theatre every Sunday to watch them. So when Jake dies, Clarke carries on the Sunday tradition alone…til, one Sunday, she meets Lexa.
The funeral was at 1pm.
At six-thirty, with no will left for the rest of the people that crowded in her house, the only daughter left the wake without a single word. Wondered straight out off of the porch with no real thought at all, not even missed by anyone in particular.

ENVY: The colour of sin
Jealously was not an emotion Jughead was overly fond of. In
fact he thinks it’s his least favourite of all the emotions on the broad
spectrum of human feeling.
The cause of such jealously; Archie Andrews not so subtly
attempting to gain the attentions of Betty Cooper.
It was a paradox- Jughead being jealous of Archie’s
jealously and he knew it made zero sense. Yet he couldn’t help the green eyed
monster rearing its ugly head when he saw the pair exit the doors of Riverdale
High on Friday afternoon.
Well actually if he was being honest, the green eyed monster
had been rearing its ugly head for a week now. He had noticed Archie’s
preoccupation with his girlfriend grow over the weeks and while he had at first
dismissed it as missing his best friend and seeking comfort in her after
everything with his dad, Jughead now knew it was actually due to seeking her
affections. He hadn’t worked out yet whether Archie himself was actually aware
of his change in behaviour toward Betty, but it was irking Jughead none the
less. And so he had taken it upon himself to brave the civil war-esque dangers
of being at Riverdale high and pick his girlfriend up from school that
afternoon; rather than endure another tortured afternoon imaging the moves
Archie was putting on her while they walked home.
Betty was sporting her usual pony tail and radiant smile,
looking gorgeous as ever, so yeah he got why Archie felt inclined to be
attracted toward her. What he couldn’t comprehend was his “best friend’s” need
to tug on her pony tail and let his hand linger in the golden locks longer than
necessary, before slinging his arm across her shoulders.
Jughead’s eyes narrowed despite Betty casually lifting
Archie’s arm off of her with a laugh.
Unable to watch the scenes of ‘All American Boy Next Door
tries to win heart of Girl Next Door after realising mistake of letting her go’
any longer Jughead pushed himself off the side of the truck.
“Hey you,” he called casually across the car park in the
direction of the pair.
Betty’s eyes instantly strayed from Archie, her green orbs
landing on him and immediately alighting. The surprised smile that graced her
features temporarily dousing the flames of the burning aggravation inside him.
“Juggie!” she exclaimed through a laugh, practically
skipping toward him.
Jughead’s blue gaze softened, the iciness directed at his
friend instantly morphing into amused adoration as his girlfriend bounded into
his arms. Betty’s own arms wrapped around his shoulders while his found perch
on her slender waist.
