“I work as a valet attendant. If I scratch any of the customer’s cars I need to compensate them for the damage. However, sometimes unbelievable things happen. One time I parked a car for a famous singer, there was a scratch on the car that was clearly from a time before. However the singer claimed it occurred while I was parking the car. I’m not good at dealing with stubborn customers like that. I just have to rely on their honesty. They are the sort of people who don’t care at all even if I say something to them.”
“We was actually all over - Atlanta, Alabama, Baton Rouge. We was homeless for a time ’til we found somewhere. We came back in October ’08. My mom was already here rebuilding [this house], but she died, so it left us in a spot of responsibility. Fixing here, fixing there… just got overwhelming. I have eight kids, three in college. It’s hectic, really hectic. We used to come down here from Baton Rouge like four times a week to make it livable. […] St. Bernard Project has been here about a month and a half helping and we just finished repairing my house [today]. It’s been really awesome. It’s like strangers come in, but they leave out family. I’m proud I finally finished my mom’s house.”

He had a picture of him and Mike Tyson in a sporting goods store. I asked him to tell me the story. Basically he bet his friends that he would meet Mike Tyson, his favorite boxer. Three years later he is buying a hat and in walks Mike Tyson. He told Tyson the story and said they better get some photographic proof. They took a picture and he has kept it for 8 years.
