storage bottle

Upcycling Jars, Bottles, and Other Glass Containers.

I cook ALOT. I’m quite proud of my little collection of herbs, spices, teas, legumes, and other dried edibles. Not so much for the actual contents, but for the fact that 90% of the glass containers were upcycled. I saved my kimchi jars, pasta sauce jars, pickle jars, jam jars, booze jars - errrr, whatever I bum off the bartender, and etc. I especially love using the Canada Dry tonic water bottles for my spices; the wine corks I save fits the perfectly as a stopper! The rest of my containers are usually rescued from flea markets and thrift shops.

I encourage everyone to find a place in their homes for glass packaging. Keep them out of the dumpster.

Charging Storm Water

This spell is used to give your spells extra pizzazz and ooomph! It also combos really well with Blessed Water. I will post that spell later.

  • Large Bowl/Container
  • White Cloth
  • Silver Candle
  • Cauldron
  • Tsp. Mugwort
  • Feather
  • Dark Bottles w/lids

Timing: During rainstorm; then Full Moon.

  • Place bowl or container outside during rainstorm.
  • When you collect enough water bring inside.
  • Place a white cloth over it and put on Altar to wait for the next Full Moon.
  • During the Full Moon, remove cloth so moonlight will touch the water.
  • Light silver candle, drop Mugwort into flame, and waft smoke with feather over water. Then recite:

By Thunder and Lightning
By Mugwort and Mood!
This water is charged to work and boon.

  • Can move into Blessed Water Spell at this point or move to next step.
  • Let candle burn for one hour.
  • Pour water in clean bottle for storage in a dark area.
  • Congrats, you now have boosted water for extra OOOOMPH!

Witchy Tip - Medicine Bottles

If you’re like me and take regular medication, you probably have an endless supply of orange bottles that eventually empty of pills and purpose, to be either thrown away or stored in a drawer out of guilt and the thought they /have/ to be good for something, right?

Well they are! Use your giant heap of orange plastic tubes to hold herbs/herb mixes, potions, spell jars, moonwater, small stones, you name it. They might not be as pretty as a clear glass bottle, but if you’re in a hurry or need a storage unit with a secure lid or just aren’t feeling up to making your magic look pretty that day, they are simple and right there.

Other benefits:

- If you take multiple medications, you probably have various sizes - Easy access to orange if you’re working color magic (and if your containers are orange, like CVS in America–might be different somewhere else, I don’t know!)

- Plastic labels come off super easily

- Already imbued with your meaningful grip and magic, by holding it with the intention of taking your healing medication every day until it was empty.

- Did I mention secure lids? Well due to the above, the lids are also magically secure, making wax sealing an skippable step if you’re feeling low on energy or spoons.

- You’re recycling!

So be like me and start hoarding your medicine bottles today to cheaply, safely, and simply store whatever your witchy heart desires.

I ordered my breast pump through my insurance!!! I have a nursing bra, nursing pads, nipple cream, Boppy pillow, pump accessories that’ll go with my Medela that someone gifted me at my shower, bottles, and storage bags. I still need to get a pumping bra.

Anything else I’m missing?

I feel so accomplished and strong!💪🏼

Even More Utah Gothic

-The deer are hungry. They are no longer sated by eating the flowers laid out on gravestones. Their flat teeth have fallen out, pushed away by rows of needle-sharp teeth.

-Dirt roads that were not there yesterday sometimes appear. If you follow one, it will lead you to a farm with no crops and no farm hands. Only sheep.

-Trout like to gossip if you press their damp, gaping mouths to your ear. They will tell you about the weather. It will snow in July and be an unseasonably warm winter. They will tell you about what your neighbors think of you. They will tell you to make sure you have enough food storage. Fill empty soda bottles with water and line your basement shelves with dried potato flakes and freeze-dried bananas. You will need it very soon.

-Campers hear whispering outside their tent, smell blood as it cascades down the tent, sounding almost like rain.

-The gophers in your neighbor’s yard have moved to yours. Only, the holes are too big for gophers. Out of the corner of your eye you see something watching you, slipping below the earth when you turn around.

-On Pioneer Day you sit out on the lawn, slurping root beer floats and watching the fire works. They make no noise. You lay down and feel things caressing your legs. Things trying to wriggle into your ears and nose.

SUBMISSION: I work in a shop in Sandy Spring, MD that has a corner with crystals and candles and incense and some other useful items. There’s also sage and bottles for storage. Most of it is under $10, except tarot cards which the highest I think is 30.
