stolen art on ebay

IMPORTANT: Do NOT buy any shirt with this print on it!

I have absolutely NOT given any permission to ANYONE to sell my fanart or other art online. This work is stolen for mass production purposes and it even has my watermark still on it.

I’m not very good at English and I have trouble with understanding all the information that ebay needs for me to fill and gather to make a proper report.

I have the original file of the picture and own account at ebay.

Tips & help are much appreciated!

I’m possibly stating the obvious here, but: Make your watermarks noticeable, make them difficult to photoshop off with their placement, upload your files in low quality and small size to web.

It sucks that you can’t present your artwork in quality and in a way it’s supposed to be viewed as because there are people like this.

Ebay Art thief issue

I am unfortunately forced to make an actual call-out post upon an Ebay seller who using artworks picked form the net of various fandom, editing, removing watermark and sell them as T-shirt.

I can’t localize every single work, this person doing this for a while and their list is rather huge and I am really certain none of those images used with permission from the original authors.

They ripped off one of my DbD fanwork (no comment) and selling it for their own gain;

I also recognized one of @kawarayane‘s work same way, stolen, edited to fit on the shirt design and watermark edited out; link here

I also tracked their other DbD shirts which artwork I did see but can’t recall the original author but you maybe recognize your work, then please do a report and get these removed (along side other fandom artists work which being stolen by this person)

Every support helps to get this thief down - if they editing out even watermarks they perfectly know what they are doing and I would prefer to have his ebay account shut down or at least suspended as this is not right thing to do. Just because it is on the internet not means it is free to use or even worse sell it, something an artist spent time, effort in it. Time is money, it is not right to profit from someone else’s work.
Art thief!

Here we go again; someone selling ‘custom cards and tokens’ with other people’s art work. In this case, it seems like I’ve cut out most of the work for him by making the frame as well, and he’s removed my name. The image I uploaded wasn’t even print quality, so I can’t believe people would pay for that.

The fact that he’s selling (and has sold) any of those tokens for $4.75 apiece kills me. The originals are business cards given out for free. Various other cards in his eBay store have art stolen from other artists like Artgerm, Genzoman, Sakimichan, Warren Louw, Yu Cheng Hong, Igor Kieryluk, and many more.

I’ve reported the item myself but I just thought I should bring this to attention that it’s still happening…

*Thank you to the deviantArt user who brought this to my attention first!

On the topic of asking where an art piece comes from, I think it would be best to privately ask someone. A good one to ask in our fandom would be iluvfairytail because she’s our sourced art blog, and she’s pretty good at figuring out who drew what. Someone could also ask any one of the known artists in the respective fandom about the art and I’m sure any of them (myself included for our fandom) would be willing to help since we, as artists ourselves, have a pretty good eye for each others’ styles.

My FAVORITE solution to this, however, is what I’ve been telling many of our fandom artists for a while now-

WATERMARK. YOUR. ART. Put a big ugly watermark smack in the middle. That way people can’t just crop it out and everyone will know where to find the work. I do this with all my work now. Put it somewhere that can’t be cropped out, and don’t put it on a solid color or just in the background where it can easily be edited out.

This goes out to ALL of our fandom artists-

I will literally make each and every one of you a watermark myself. Just ask me. I’ll do it, because I’m sick of seeing everyone’s art reposted and stolen- some I even see being sold on ebay on products from China.

Watermarking doesn’t JUST prevent people on tumblr from reposting, it prevents counterfieters from selling your work and profiting on it. Uploading it in smaller sizes helps with this too.

But for real. If you want a watermark and your art has a chance of being stolen/reposted, just shoot me a message. I’ll personalize a watermark for you to use as a photoshop brush. Don’t have Photoshop? I’ll make you a transparent PNG that you can slap on any SAI file.
