Stop telling me to make friends with Trump supporters. Stop telling me that this is the equivalent of surrounding myself with differing points of view.
I have friends who are black, Muslim, transgender, gay, first or second generation immigrants, sexual assault survivors and more.
They are my friends. I love them with all my heart. I assure you I am surrounded by differing points of view.
Stop telling me that I need to spend time with people who actively voted to make this world less welcoming, less safe and indeed hateful towards my friends.
The world right now is NOT divided by “politics.” This is a ridiculously ignorant and narrow minded view of current affairs. The world right now is divided between those who give a shit about people who are not just like them, and those who do not.
I do not have time in my days for the latter.
Trump supporters have actively hurt my friends. Trump supporters are actively causing them suffering. I do not disagree with Trump supporters on “policy” or “partisan” issues. I disagree with Trump supporters on whether my friends are worthy human beings. I disagree with Trump supporters on whether my friends should be second class citizens. I disagree with Trump supporters about whether this world and this country belong equally to my friends as it does to them.
Stop telling me to make friends with Trump supporters.
The order, which won’t take effect until March 16, also calls for a 90-day ban on any new visas from six majority-Muslim countries: Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Iraq is no longer included.
The revised order comes after federal courts handed the Trump administration several defeats.
Despite the order’s new language, however, Muslims and non-Muslims alike are speaking out.
This order is still a Muslim ban and people are taking to Twitter to warn others about the consequences. Read more (3/6/17 1:44 PM)
Top Ten Drunk Yuuri Moments!! °♡° Those must be AMAZING!
10) Once he and Viktor got drunk together which is always a
horrific idea and somehow they got away from the main party and over to the ice
rink where they proceeded to try and skate absolutely wasted. The night
included a lot of phrases like “Viktor why is the ice spinning?”, a lot of
slipping and falling over because alcohol and attempting jumps doesn’t mix well
and making out on the rink. Eventually they were rescued by Chris and Phichit
who stopped them from actually killing themselves being idiotic drunks
9) The third time Yuuri got drunk at university when Phichit
had to take him home because Yuuri could hardly stand and he spent the entire
journey crying about how amazing Phichit was and how much he loved him and how
he was the best friend ever and Phichit was stuck between laughing and being
8) The second time Yuuri got drunk at college and ended up
letting people do body shots off him which made him the most popular person at
the party. Phichit still has pictures but he’s banned from ever showing anyone
on pain of death
7) That one time everyone assumed that Viktor could drink
like a fish and Yuuri couldn’t because Viktor is Russian and Yuuri proceeded to
drink Viktor under the table to prove them wrong.
6) Viktor and Yuuri’s stag nights where they were supposed
to be staying apart the whole night but Yuuri got sad drunk because he missed
Viktor and Phichit had to take him to the club where Viktor was after getting a
text from Chris saying Viktor was exactly the same. They ended up spending the
night dancing together
5) Also at their bachelor parties(s) when Chris hired a
stripper pole in the private room of the club they had rented because of course he
did and convinced drunk Yuuri to show Viktor the pole dancing version of the
Eros routine. Viktor has still not recovered from this.
4) The first time Yuuri ever got drunk in college when he
went all out due to nerves and got absolutely wasted and ended up unintentionally
making a significant portion of the room question their sexualities and giving a
random guy on his course a lap dance. That guy still recalls his fondest
college memory as the time an Olympic gold medallist gave him a lap dance and
it was awesome.
3) Speaking of lap dances, the moment from my other list of
‘Top Ten Most Memorable Places Viktor and Yuuri have had sex’ where Yuuri
wasn’t drunk but he had enough alcohol in him to be very confident and gave
Viktor a lap dance in the club which very quickly led onto…other things
2) At one point while they were engaged but not married yet
Yuuri got very, very drunk and sort of just stumbled up to Viktor like ‘why are
we not married yet? Can we just get married now?’ and Viktor was so close to agreeing to it. The only
reason he didn’t do it was because their assorted family and friends would kill
them in the morning if they put up with all their bullshit for so many years
and then didn’t even get to come to the wedding as a reward.
1) The Olympics party from chapter 8 because it was pretty
spectacular and Chris still likes to tell the story whenever he wants to
embarrass Yuuri or make Viktor blush
The funniest thing about RuneScape is during it’s early days, if a player misbehaved, they wouldn’t be banned as there still was no banning system at the time. Instead, the player would be sent to an area called “The Black Hole”, which was just the voids of nothing outside of the world map. In “The Black Hole”, players could not move or interact with anything. All they could do is just stand in the void and contemplate what they did wrong.
There’s not much good to say about North Carolina’s faux-repeal of HB2, which really doesn’t do anything to protect the state’s LGBTQ citizens. While the governor and the NCAA may be fooled, other people are not.
A number of cities and states are still banning government-funded travel to North Carolina over its treatment of LGBTQ people. (That means it will not send government employees to the state unless absolutely necessary.)
Those places include the states of California, Washington and Minnesota; Chicago; New York City; Seattle; Atlanta; Los Angeles; Salt Lake City; Cincinnati; Washington, D.C.; Portland, Oregon; Portland, Maine; Baltimore; Burlington, Vermont; San Francisco; Oakland, California; West Palm Beach, Florida; Wilton Manors; Florida; and Palm Springs, California.
“California’s law was enacted to ensure that, with limited exceptions, our taxpayer resources are not spent in states that authorize discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression,” the state’s attorney general, Xavier Becerra (D), said Wednesday in a statement. “North Carolina’s new law does not cure the infirmity of this type of discrimination.”
“We must continue to stand up for the rights of all people,” Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said Thursday. “North Carolina is continuing discriminatory policies and this is not something the state of Washington condones or supports.”
State lawmakers approved legislation last month that repeals the so-called “bathroom bill,” but the new law bars cities from passing ordinances that expand nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people. It also bans municipalities and the University of North Carolina from regulating bathroom access without the legislature’s permission.
I overheard this woman complaining to her friend about how she can’t take birth control hormones because it makes her feel sick so she has the IUD (or whatever it’s called) which she said is the most effective but she’s still scared that Trump will ban abortion and I was just sitting there thinking “well, it sounds to me like if you’re going to use abortion as a backup form of birth control maybe you shouldn’t be having sex in the first place.”
