still need to work on backgrounds

Cuphead’s side Concept

Still working on cuphead’s side of the story. Still many flaws, need to do more scripting and lastly still is kind of farfetch to make The Devil live in somewhere “hell” like let alone I don`t think theres a volcano to replicate the game’s background to have volcano around Chicago (please pm me if i`m wrong) so instead somewhere I decided to design his place like a clock tower mansion concept as in tick tock time is ticking for these cupheads.

It’s finally finished! I’ve been working on this for a week and I’ve loved every second of it.
I needed a good excuse to really get the hang of Clip Studio Paint and I wanted to make a big background-heavy piece again. This setting worked perfectly for that.

I recently saw this video by @hewhois and I got instantly inspired. It made me want to draw a modern male witch in his private den. I loved the peace and comfort that the video emitted and I did my very best to create a similar feeling. It’s so difficult to capture a very specific mood, but I hope I succeeded!

I shouldn’t be doing this :3c but meh, also have two versions too ‘cuz idk if I should adapt the colors for Laz, Pidge is Peri already, so no prob at all, except that now I’m picturing Peri saying “my name is Lapis, I’m SO emo” with a trash pile-made Lapis

I love your art, and one thing I keep noticing you praising is values. Do you have tips or references on how to improve or how to use values for drawings? Thank you!

The most important thing in my opinion is not only values but edges- you can have a wide range of values and use them all appropriately, but if your edge control (mini tutorial here) isn’t so great then your viewer won’t necessarily find your work to be aesthetically pleasing.

The basic idea of edge control is that you use hard edges to draw the viewer’s eye, and soft edges to direct them away from a certain area–having soft edges will make your hard edges more emphasized, which is why it’s useful to have a combination of the two.  To make soft edges, blend two values together as much as is needed.  To make hard edges, zoom in a bit (or get closer to your paper) and sort of ‘cut’ a boundary between two values.

If you’re doing your studies and still figuring out how to incorporate values into your pieces, I’d suggest a few things:

• One, physically back away from your picture every once in a while to see if it still reads.  For instance, if you find your subject blending into the background where you actually want them to stand out, consider sharpening the edges.

• Two, use a simpler brush (default/without a lot of texture) if you’re working digitally.  A lot of artists like to use brushes that mimic traditional media (dry brushes, pencil brushes, painterly stuff like that), but it can be oddly difficult to control values and edges with these brushes.  I think the reason is that a beginner artist focuses more on how pleasing the brushes look than on how solid the actual painting is.

• Three, if you’re working in color, find a way to view your pic in black and white every once in a while.  It’s really easy to get caught up in color combinations and to forget about the underlying values.

HEY EVERYONE!!! Yes, I am alive, I’ve just been busy with applying to schools and working on stuff for friends, which I still need to finish -___- but I really wanted to draw this, so everything had to stop. Just wanted to practice more on my Mashima art style because I love it so much, plus I think Eileen and Erza deserve to have a happy conversation, so here they go! And of course Jellal in the background thinking there’s two Erzas LOL They look so alike! Anyway, hopefully I can make more post soon!

One Bon Bon and one Lyra for your background horse sticker needs. Since everyone and their mother ships these two I thought I’d make them interact a little bit, but they still work great standalone.

Last new sticker for trotcon/bronycon should be Derpy, and then I get to spend hours at a time hand cutting these things haha.. hah…

I can see kirishima and bakugo working well together in their future careers!

i got into bnha recently (because of a certain @artofmimi). before i actually dove into it, i was really interested in kirishima lmao! my little sister kept telling me about all his idiosyncrasies and background, i was quickly endeared (kind personality, shark teeth, the red Axel/Zack Fair hair)

Supergirl Season 3

Kara: There’s something I need to tell you, Lena.

Lena: You can tell me anything, Kara.

Kara: I…I’m Supergirl. *opens shirt to reveal the Supergirl suit*

Lena: *gay gasp*

Lillian, in the background: I love gay angst.

Hi!!! I've been a fan of the great comet (and you) for a while now. And i was wondering if you could draw a Dolokhov/Nick Choksi?

you have really good timing, because i’ve never drawn dolokhov before today and had just finished drawing him when i saw this ask!, but i don’t know what to draw for the background - suggestions are welcome!

2 years since my favorite show officially ended, I’m still sad.
But I can keep drawing them for as long as I want, so here’s what I’m working on now.

Eventually I’ll put in a background, but I just needed to put something out for this momentous day

The days that followed Ivar’s cruel rejection were some of the bitterest you’d ever known. You weren’t sure just what to expect from all those hours at the prince’s side but outright exclusion wasn’t something that had even crossed your mind. Everything seemed to be going so well. You and Ivar constantly lost track of time as you engaged in passionate conversations, talking about everything and nothing and whatever was left in-between. You knew Ivar well know, perhaps well enough to call him a friend and you had secretly hoped that he shared these feelings.

You had even started to wonder if Ivar was more than just a friend. Even before that final blissful evening, the chemistry between you both was undeniable. In all of your years of working with patients in all sorts of intimate situations, not one had responded to your touch like Ivar had. Not even the most flirtatious warrior would gasp and whimper in a way that only a lover would yet Ivar practically melted in your hands.

Then, there were the looks. He may have been a man of few words when it came to discussing anything emotional but disappointment was always noticeable in Ivar’s bright eyes whenever you bid him goodnight. Then every morning, that disappointment vanished again when you arrived and exchanged private, flirty stares that were completely missed by Ubbe.

There was no way of really telling where the shy smiles and tantalizing glances were heading but you were certain that they were heading somewhere. That was why Ivar’s rejection hurt even more. You tried to be rational by reminding yourself that you weren’t Ivar’s lover and he had no obligation to explain anything to you but rationality didn’t keep you warm on those cold, lonely nights.

Actually been feeling a bit shippy for once, so I decided to do a Gwenvid pic after a few members from the Discord server asked for the ship(okay the sharing scarf theme was @slothyslothslotherson‘s idea but several people did ask for Gwenvid). Took like, a couple hours I guess. The background was annoying but turned out okay. Not 100% sure what David’s doing but it looks like he just spotted something cute/pretty and is about to point it out to her. (Also I realized that scarf is begging for Max to jump up and grab it so Gwen and David smack their heads together, might have to do a follow-up pic of that.)

Been feeling burned out on Failed Possession unfortunately but I am still working on the next ask reply. Just really needed a break I think.

I still need to finish up the backgrounds and add some lighting, and do some general cleanup, but this is what I’ve been working on for the past couple of days. The complete version will be up on my youtube soon.

I’m honestly shocked that with all the spoofs of dancing pennywise floating (ha!) around out there that nobody has made this connection yet.

MY noobie review of Stephen King’s IT (2017)

First thing’s first. The cgi wasn’t terrible. In fact, it was brilliant. Though, there was this one scene where Pennywise is dancing in front of Beverly and it’s the silliest, creepiest looking shit ever. But yeah, the cgi for that scene was a little off in my opinion.

They kept a lot of aspects from the book in. Which I thank the script writers for. Here are a few of my pro’s and con’s if anyone cares.

Pros: -The loser club. They were brilliant. And child actors get a bad rep, but these guys killed it. They were all great in their roles and they felt just like they did when I read the book.

-The family lives of the losers’ that we got to see. It was really nice to see Beverly’s relationship with her father come to fruition on screen once again. Along with Eddie’s mother.

-Richie Tozier and Eddie Kaspbrak’s humor. They definitely lightened this movie up. Which was very nice. Also, small nod to Bev and Ben’s “New kids on the block” thing going on, that was hilarious.

-Pennywise. Holy shit. Bill was great as Pennywise. His facial expressions. Voice and just over all demeanor about him. He was terrifying. I could definitely see him as the Joker if he went for the role.

-Georgie’s death. It was done so well. Sure they changed it up a little. But I felt so bad for him after his arm was torn off and he was just crawling away as best as he could.

-Henry Bowers. Henry Bowers was a psychopath, but a great psycho path.

-The humor. The humor was pretty good. Obviously, Richie being the start of most of it. Pretty funny.

-Scares. For the only jumpscares that were in the movie, they were actually built up quite nicely. Not overdone at all.

-The cgi. I already mentioned it. But the cgi was great. Usually I don’t really like CGI, but when the monster of a horror movie is a shape-shifting entity, you need cgi.

Cons: -The rest of the Bowers gang. They had little to do. And honestly felt like cliche bullies. Also, near the end. We don’t find out what happened to Belch and Victor. Sure, I'v read that a scene was cut. This scene showed Belch and Victor with their throats slashed(courtesy of Henry Bowers). But still. For those that don’t know that. They’d be leaving the movie confused.

-The Loser Club’s stories. I get that the producers had a certain amount of time to work with. But still. A few of the background stories of the kids, felt either rushed or leaped over.

-Mike Hanlon as a character. One of the biggest problems I had with the movie, was the way they treated the character Mike. To me. He was just, there. You know? Mike is supposed to be the brains of the losers’ club. But in the movie, he was just that guy with the sheep gun.

I honestly can’t think of anymore cons, the movie was just really good.

Is IT scary? Totally. If you’re a fan of horror, I highly recommend it.

Favorite lines(I’ll try to be as accurate as possible):

-“It’s easier for me to go inside this house, than to go into my own everyday”

-”Nothing makes a paper man crumble like fear”

-”And most of all, I’m angry at you because now I have to kill this fucking clown!”
