Can Conscious K-Pop Cross Over? BTS & BigHit Entertainment CEO ‘Hitman’ Bang on Taking America

On April 2, BTS played the fifth and final date of a sold-out U.S. arena run, performing to the shrieking fans who helped the group’s second full-length album, Wings, become the first K-pop project to crack the top 40 of the Billboard 200 in 2016. Since debuting in 2013, the seven-piece boy band has become a commercial behemoth in its native South Korea while continuing to make inroads within American pop culture. “Change,” an English-language hip-hop collaboration between BTS member Rap Monster and U.S. star Wale, was released three days before the kickoff of the stateside run.

“Change” touches on topics like voting rights and online harassment, while some of BTS’ biggest hits have addressed mental health. “Worldwide, our young generation shares the same issues socially and politically,” says BTS member Suga. Although K-pop music generally steers away from controversy, Rap Monster says that remaining outspoken “is important to us. And the bigger the voice we get, the more powerful our words become.”

A new BTS album is already underway and more U.S. dates might be on the way later this year. Bang Si Hyuk, the CEO and Executive Producer of label/management agency BigHit Entertainment who is better known as “Hitman” Bang, hints at “special features” designed for international listeners but thinks BTS will continue playing to its base.

“I’m not a believer in releasing full English songs to the U.S. market, like many K-pop artists have,” Bang tells Billboard in his first-ever interview with American press. “We must focus on what we do best as K-pop artists and producers and maybe add some special features to which international or U.S. music fans can feel attached. That is the best way for me to put K-pop into the mainstream U.S. music market and, in that regard, BTS will participate and perform in a way that is not much different from what they have been doing in the last three years. We’re adjusting and improving the way we do shows on the tour to meet the international or global level and expectations so that anyone, regardless of their culture and background, can enjoy BTS music and performances.”

Bang is sure to add that the group will be “very active and responsive in releasing new songs that would come out of collaborations with international artists, like 'Change.’” And, looking ahead, both the CEO and band see their most recent accomplishments as inspiration to achieve even more in the future.

“I’m so excited and thrilled at the response to the U.S. tour,” Bang says. “It’s still overwhelming and unbelievable at some point. I even further feel responsible for producing better music and production for fans around the world and I’d definitely think harder on what makes fans enthusiastic and passionate about BTS music and the band.” Meanwhile, the ambition within the group is perhaps best felt when member V winks that the group has “grander goals”; as if arena shows are just the beginning of what he and his band mates plan to accomplish around the world.

Below read on for an extended interview with BTS held before the tour kicked off. All member answers are taken via a translator except for Rap Monster.

With five arena shows, this tour is so huge and I think the main reason for that and why you guys are doing so well in America is because you sing about personal topics. Why is that so important to talk about in your music?

Suga: Worldwide, our young generation shares the same issues socially and politically. I think that young people feel the same way about similar issues and BTS wants to cheer them up with our songs and talk about our feelings and social issues.

Rap Monster: These topics, like you said, they’re important, right? They should be told by someone. Someone should talk about it. And if someone should talk about it, then it feels like we have to talk about it. It’s very much an honor that we get power and attention from our fans them when we use our voices more. It’s important to us and the bigger the voice that we get, the more powerful that our words become.

These topics – loneliness, mental health, bullying – you don’t hear about in K-pop or even Korean culture much. Or, really, in American pop music either. Have you ever worried it might get a negative or opposite response?

Suga: There are people who think negatively and there have been people who react negatively towards BTS’ music. But I think it’s way more important to make music with those issues because I think it’s important to encourage people to fight for those issues and, through the music, have a resolution for those issues. But I’m going to continue to talk about those issues through the music anyway. [Laughs]

Do you think K-pop needs to get more personal to gain a wider audience? Would you like to see that more in future?

Rap Monster: We still need some party songs, we still need some light love songs. I love to listen to them and feel the vibe from that. Everyone has their luggage and their shadows, but it’s up to everyone’s own [devices]. But we’re us. I think if we talk about it and if it gets more voice and attention, then maybe there are a lot of people in the world that accept us start to talk about those issues. I think that’s the change.

I thought “Spring Day” was a really big musical moment for you guys. Not only did it do really well on the charts, but this time you were showing a progression in thinking and a message of hope. The idea of recovering and winter moving to spring. Was that a conscious decision?

Rap Monster: It’s just like what you said, that was one step further. We’re always talking about the crises, the sorrows and youth’s feelings of getting lost. In many [television] programs, when we’d introduce our new album, I’d always talk about the word “recovery.” Like you said, it’s all about the recovery. Winter going to spring. The middle of the winter going to the spring. You got that.

Suga: In addition to being what we are as BTS, we wanted to bring some changes and we actually wanted to evolve as a group. We wanted to show our many colors, but we still want to console others and give hope to others.

Something that was unique was all the solo songs on the Wings album. You’ve done mixtapes, but instead of full-fledged solo or unit releases, you got to show your different sides of yourselves. Why was that necessary?

Jin: The solo tracks were important because it was personal, an individual story and it was represented in the way that we are good at it. We worked a lot on each track and that’s why it was important to each of us.

Rap Monster: When I get questions about why is K-pop is so popular; I always tell them K-pop is like a great mix of music, videos, visuals, choreography, social media and real-life contents. Making the solo tracks on the album was quite a venture, but it’s connected to the concept. Like, when you watch the “I Need U” video, everyone has their own crises and characters. It’s kind of connected to our real personalities and characters, but the solo songs have their own characters and personalities. It’s all connected. It’s a mixture and that’s why people get interested in the concepts.

Speaking of solo songs, “Change” recently came out. Rap Monster, you and Wale are talking about different-but-similar issues when South Korea and America are both having interesting political times. Did you guys have a chance to discuss your different viewpoints?

Rap Monster: We didn’t have the time to get into it deeply, but I’m always watching the news about Trump and America; I always watch. When he first suggested a collaboration, I was like, “What should we do?” We could just do you know, a common hip-hop song, but I wanted to do a little more special. We have our political situation in Korea and the students are very angry. So, I think, if we talked about what’s going on, then we’ll have a real special collaboration. I think my guess was right and it became special.

Do you see or feel your influence among other groups in the industry?

Jungkook: When we debuted back in 2013, we were influenced by our sunbaenim [Korean word for “senior”]. Over the years, as we watched other younger groups, we know they talk about us, they cover us and they follow us. I think they’re saying in interviews that they learned a lot from us and that makes us feel great. Being a sunbaenim, we want to be a good influence and be a better role model to other groups.

Last question, are you happy?

V: For now, we are very happy as we are, as a group, together. And I think we are happy because we are walking on the same path, walking the same direction. We wanted to get Daesang [Best of the Year award], but we have it already so our goal is to make great music, to share it with our fans.

Rap Monster: And a worldwide, stadium tour. That’s the goal.

V: We have grander goals.

“Hey, let’s get a coffee after this!”, Kim suggested, picking up a bunch of flyers and dropping them down a stairwell. You watched them sail to the ground one by one, feeling their flowing movements tickle your mind. “I can’t, I have a lecture.”

“Come on!”, she groaned and waving a You only live once flyer in front of your face. “You hate that class. And the professor and the book.”

“That doesn’t mean I don’t have to go.” Silence. “No offence, but how the hell are we even friends? Like, how have we become acquainted?”, Kim asked. “Opposites attract.” “Which is why your soul mate is going to be the most outgoing party person you have ever met!”, she said, leaning against the rail. “You should meet him half way. If he’s a party person, you will meet him at a party. Which means that you have to attend a party. Ideally the Christmas Festival tomorrow night.”

“If you want me to come, you could just ask.”, you replied and put the pile of books you were carrying onto the windowsill next to you. “You wouldn’t come.” “Well, I am here, helping you carry out invitations to some kind of drug convention.” “Good point.” “I know.”

Imagine Chris turning the tables on you.

A/N: I’m not very good at pranks, I think that will be very obvious when you read this. This is a request from @castellandiangelo, I did end up writing your request. (I’m sorry if it’s bad, I’m not good at pranks!) I’ll make up for this sleep deprived piece, there’s an idea that’s been brewing for a while now. X

1st of April had finally arrived; it was the day you’d been waiting for since you came up with what you thought was the best, and most cruel prank ever. The prank was designed for your husband, Chris, and you’d joined forces with his mom and his brother to pull it off; they’d flown in from Boston just to help you. You still hadn’t decided if it was one of those ‘we-can-laugh-about-it-in-the-future’ pranks or a 'I’m-going-to-fucking-divorce-your-ass’ pranks, but seeing as Lisa and Scott were on board- you saw it as the former. You’d been with Chris for years and years now, so you knew him well. You knew he had a great sense of humor and a great love for your playful side, which made you ninety-nine percent sure he’d appreciate your prank; the sweet note at the end especially. But just to be safe and not to seem too smug, you lowered the probability percentage down to ninety-five.

The prank you’d been planning for over a month now involved Scott 'crashing’ Chris’ brand new Audi while taking you to lunch; Lisa calling from the emergency room; and Chris rushing down only to find you safe and sound with a dozen pink balloons and a sonogram. You’d found out you were pregnant a little while ago and wanted to find the right time to tell your husband, so why not April Fools? It was crazy and a little bit over the top, but then again- that was you. To be fair though, Chris had pulled some pretty horrendous pranks over the years. You could say you were only doing it as a way to get back at him for the time he visited you on your set and put a cockroach on you while you were filming a scene with Meryl Streep- an actress you so thoroughly admired- but hey, you weren’t the vindictive type.

“Do you think your son will divorce me after he finds out this is all just a prank?”

“No,” Lisa chuckled with a shake of her head. “He loves you way too much, and he’s going to be so happy about the baby news that- he’s not going to care about anything else.” You nodded in agreement after slight hesitation. “It’s April Fools and he’s a big boy, he can handle it.”

“I hope so,” you chuckled as you gathered the bundle of pink helium balloons. Lisa chuckled too as she grabbed her purse and headed towards your front door where loud knocking could be heard. “Could you get that, please? I bet it’s Scott, I hope he knows he’s not actually going to drive Chris’-”

“It’s not Scott,” Lisa cut you off as you walked around the corner; your eyes narrowed at the two police officers standing in your doorway with solemn expressions on their faces. “How can I help you gentlemen?” Lisa asked them. “Is there a particular person you’re looking for?”

“We’re here to speak with Y/N Y/L/N,” the taller male answered and you didn’t know to snicker or be genuinely concerned. For all you knew, they were part of Chris’ plan to prank you before you could him. “We have reason to believe that one of the victims involved in the accident on route six is your brother, Oliver Y/L/N.”

“That’s impossible,” you chuckled with narrowed eyes. “My brother’s out of town until the end of the month, he couldn’t possibly be in a car accident. Are you absolutely sure that he’s involved? Is there a possibility that you’re mistaken?”

“We are unable to identify the body, but his motorbike was placed at the crash site,” the shorter male informed you and your heart dropped when you remembered Chris had taken the bike- your brother had left at your place for safe keeping- this morning. “Do you know anyone with access to your brother’s bike? We could really use-”

“My husband,” you cut him off and you heard Lisa gasp. “My husband took my brother’s bike out this morning. Oh my God,” you breathed and felt the bundle of balloons escape your grip; they flew to touch the ceiling. “No no no,” you shook your head. “That’s impossible, Chris wouldn’t- he’s too careful on the- No,” another head shake. “It can’t be him, my husband is not dead!” You felt the tears spill out of your eyes.

“We’re very sorry to ask you to do so, but we’re going to need you to come with us to help identify the body.” The taller male told you and you quickly nodded, grabbing your purse by the door. You glanced over your shoulder at Lisa as you followed the police officers out; she was lost in her thoughts. “After you, Miss Y/L/N.” He held his car door open for you.

“Just give me a moment,” you told him and he nodded. “Lisa,” you walked over to her and took her shaky hands in yours. “We don’t know if it’s him,” your voice broke as you tried to reassure her. “Maybe he let someone else use Oliver’s bike after getting to the studio, or maybe the bike got stolen- I don’t- um- I don’t know,” you tried not to start crying when you remembered you were pregnant and your daughter might not have a father. “But we mustn’t lose hope yet because…” You trailed off, unable to find the right words.

“I can’t go down, Y/N,” she shook her head and you nodded understandingly. “I’m sorry,” she hugged you and you hugged her back, taking slow breaths to stop yourself from breaking down. “But you’re right, we don’t know yet.” She said as she pulled away; you nodded in response. “Call me as soon as you find out, okay?”

“Okay,” you nodded.

You left her at your house then got into the police car and let them take you to the crash site. You may not have been a religious person, but it didn’t stop you from praying. You couldn’t lose Chris, especially now that you were pregnant. You didn’t know what to do with a child, you had a child because of him- because you loved him. How were you meant to raise that child alone? How were you meant to look at your daughter and tell her her dad was the most amazing man you’d ever met and never let her meet him? How were you going to survive the rest of your life without the love of your life? Your hand rested on your stomach and you broke down crying, silently begging whatever greater being for your husband to be alive.
• • • • • • • •
The car pulled to a stop in front of a park; the same one where you and Chris worked together on screen for the first time, not that you were in the right mindset to notice. Your entire world had been rocked thanks to your husband and his insane plan to turn the tables on you, except his plans weren’t as easy to find out about as he’d confided in professional actors rather than family members. Of course he’d confided in Lisa and Scott- the two who accidentally let both your pregnancy and prank plans slip, but somehow managed to keep his to themselves- and they both told him it was a bad idea and that you were going to be pissed when you found out it was all just a prank. But did Chris listen? No, because clearly it wasn’t a bad enough idea if his mother and brother didn’t stop him from doing it. Plus- Chris knew you, you’d appreciate a good prank; he was ninety-five percent sure about it. If you didn’t- well, he had a spontaneous trip to Paris to make up for his insanity.

“Wait,” your eyes narrowed as the policemen got out of the car. One opened the car door for you and beckoned you out. “I don’t understand, I thought the accident was on route six.” He didn’t say anything, he just gestured for you to follow him. “I just want to know if my husband’s okay,” you told them and they both nodded.

Chris spotted you and the 'police officers’ approaching and he sat on your brother’s motorbike, laughing. It was pretty sick joke, yes, but he was so excited to celebrate the pregnancy with you that- he didn’t care. He knew when you saw him that you’d understand that it was just an April Fools joke and laugh because he’d turn the tables on you instead.

“Where are you tak-” You stopped yourself when you saw Chris, perfectly fine and in one piece. He waved at you with a cheeky smile; you were so relieved that you couldn’t think about anything else- like how it was just a stupid prank. “Thank God,” you breathed and ran towards him as he got off the bike. “Oh my God,” you threw your arms around his neck and he hugged you tightly, burying his face in the crook of your neck. “I thought you were dead,” you started crying out of absolute relief.

“Yeah, I’m not that easy to kill,” he chuckled. “April Fools, baby.” He said and you pushed him away, frowning. “What?” He laughed, grabbing his left breast. “I just elaborated on your plans a little bit. We’re in the film industry, I thought you’d appreciate the dramatics.”

“A little bit?!” You slapped his arm and he pressed his lips together, suppressing his urge to laugh. “They told me you were dead, Chris. Mine was just emergency room, yours was death! Death, Chris, death.” You emphasized and he nodded, chuckling as he pulled you into his arms for another tight hug. “What the hell is wrong with you?” You chuckled wearily as you hugged him back; you were too happy that he was okay to be mad about the severity of his actions. “No more April Fools for us,” you said, pressing your head against his chest. “We clearly don’t know how to prank each other, it’s getting a little much.”

“Okay,” he chuckled, kissing the top of your head. “I’m sorry, baby. I know it’s been a stressful day, my mom and Scott both said it was a bad idea.” You scoffed and chuckled at the same time; no wonder Lisa didn’t come down. “But hey,” he pulled the plane tickets out of his back pocket as he pulled away from you. “We can relax in Paris.”

“I was about to ask you how you were going to make up for this,” you smiled as you took the tickets from him; he chuckled in response. “Do you want to know how I’m going to make up for the prank that didn’t happen?” You quizzed, reaching into your own back pocket for the sonogram.

“I think I already know,” he smiled and placed his hand on your stomach. “They might have let the baby news slip too when they let your prank plans slip.” You chuckled and pulled the sonogram from your pocket, passing it to him. “I can’t believe we’re going to be parents to a baby girl,” he smiled at the sonogram then at you when you placed a hand over his.

“I know, right?” You laughed. “We are so immature and we’re about to be parents,” you said and he joined you in laughter. “Ground rules before the baby comes, no more pranks like these. No more dead or emergency room pranks because- it’s ridiculous and it’s irresponsible.” He nodded in agreement, chuckling. “I am so glad it was just a prank,” you told him and hugged him again. “I don’t know what I would’ve done if I’d lost you.”

“I’m not going anywhere, sweetheart,” he hugged you tightly as he whispered into your hair. “Not for a very, very long time.” You smiled and looked up at him. “I love you,” he smiled and dipped his head to meet your lips.

“And you’re lucky I still love you after that,” you bit playfully.

“Yes I am,” he laughed.

Take this burden - part 25

(Super short one)

-

They drove in silence.

Well, relative silence.

Felix threw a temper tantrum for about an hour, yowling, and hissing.

‘Is he ok?’ He Tian asked.

‘Yeah, he’s just…adjusting.’

‘Adjusting to the car?’

‘Adjusting to being out of the house, I guess.’

‘How long has it been?’

Mo Guan Shan considered that for a bit.

‘About a year, I guess. That’s when I moved back in with my parents.’

‘What about before that?’

‘He was with me in my apartment in Seattle.’

‘Did you live alone?’

‘Nope. With my ex.’

‘What happened.’

‘We broke up.’

‘Why?’

‘We just…had different ideas about the future.’

‘Like what?’

Mo Guan Shan smiled.

‘Are we playing twenty questions?’

He Tian grimaced.

‘Sorry, I’m being a little nosy, aren’t I?’

‘I’m only teasing. Ask away.’

‘Ok, what were different ideas?’

‘He was in a hurry to settle down. Buy a house, have kids, all that.’

He Tian raised his eyebrows.

‘Was he your age?’

Mo Guan Shan shook his head, opening a soda and taking a drink.

‘He was 36.’

‘Oh. That makes a little more sense.’

‘Yeah.’

‘So that’s not what you want?’

‘It is, to an extent. Just…not with him, as it turned out. Not to mention the whole kid thing.’

‘So, what happened?’

‘He proposed. I said no. Relationships rarely make it through that.’

‘Did you want it to?’

‘No. I felt like I was wasting his time, so we broke it off. It was for the best, he’s married now and bought a house a few months ago.’

‘You guys still talk?’

‘He ended up with a friend of my sister’s, so we all go out for lunch from time to time.’

‘That all sounds very…adult.’

Mo Guan Shan laughed.

‘So, what about you? I imagine you’re not really the domestic type, no plans in that department?’

‘I’ve spent the last few years focused on the club. That didn’t leave time for much else.’

‘That doesn’t answer my question.’

‘Everyone I’ve been with has had their own plans for the future. I’m just a momentary convenience. A fun distraction for a night or two. It’s easier that way.’

‘That doesn’t answer my question either.’

He Tian smiled.

‘I guess in the back of my mind I’ve always assumed I’d settle down with someone at some point…’ he trailed off.

‘But…?’ Mo Guan Shan prompted.

‘But, as time passes I only come to pity the poor soul that tries.’

‘That’s very pessimistic of you.’ Mo Guan Shan chastises.

‘Maybe so but, in the long run, who could ever want someone with so much baggage?’ He asked bitterly.

The atmosphere in the car had shifted.

Mo Guan Shan took his hand.

‘Someone with a really big closet.’

In lieu of a response, He Tian lifted his hand, kissing his fingers softly.

-

Mo Guan Shan napped.

He Tian thought about the nights he’d spent alone.

And nights he’d spent with company, feeling impossibly more alone.

He thought about watching Jian Yi and Zhengxi as their relationship grew and changed over the years.

He’d always been happy for them, but for the first time-

He was…jealous?

The part of him that did want a meaningful relationship.

That part did want affection and love and security.

The part that had given up gone to sleep in an effort to hide from his nihilistic unpleasantness, had woken up, stretched, fetched a cup of coffee, and now watched patiently as situation began to unfold.

THE CASE OF THE NOT SO SECRET VALENTINE- Johnlock fic

February 19th, 2019

Haven’t written in my blog for a while but I felt like now was a good time to start it up again. You see, the strangest thing happened to me.I received a Valentine’s card in the post six days ago. A Valentine’s card from my three year old daughter. A Valentine’s card in a red envelope. It had little love heart stickers dotted all over it and pink glitter spelling out my name.Now Rosie’s pretty smart ( for a three year old). Even Sherlock thinks she has masses of potential. He tells me that all the time. However, she still hasn’t mastered the art of formally posting a letter. She also doesn’t usually address me as John. Someone therefore had to have helped her to make and post the Valentine’s card in question. The list of suspects for me to choose from was very limited.

Mrs Hudson
Molly
Greg
Sherlock

The Pope
The Queen
Mycroft…

This is the order I questioned them in. Just joking….I never bothered asking Mycroft.

Every one of the real suspects provided good reasons/alibis as to why it wasn’t them. All except one.

Can you guess which one?

When I got round to questioning suspect number four, he ( like the rest of them) was adamant that it simply wasn’t him. He casually suggested that it must have been ‘Hudders’ and she’d just forgotten in her old age. Well, he actually blamed something else entirely but I don’t want to repeat that here! Let’s just say he blamed her pressure point and leave it at that! Anyway, after Sherlock started frantically finger pointing in everyone else’s direction, I knew for definite that it was him.So I lied to him.I lied to the worlds only consulting detective and he fell for it hook, line and sinker. I told him that I had Greg (Lestrade) run the card for fingerprints. His face! His actual face when I said that! He actually asked me if Rosie’s finger prints were in the police system! When I started laughing he didn’t join in. He was being serious.

When I think about it, I don’t know why I asked the others first. It should have been obvious who helped Rosie from the moment the postman handed me the card. Sherlock’s always doing arts and crafts with her. He secretly loves glitter. Mrs Hudson is forever moaning about the amounts of glitter being sucked up into the good Hoover. Sometimes I’ll get in after a long hard shift at the surgery and when I enter Baker Street, there they are, my daughter and the ‘mad man’, lying there on the sofa, sprawled out, their exhausted sleeping faces caked in all the sparkling colours of the rainbow.

The last time Rosie and Sherlock had the paints out, Mycroft had shown up unexpectedly. Rosie accidentally tipped a red paint pot over his fancy shoes and Sherlock gave her a biscuit as a reward. When Rosie toddled over to Mycroft with the splatter painting she had made and offered it to him ( her version of a sincere apology) Sherlock just glared at him until Mycroft reluctantly accepted it. Sherlock took his hesitation as a personal insult to my daughter’s artistic abilities. God help Rosie’s future teachers! I could only laugh as Sherlock demanded that his brother leave, whilst mumbling something under his breath about the painting being better than some of the pretentious rubbish Mycroft had on his walls at home. Funny because it’s actually true!

Anyway, you might still be wondering what happened after my finger print lie forced a confession from Sherlock.He was affronted about the whole situation obviously. Couldn’t look me in the eye. I was (admittedly) being quite wicked about the whole thing.I really enjoyed making him squirm. However, as he gradually became more uncomfortable, I almost felt bad…almost…

I asked him why he had written John on the front of the card. He looked at me with utter confusion before stating that it was in actual fact my name and what else would he possibly have put.When I reminded him that Rosie’s name for me is dad, he looked even more affronted.When I questioned him on his use of pink glitter he became incredulous.These were his actual words…direct quote……

“Really, John! Can you give your daughter no credit for this situation? It was the colour she chose when I asked her to pick one for you. She also helped me sprinkle it. If you don’t believe me then have Gavin dust the glitter tube for fingerprints.Surely, as my willing accomplice, Rosie must take her share of the blame in this!I don’t know why this has grown into such a big issue.Why this card annoys you so much. It was meant to make you smile. You have been so sad recently and I concluded it was because you missed having companionship in your life, as you stopped dating after Mary and it’s been three years.I researched this extensively before deciding on the best course of action.A card on an occasion like this, from ones child, is meant to make the recipient feel valued, appreciated and loved.It is not meant to make them launch a full scale inquiry!Does it disturb you because I made an error and wrote John?I’m sorry for the Freudian slip but perhaps I was trying to remind you that Rosie is not the only person left on this earth that deeply loves and values you.”

Amazing that he can remember what he says word for word really,otherwise I couldn’t have put this in the blog. I was too busy having a complete moment of clarity/internal crisis , to pay full attention to what he was saying.There he was, standing there pleading his case like an accused would to the jury, and all I could think about was that he had just admitted how much he loved and valued me.

It worried me that he actually thought I was viewing the whole situation negatively. He couldn’t see how absolutely moved I was that he’d taken the time to help my daughter do something like that for me. Nobody else had even thought of doing that. For all of their goodness, friendship and humanity, not one of my other friends realised that I was getting to a point were I actually needed to be reminded that I was loved. Not one person except Sherlock Holmes understood that.

Sherlock was standing there giving his big drama queen spiel and all I could think about, was if he knew exactly how much he was loved and valued. Did he know that everything he had done ( particularly in the last three years) was appreciated. The man who stayed up all night and shot holes in the wall, was now ( mostly) going to bed at reasonable hours so he could get up and give Rosie her breakfast in the morning if I had to work a nightshift. The man who had eyeballs in his fridge and forensic slides everywhere, suddenly had spaces full of stuffed toys in his living room and he had willingly put them there.The man who would spend hours on his science of deduction website was now cutting it short to watch YouTube videos about sewing, cooking and how to do braiding, buns and French plaits.I suddenly, in that moment, needed him to know how much he was appreciated for all of that. The only problem with that plan was that there was no time to find the pink glitter and Rosie was down for her afternoon nap. So I had to improvise. I had been moving steadily closer to him during his rant and was mere inches from him when insanity finally took over.

I kissed him.

My lips merged with his, my arms wrapped around his back and I clung on for dear life, fearing that this would be the one and only time I would be permitted to completely open myself up and to show this man exactly what he meant to me. To show him the depth of feeling that he could stir in me at the most unexpected of moments.

As the lustful haze from my wreck less decision cleared, and just before the guilt of my actions began to form, I fully expected to be pushed away and reprimanded for selfishly violating him and his trust.I expected to be looked at indifferently and told in no uncertain terms that he was still married to his work. I did not expect his hands to find their way to my neck, or his tongue to be the one to push itself into my mouth. I imagined the noises from him to be protests rather than the guttural and raw moans of my name filling my ears in bursts of pink glitter. I never expected his body to be completely receptive to my touch and willing to press itself so intimately and tightly against my own. I expected it to be over in 30 seconds, not reaching well over five minutes of nervous fumbling and slow caresses.

When we finally did manage to prise ourselves apart, the room was filled with stunned silence. Neither of us had saw this coming. We spent a good five mins just catching our breaths and staring at one another, trying to work out how we had ended up at this point. It was Sherlock who broke the silence first. He started laughing.He was laughing the way he had done in our very first night together. It felt surreal.It wasn’t the time for laughing, not really.We were the dearest of friends. Our lives together and what we did with them mattered to a great many people. We had just decided to gamble with those lives and things weren’t ever going to be the same again. How could they be? No matter how much we would try and convince ourselves, we had just drew a very final line under the last ten years. What happened from now on would be a new beginning. It had to be. I didn’t feel like laughing was the appropriate response to that. Confusion and being scared shitless was the appropriate response to that. However, Sherlock’s laughter filled the room around us.It was infectious.I began to laugh as well.It was ridiculous.We should have been talking.We should have been working through what just happened.Instead we were standing in the kitchen of 221B Baker Street laughing our heads off.We had nearly ripped the clothes from each other’s backs, that how passionate we had gotten only ten mins before, and now we were standing at a distance with our laughs mingling in the air between us.

We didn’t have the talk that night.

Mrs Hudson appeared to tell us that Lestrade had tried to phone several times but there was no answer. That’s when the laughing quickly stopped. The game was on. We could never discuss this whilst the game was on.

Two days later and the case was solved.We still hadn’t talked about what happened in our kitchen.I went straight to the clinic after we left the crime scene and Sherlock agreed to go home and see to Rosie.It was a further 16 hours before I entered Baker Street again.

A similar and comforting sight met me when I emerged from the entrance of the flat into the living room.There was Sherlock lying sprawled on the couch, cradling Rosie in his arms.Face full of glitter.Faint scratch on his neck from were I had clawed a bit too possessively two nights before. The scene felt normal and abnormal all at the same time.

I made my way into the kitchen and was met with a tea tray of biscuits, a vase with a single red rose and a red envelope with dad/John written on it.Intrigued, I opened it and this is what was inside…

Dear Dad,

Sherlock helped me to make the last card because he felt that it was very important that you know how much I love and appreciate you. I think that you are the most wonderful father and that you have a very fetching name.Thats why I asked him to help me sprinkle it in pink glitter on the card.
However, this card is not from me. I am just helping Sherlock write it because he’s useless with feelings. After discussing it with him, I’ve come to the conclusion that he is completely in love with you. Has been for years.He was just too scared to admit it to himself up until now.He wants to spend the rest of his life with you. He doesn’t want to waste anymore time. He knows this changes everything and he’s glad of it.Quite frankly ( if you want my opinion and Hudders opinion regarding this situation) you’ve been living with one another for years anyway, so you both might as well get some sex from this situation. What do you say?

Love Rosie x

P.s if you agree to this then come into the living room and wake Sherlock up with a kiss.

I started laughing again.I started laughing again and then I kissed him.

Why have I bothered to tell you all this? It’s not a real case after all.So why have I chosen this very intimate story about our lives together, to be the first thing I’ve blogged about for years? Well, It’s because I think it’s about time that the world knew the secret that’s been kept for a very long time. The Secret of Sherlock Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes is so much more than the legend that’s been built up around him by myself and the media.The Valentine’s story is a symbol of who he really is.The heart as well as the brain. Not a freak, not a sociopath. Sherlock Holmes is the man who commands the whole of Scotland Yard one moment and then covers himself in pink glitter the next, all because my daughter demands it. Sherlock Holmes is the man who prides himself on being the smartest person in the room, but will mortify himself at the drop of a hat, all to show me that I am loved.

That’s who he really is.

I am so grateful that is who he really is.

I love him because that is who he really is.

“What do you think?

Sherlock had been perched on the seat next to John the whole time he was reading his blogger’s newest creation. The only indication of how affected he was came from the roughness of his voice when he finally decided to reply.

“Thank you John.Thank you.Though always remember that I would be nothing without my blogger.”

Sherlock bent down and kissed John on the head before deciding to speak again.

“You know you can’t actually post it though, don’t you.”

John shut the laptop over and sat it next to them on the couch.He turned to Sherlock and worryingly pulled the younger man’s hand into his own.

“Why not?”

Sherlock began to slowly run his fingers up and down John’s wrist as he traced circles on his skin.It reminded him of all the times previously that their hands had touched.In friendship, tragedy, anger and love. He was eventually pulled out of his thoughts by the soldier who was nervously licking his lips whilst impatiently staring at him.

“Mary was right, John .Who we really are, doesn’t matter. Not to them.Not to the ones outside Baker Street that read about our cases and sit in our client’s chairs.The only people it matters to are us, our friends and our Rosie.What you have just written is truly wonderful to me but …”

“it’s private…”

“Yes, John…”

“Okay, Sherlock. Okay.I won’t publish it.”

John lifted his laptop, opened the tab and began typing a sentence before clicking a button on the computer that allowed the draft copy of his blog to start printing. It was now Sherlock’s turn to wait patiently for John to explain what he was doing.

“Before I delete it from existence, I’m firstly going to print it out, frame it and put it in our bedroom. For our eyes only.It’s my valentine’s gift to you.”

Sherlock excitedly pulled the paper from the printer and couldn’t help but notice an obvious change to the piece that he had read only moments before.

“You changed the title, John”

“Yes. Seemed more fitting.”

“The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.That might be your best case title yet, John!”

John grabbed Sherlock by the hand and began leading him towards their bedroom.

“Let’s go pick a spot for this.”

“Could take a while, Doctor Watson.There are a few positions I would like to test out

‘Oh,believe me, I’m counting on that, Mr.Holmes.”

Ten

There are ten beer bottles sitting on his kitchen counter.

All of them are empty, lined up in rows of three with the odd man out lying on its side. He spins this one around, the label blurring as he leans his hip against the granite countertop.

The countertop they picked out together, not so long ago. Dark grey, modern and stylish, just like she wanted.

Around and around the green bottle spins until his eyes can’t take it anymore. He throws the bottle in the garbage can instead of the recycle bin. Partly because he’s almost a full case of beer deep and wasn’t really paying attention but also because she always insisted that they recycle as much as they could.

“It’s better for the environment,” he muses out loud to himself, his words slurring as he starts chucking the remaining beer bottles into the garbage, one by one.

She’s not here to yell at him anyways, so why the fuck should he care.

Nine

There are voicemails waiting for him when he wakes up the next morning.

“Bellamy, it’s your sister. What in the hell are you doing not answering your phone for days? Call me back!!”

“Bell? It’s Jasper. Just wanted to check up on you, man. Let me know how you’re doing.”

“Yo, It’s Murphy. Fuck that girl, let’s get drunk.”

“Hey, it’s Monty. I’m sure everyone is calling you but…we’re worried about you. Please let someone know if you’re okay.”

“Bell, honey? It’s mom. Please call me when you get this, your sister and I are worried about you. Love you.”

“Blake, it’s Miller. Octavia is freaking out man, hasn’t stopped calling me since yesterday. I know you’re hurting but…just please call someone back. Later.”

“Mr. Blake, it’s Professor Stanley. I just wanted to let you know that I received your email and am sorry to hear you won’t be able to speak in my class this week. Hope we can schedule something again soon.”

“God damn it, Bellamy Blake! If you don’t call me back, I’m going to tell mom about all the stupid shit you did in high school. And we both know you don’t want that hellfire to rain down upon you. Call. Me. Back!”

“Hey….Bell. It’s me. Look, I know we said we weren’t going to call each other but…I just wanted to say that I’m sorry for the way that we ended things. I know it was for the best but…I just…please don’t pull away from everyone. They all love you so much. And so do I. I’m sorry.”

He deletes all of them but the last one, sets his phone on that fucking grey countertop and hits the speaker button.

“….They all love you so much. And so do I.”

Her voice is broken but so is his heart so he listens to it a few more times until he feels like breaking his phone.

anonymous asked:

Ooh are you ding prompts? Can we get a 41. "I'm pregnant" with Negan? Btw I appreciate your time and Effort

“You’re pregnant?” Negan asked, he was stood very still as he studied you. His eyes flicked from your face to your stomach. You nodded tentatively, watching his expression closely to see how he would react.

You and Negan had talked about before, sure, but the way that Negan had phrased it was that he envisioned kids into the future, not a few months on. You gnawed on your thumb, a nervous habit of yours.

Negan strode across the room and with a small yelp from you Negan had picked you up, hand hands snaking around your waist. He spun you around as you wrapped your arms around his neck, you laughed freely.

Negan stopped spinning, a large smile on his face as he let your toes touch the cold, wooden floor. You pushed a single strand of hair out of your face, as he did so he caressed your cheek.

“I love you so much.” Negan said in am almost mesmerized voice. You chuckled and kissed him softly on the lips. “You know, this is the time you say ‘I love you’ back?” Negan whispered against your lips. A smile broke across your features and Negan wasn’t sure that he had ever seen anything more beautiful.

“I promise to protect our baby, I promise you that nothing will ever hurt them.” Negan said in a soft but determined tone. He took your hand and brought to your lips, placing a soft kiss to your palm.

“I trust you.” You smiled back.

Favorite moments from Ten Count cast talk~

A compilation of some highlights from the cast talks in the four volumes of Ten Count drama CDヾ(*ΦωΦ)ツ

1. Mysophobia

(CD1)

Maeno Tomoaki (Kurose’s seiyuu): I’m slightly mysophobic. I really don’t like it when people use my bathroom…

Tachibana Shinnosuke (Shirotani’s seiyuu): Ahh! I want to use it!

Maeno: *lol* Are you a do-S?

… (when concluding the talk)

Tachibana: I got to see a lot of things that I never knew about Maeno-kun before this time.

Maeno: I hope people can take those things (about me) in a positive way.

Tachibana: Sooner or later, I’ll make sure to use your bathroom.

Maeno: *LOL* Are you a do-S?

2. Four-Letter Ikemen Friend

(CD1, still on the topic of mysophobia)

Tachibana: Do you invite friends to your house then, Maeno-kun?

Maeno: I do, but only certain people have come into my house…

Tachibana: Hehhh~

Maeno: If we’re talking about the people in the (voice acting) circle, only one person has been to my place…

Tachibana: Wow!

Maeno: …That friend of mine, um, whose name starts with a K, um, and has three, no, four letters…

Tachibana: *laughs*

Maeno: That ikemen friend of mine…

Tachibana: *laughs* Oh, ikemen! An ikemen seiyuu.

Maeno: He’s the only one who’s been to my house.

Tachibana: Wow, is that so?

Maeno: That’s how much I don’t like to let people into my house…

Tachibana: Hehhhh!

Maeno: So I can kind of understand Shirotani’s feelings.

3. Not Very Tiring

(CD1, at the very beginning)

Tachibana: Otsukare-sama deshita. (“Thank you for your hard work,” or more literally, “You must’ve been tired.”)

Maeno/Fukushima Jun (Mikami’s seiyuu): Otsukare-sama deshita!

Maeno: I am not very tired! (Because *nothing really happened* in CD 1 lol)

Tachibana: Pfft!

*everyone laughs*

Tachibana: You’re right.

(And then in CD2)

Maeno: I think last time (in the first CD), Kurose’s aggressiveness is based more on his position as a psychologist, but this time he starts to become aggressive for his own emotional reasons… We can see more fluctuation in his emotion.

Tachibana: Yeah, you’re probably right. Since he is also starting to see how Shirotani feels, (Kurose) tries to push (their relationship) a step further.

Maeno: There is a chance that he’ll have an emotional outburst next time, and things are gonna get dramatic.

*everyone laughs*

Tachibana: Well, he’s been holding himself back the whole time…

Maeno: There is a chance that we’ll feel tired after the next recording session.

Tachibana: *LOL*

Exo Reacting to you doing the hip thrust (and failing)

This goes for one sweet anon who sent the request! I hope you like it!

Kai:

He would probably find it hilarious but incredibly cute, so he would try to contain his laughter and just giggle a little bit while he tries to show you the right way to do it.

“Nooo jagi, it’s more like this…” (Of course after watching him do that you would probably die) “Jagi… are you okay?”

Daddy Issues  (Tony Stark/Peter Quill x reader)

Request:  Avengers and GOTG Crossover can you do a Tony Stark/Peter Quill fic where you’re Tony’s daughter who ran away when you were 15 because he barely paid any attention to you and you were picked up by Ravagers after discovering you have the power of energy manipulation there you met Peter Quill who fell in love with you. When you’re like 25 and part of GOTG and engaged to Peter the Milano crashes on Earth and Tony is the only one who can help fix it you have to face him with Peter being protective

He probably didn’t even know you were gone.  That selfish jerk was up in his lab working on some stupid project that was bound to fail, and likely had no clue that you were now standing on the sidewalk outside, ready to run.  To you, it was just one more disappointment in a long line of parental failures; before Iron Man, and before the Avengers, he was at least a descent parent.  Was he a model father?  No, of course not, this was Tony Stark.  Before he decided to save the world, he at least took the time to do things with you, to teach you about the life around you, and he gave you the attention that you wanted from him as a father.

Once he joined the Avengers, it began to change, and once they all moved into the tower, it became worse than ever.  He was too wrapped up in the business, and too focused on making the world safe rather than being a part of yours.  He didn’t completely ignore you, and he would be there when it was asked of him, but his lack of initiative to be there for you because it was right was enough to finally drive you away at the young age of only 15 years.

Your mother was an Inhuman; something that wasn’t known when you were born, and something that even your father didn’t know until you showed signs only recently.  You had the ability of energy manipulation, with the power to absorb, amplify, scatter and negate kinetic, radiant, and gravitational energies. You were meant to join the Avengers one day, but now you would never join a team that had so completely taken your father from you.

One thing that Tony had given you was a flair for the dramatic, and to be the center of attention in any room.  If you were walking away, you wanted him to give him a parting gift.  Looking up at the tower, you focused your mind on the reactor that illuminated it so brightly in the night sky.  Your eyes were fixated on the large A that hung above you; a symbol of all that you had come to despise.  You waited several minutes for the sidewalk around you to clear before you began to walk away, smiling to yourself as the tower went dark and the massive symbol dropped from its perch and crashed to the ground behind you.

~~~(Ten Years Later)~~~
“Hey, babe, have you seen my right shoe?”
“Which one?”
“The one that goes with the left one!”
You stuck your head out around the corner from the back of the ship, looking at your fiancé with confusion and exasperation, “I meant which shoes, dumbass.  Which pair of shoes are you wearing?”
“Oh, yeah, sorry,” he mumbled, “these!”  Peter stuck his foot in the air so that you could see what he was looking for, then waited in that position, expecting you to find it right away.
“You can put your foot down.”
With a huff, he lowered his foot and stood to join you.  He waited in the door of your shared quarters, watching you get dressed.  “I just want to look good, so I thought these would be the best.”
You turned around slowly, knowing that he never cared about what he was wearing enough to spend even a minute looking for anything.  “Look good for what, exactly?”  Stepping towards him, you gave him a skeptical look and poked him in the chest. “What are you up to, Quill?”
He opened his mouth and gasped as if he were completely shocked at your insinuation, “why would you think I’m up to something?  That’s just rude, (Y/N).  I’m very offended.”
“Okay, now I’m sure you’re up to something.  You’re a terrible liar.”  You pushed him aside and hurried towards the front of the ship, stopping short when the view from the windows had changed drastically from when you last looked. The solar system had become all too familiar, and the planet directly ahead gave you an unnerving sense of dread. “No.  Pete, no.”
“Why not?”  You felt his hands on your shoulders but you shrugged him off.  “(Y/N), come on.  He’s your dad.  Don’t you think that he should know that your getting married?  Don’t you think that it’s time to put everything behind you and move on?”
“I thought you understood,” you whispered to yourself as much as to him.  “This isn’t something that’s up for discussion.”  Reaching down to reset the coordinates, you found the controls locked and Peter making no moves to help you.  “Unlock them.”
“Babe…”
“It’s not up for discussion!”  Your anger began to boil over, and you could feel energy coursing through your body. If he wasn’t going to turn the ship around, then you would have to do it on your own.  Slamming your hand down on the control panel, you pushed as much power as you could into redirecting the craft and taking over its navigation system. It was draining you quickly, but you had to hurry anyway before he tried to interfere.
The ship began to shake as it turned, but not in the way you had expected.  You released your hand but it was too late; your surge of energy had destroyed the system and you were headed towards the Earth without a way to steer from your course.  Peter pushed you aside and threw himself into the pilot seat, trying to take control. After a few minutes of banging the panel and frantically pushing buttons, he finally sat back in defeat.
“Okay, well it looks like we’ll be making quite an entrance, (Y/N).  You’ve just guaranteed that we’re gonna visit daddy.”
~~~

It was all you could do to stay upright as the ship shuddered and slid into your landing.  Peter had originally plotted a landing near the tower, but your interference brought the ship to a halt in the hangar bay; it was the only way he could land without risking hurting you or someone inside. It was anything but a smooth arrival, skidding into the hanger, taking out a part of the front wall and sliding through to the back.  There was no way for you to make a subtle arrival now.

“Pete, this isn’t going to go well, okay?  Just let me handle it.”  You reached down to take his hand to not only lead him from the ship and into the tower, but to calm the shaking in your own.  “I haven’t seen him for ten years, and I have no idea what kind of reception we’re going to get.  Especially considering the entrance we’ve made.”

“Yourfault” he coughed.

“Thanks,” you sneered, rolling your eyes.  You glanced out the window and saw him running towards you, with Steve in tow.  “Let me go first.  It’s just the two of them.”  You pulled your hand from his and stepped out into their view, unsure if they would actually recognize you after all this time.

“(Y/N)?” Tony whispered, his face immediately growing pale.  He took a few steps closer to get a better look, glancing over to Steve with wide eyes.  “(Y/N), where did you go?”  He stopped just a few feet from you, acting like he was unsure that you were real and even a bit scared to approach.

“Hey, dad.”

At the confirmation that it was you, he rushed forward and grabbed your shoulders, holding you at arms length and speaking with a much louder voice filled with more confidence, “where did you go?”

“Tony, calm down,” Steve said as he stepped in and put his hand on Tony’s shoulder.

“Back off, Cap!”

“Hey, hey, let go of her,” Peter barked out, joining you and quickly pulling you back and away from Tony’s grasp.  “I think we all need to take it down a bit, alright?”

“Who the hell are you?”

“I’m Peter Quill, your future son-in-law, that’s the hell who.”

You closed your eyes and groaned, awaiting the tirade that you were sure your father was about to start. “Oh my god…”

“This is some kind of joke right?” Tony laughed, thought his face was still angry, “it is, it’s some sick joke that I’m just supposed to laugh off and act like nothing happened.”

You turned to face Peter and began to push him back into the ship.  “I told you.”

“(Y/N), wait,” Steve called out to you, “just wait a minute.”  He grabbed Tony by the arm and pulled him away, despite his resistance to stay.  You watched the conversation between the two men; it was very animated, with Tony gesturing towards you and throwing his hands in the air several times.  After a few minutes, and with Steve appearing to take the upper hand, they both rejoined you and Peter at the ship.

“(Y/N),” Tony said quietly, not making eye contact with you, and looking like he had just been scolded by Steve.  “I’m sorry. Would you please come with me so that we can talk?”  His gaze moved from the floor to Peter, though only for a second, “Alone?”

~~~
“If you were feeling that way, then why didn’t you just talk to me?”
“I did talk to you, dad. You never listened.  You were too wrapped up in saving the world to hear me anyway.”
Tony leaned back in his chair, swiveling it slightly side to side as he looked at you.  You were so much older and so different than the last time he saw you, but he could still see a lot of himself.  It scared him how much of your mother that he saw as well; you had the same fight in you, and you took about as much of his crap as she had.
“I’m sorry that I was such a terrible father.  I can’t do anything about the past, and I can only apologize so many times.  So,” he sighed and leaned forward on the table, “how about you tell me about this Peter Quill guy.”
You weren’t sure if he was being genuine or not, or if he had motives in asking you, but you took the chance in trusting him for the first time in a very, very long time.  “I met him right after I was taken, he protected me, taught me, and now here we are.”
“And now here we are,” he agreed with a small smile crossing his lips.
“I didn’t mean to make that kind of entrance.  Is there a way that you might be able to get us back in the sky?  When we…are ready to?”
“Yeah, I can give her a kick.  But can you do something for me?”
You took a deep breath, a little nervous about what he was going to ask, “Sure, let’s have it.”
“When you get married, I’d like you do it here.  Let me do that for you?  I’m great at parties, if you remember,” he said with a quiet but nervous laugh.  “And maybe you both stay for a while after? Maybe stay for a while now?”
You visibly relaxed and realized that the fight was over.  “Well, we have this…team…that’s waiting for us to join up again, but we can stay for a couple of days.  And I’ll talk to Pete about the rest.”
He nodded and put his hand over yours, doing his best to be fatherly, “It’s a start.”
“It certainly is.”
