still clinging

Goodbye

I never thought I’d be doing this. I planned to do giveaways long after nintendo burned pokemon to the ground, but here we are. I’m leaving giveaways, maybe for a few months, maybe forever. I’m not reliable enough anymore nor do I even do much giveaways anymore. Well, I cant say I ever really was reliable, as time after time I’ve messed up and hurt people who were counting on me. Giveaways really mean a lot to me, even as I’m writing this I’m still clinging to hope that maybe, somehow, I can still continue doing this. It helped me stay alive another day just to get more pokemon when I first started participating in giveaways, and looking forward to doing the actual giveaways later on. It gave me a sense of belonging, to when I was just another mod when this was originally tcgiveaways, to wondertag and all the people who have come and gone from there, to tapugiveaways and the amazing and wonderful people on there. But Im not strong enough to continue, and Im not stupid enough either. Its important to chase your dreams no matter what, but if your dream is slamming your head into a wall, you need to realize when to quit and just say no, I cant do this.

So thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart thank you everyone who has been with me. I wish you all better luck in your lives.

I came out to my mom on the sofa when I was 13. I was like, "Mom, I'm bi." and without skipping a beat she said "No you aren't." And I mean, I identify as a lesbian now so I guess she was right? I came out to dad when I was 17 in the car and he immediately started trying to guy talk with me about what kinds of women are attractive and I was mortified. Over 10 years later and he's still way more cool with my sexuality than my mom, mom still clings to the idea I'll "find the right guy someday".

Ugh gross. Sorry about your mom.

Samuel Blenkin looks more like how I imagined Scorpius! I'm excited to see his take on the role but Anthony will always be *my* Scorpius

I’m still in a state of extreme freak out and realising I’m still clinging to the original cast’s ankles, so I’m not going to form any thoughts for feelings until I’ve had time for the photos to sink in.

Although, the boys are adorable in the video and, er, look like they get on quite well.

It’s weird! It’s just really weird. :D

Horror in Room 1046

Just after lunch time on 2 January, 1935, a young man entered the Hotel President in Kansas City, Missouri. He had no luggage and asked if he could have a room for the night. He signed his name as “Roland T. Owen” was given the key for room 1046. Shortly afterwards, the maid arrived to clean the room. As she opened the door, she found the man sitting on the bed in the dark. Even though it was still light outside, he had tightly drawn the blind. She recalled that the man seemed somewhat afraid or nervous. As she was cleaning, he put on his coat and left the room, asking her to leave the door unlocked because he was expecting a friend to arrive later on. At approximately 4PM, the maid arrived at room 1046 to leave fresh towels for the evening. The man was lying on the bed with a note beside him which read: “Don, I will be back in fifteen minutes. Wait.

The following morning, the maid arrived once again to clean the room. Once again, she found the man sitting in the dark. As she cleaned around him, he took a call from “Don” and told him he wasn’t going to get any breakfast. Before she left, he began to question her about her role within the hotel and what duties she was to carry out. When she returned later on in the afternoon with more fresh towels, an unidentified male grunted that they didn’t need any. Later on in the afternoon, another guest reported hearing a woman’s voice coming from room 1046 and relayed that she sounded angry. At around 11pm that night, a man driving downtown saw a man running down the street in pants and a shirt - strange clothing choice for the brisk winter air, he though. The man asked the driver, who he initially mistook as a taxi driver, if he could give them a lift to somewhere that he could flag down a taxi. He noted that the oddly dressed man had a large wound on his arm and looked in a bad shape.

Back at the Hotel President the next morning, it was noticed that the phone in room 1046 was left off the hook. A bellboy was sent up to inform the guest. When nobody answered, he used a master key to enter the room. At first glance, he saw blood smeared over the walls and over the floor. In the bathroom, “Roland T. Owen” was on his knees with rope tied around his neck and wrists. He had been repeatedly stabbed and bludgeoned across the head. Still clinging to life, he said he had “fell against the bathtub.” He died later on that night. An investigation of the room turned up nothing. Not one piece of clothing could be found nor any complimentary hygiene products or towels. It was soon discovered that the man had given a fake name, thus his body was displayed at a local funeral home in the hopes that somebody could recognise him. The man who had picked up the bewildered hitchhiker the night before recognised him immediately. Multiple people from separate establishments, including other hotels and even a wrestling arena, came forward to identify him. However, each person that identified him said that he gave a different name.

As the weeks passed, the man remained unidentified, even though many could identify him by appearance. He was intended to be buried in the city’s cemetery for the unidentified but as locals caught wind of this, police received an anonymous letter from somebody who asked them to hold the burial off until they would be able to forward a hefty amount for a decent burial and funeral. Days later, the money came in and he was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery. A local florist also received an anonymous donation for a bouquet of flowers that were signed off with “Love Forever - Louise.” Other than a couple of investigators working on the case, nobody attended the funeral.

The case remained cold until 1936, when Eleanor Ogletree read about the murder in a magazine. She believed the description of the man sounded like her brother, 17-year-old Artemus Ogletree, who had been missing since 1934. The family had assumed he was okay because in spring of 1935 - months after “Roland T. Owen” died - they had received several typewritten letters from Artemus, claiming he was sailing to Europe. The family were initially suspicious of these letters because Artemus couldn’t type. A few months after these letters, they received a phone call from a man who told them that Artemus had saved his life in Egypt and that he was happily married to a woman he had met in his travels.

The Ogletree family were shown a photo of the murder victim. It was Artemus, they unfortunately confirmed. His identification led to even more questions. Why had he used so many fake names? Who was the woman in his room? Who was Don? What happened to him the evening he was picked up by the driver, looking dishevelled? Who paid for his funeral? Who was Louise? Who sent the letters to his family? And finally, who killed him and why?

One Foot In The Grave

First thing Keith did when he got home was scream into his pillow and flop onto his bed.
Lance had kissed him!
He hottest and most popular guy in school had actually kissed him.
“Good day?” Shiro asked from the door way.
He didn’t have his prosthetic on and looked like he had just gotten out of the shower with his hair still wet clinging to his forehead.
“Shiro am I dead?” Keith asked remaining face down.
“What?” He asked in surprise sitting on the edge of the bed.
“I think I must of died, maybe I’m passed out somewhere and it didn’t really happen.” Keith mumbled.
Shiro was starting to get worried, he had never seen his brother like this before. “Keith, buddy you need to tell me what happened.”
“Lancekissedme.” Keith said very very quietly.
“What was that?” Shiro asked sure he must of misheard him.
“L-Lance the guy everyone at school loves kissed me…”
“…”
Silence.
Keith bit his lip nervously staring down at his Spider-Man bed spread.
Shiro started laughing causing the younger boy to glare up at him. “What’s so funny!” He demanded.
“I figured you had killed someone.” Shiro answered between laughs. “Never expected you to act this way over a little old kids, anyone would think it was… wait a second.” Shiro peered at him for a second before putting his hand on his shoulders “Keith Kogane was that your first kiss?” He asked quietly, his voice and face masked in neutrality.
Keith hesitated before finally nodding.
Shiro’s grip tightened and a forced smile appeared on his face. “Really? And this random hot shot took it?” The casual tone sounded so forced that Keith found himself cringing.
“He’s not some random guy.”
“So then why have you never mentioned him before?” Shiro asked.
“Well erm… cause we never really talked and stuff.” Keith shrugged pretending not to mind when Shiro’s grip became a little painful.
“Oh.” Was all he said.
“Oh?” Keith questioned.
“Yes oh…” Shiro dropped his hand to his lap thinking for a moment. “I’ll talk to you later, I need to think over something.”
Keith watched in concern as his bother stumbled out of the room mumbling to himself.
———————————–
“Allura I kissed Keith!” Lance yelled wheeling his chair into his oldest sisters room.
She was lying on her stomach across her bed messing around on her laptop.
“Jeez Lance ever learn how to knock.” She sighed sitting up to look at him.
“No time! I kissed Keith! Keith Kogane!” He yelled.
Allura’s eyes widened “oh… my… god…”
“I know!”
“You kissed the guy you declared your rival!”
“I know!”
“The guy you’ve had a crush on for like ever!”
“I know!”
“You had your first kiss with your dream guy!”
“I KNOW!”
At this point Allura had jumped up and was kneeling in front of Lance. “Ok tell me everything!”
Lance explained how he had broken his leg and Keith helped him get home and in the spur of the moment he decided to kiss him before slamming the door in his face so he could hide behind Leo for a few hours.
Allura listened growing increasingly more excited.
“Ok I’m taking you to school tomorrow!” She decided. “Your cars in the shot anyway, and it’s not like you can walk to school. Plus I gotta make sure he’s good enough for my little bro.”
She hugged him making Lance squirm pretending not to enjoy her hugs when in fact he loved them. “Allurrrrrra.” He moaned pushing her away.
———————————–
The next morning Keith was in the kitchen having breakfast when Shiro walked down in his sleepless tank top that he only ever wore when he wanted people to notice just how ripped her was.
“I’m coming to school with you. And before you say no I’m gonna say that I don’t care what you have to say. I need to go down their anyway and this has nothing to do with this Lance boy.”
Keith wasn’t convinced but knew arguing would be pointless.
So that’s how Keith found himself stuck with his brother leaning against the bonnet of his car in the parking lot looking for anyone that fit Lance’s description.
“Shiro seriously stop.” Keith rolled his eyes as Shiro glared at yet another tall skinny tanned boy.
“Not until I meet this boy, I just want a chat.”
Keith groaned. He knew this would happen.
“Keith!”
The two whipped their heads round to see a tall woman running directly towards them.
Shiro blushed, he would know that beautiful white hair anywhere.
Allura came to a stop just short of running into the two and was smiling.
“Lance is in the office and I figured I would let you know. I’m sure the two of you have a lot to talk about.”
Keith paled slightly “whys he in the office? Is he ok?” He asked a little too quickly to sound casual.
Allura nodded waving him off with her hand “oh yes he is perfectly fine, just needed to change his class schedule so he doesn’t have to go up any stairs until his prosthetic’s repaired.”
Keith didn’t wait for anymore information and instead took off running leaving the two adults alone.
“It’s good to see you again Shiro, I heard you got back but didn’t have your number.”
Shiro swallowed “oh yeah… erm so you know Lance?”
Allura laughed “I would hope so, he is my little brother after all.”
Shiro helped whatever god was looking out for him that he didn’t end up yelling at his crushes little brother right in front of her. “Oh. I never realised.”
“Not many do, Lance was adopted after he lost his parents in the same accident that cost him his legs, it’s been hard for him. But I’m sure you understand better then anyone what losing a limb is like.
Shiro was silent. He hadn’t realised Lance was like him.
“Yeah I do.”

highkey stressing that the writers are going to have Fitz be even remotely conflicted at all in whatever he feels for Aida. I can understand him being shellshocked, having just come out of the Framework and dealing with the horrible things he did there, but please no. Don’t do that. Don’t let that wordless stare he gave her be conflicted feelings. Let him be rock solid in that he loves Jemma, only Jemma, and that he knows Aida programmed him to love her to serve her own needs.

You took another bite of your cereal and watched Bucky walk over to the refrigerator. He opened the door and reached in, grabbing a water. You and Nat both barely held in groans when he tipped it back and took long pulls from the bottle, the muscles in his throat working vigorously.

He had been down in the gym with Steve. He hadn’t hit the shower yet so his chest was gloriously bare, sweat still clinging to his skin. The gray gym shorts he was wearing were hanging low on his hips, a peak of his black underwear visible. The sweat on his legs were making his shorts stick to his thighs.

That is the cause of death you had been referring to.

When you had entered the gym a half an hour ago to retrieve your hairbrush that you left in the shower room, Bucky had been doing squats. You had frozen in place as you watched the muscles in his back bunch with every movement. His shorts had stretched tight across his firm ass and had ridden halfway up his thighs. The muscles were straining as he bent deep, the weights on the barbell across his shoulders staying parallel.

Can we just talk about Morty for a second?

This new episode brought a shit ton of character development and I can’t stop thinking about Morty. Even though Morty seems to do nothing compared to Summer this episode, I think so much about him is revealed. It’s referenced multiple times in the series that we’ve been following the “Rickest Rick”, from the moment the Citadel of Ricks was introduced. With it came the concept of the “Mortiest Morty”, something Rick initially says to comfort Morty after he realizes he’s basically just brain wave camouflage. But I don’t think this is true. I think our Morty is the “Un-Mortiest Morty”

It makes sense that we have the Un-Mortiest Morty, a smarter Morty (not an eyepatch Morty kind of smart, but in more of a perceptive way). That’s what makes our pair so interesting- they’re at the two opposite ends of their own personal spectrums. If you really think about it, the Mortiest Morty would probably be the dumbest Morty, someone like Lawyer Morty (who Morty even realizes is a horrible “lawyer”, since he’s just a dumb Morty). The Mortiest Morty is one who blindly follows Rick with complete devotion and is the brunt of the joke most of the time, even if he doesn’t realize it. Our Morty is smarter than he’s given credit for. He may not be a scientist, but he’s smart enough to realize Rick probably has some kind of plan to escape prison, even if he has no clue what it is.

When Morty and Summer are told their Rick has been assassinated, Morty still yells at the council “If you think my Rick is dead he’s alive, and if you think you’re safe he’s coming for you!” If another Morty was told their Rick was dead, they would be completely lost. Our Morty is smarter than this, and also more devoted to his parents and sister than to Rick at this point. He understands Rick in a way they never will, and in all honesty he probably doesn’t even want them to understand. This time apart from Rick has made Morty realize how much better the family is without him. Even if Beth and Summer are heartbroken that Rick is gone, it’s still better than them truly realizing Rick will never care about them. Rick will say and do enough to make sure they still idolize him (Summer even calls him her hero!!), but Morty knows Rick truly wouldn’t give a shit about them if they couldn’t improve his existence in some way. Morty is his camoflauge, Beth gives him a rent-free place for his workshop, and he acknowledges Summer to stay on Beth’s (and honestly Morty’s) good side and keep benefiting from them. He thrives off of having power over people, and his family is no exception. Our Morty gets this and even says it to Summer, but she especially still clings to the hope that Rick loves her deep down. And maybe he does very deep down in his own way. He is still human after all, and a few times they’ve shown Rick with at least some kind of emotion.

This whole thing is supported even more by the fact that Morty tries to talk Summer down from trying to rescue Rick instead of trying to help. The Mortiest Morty would jump at the chance to help Rick. Yes, our Morty knows Rick can handle himself, but he also cares more about his family and knows that Summer is better off without him. Even if their new, alien-run world is strange, it’s better for his family than when Rick isn’t around. His parents’ marriage is in a better place, Summer can lead a more normal life (as he says), and honestly Morty probably just enjoys the temporary calm, because he knows Rick will be back. But since he has no idea how or when, he won’t reveal this to anyone. Our Morty even tries to kill Rick to save his sister (and end Rick’s relentless teasing, because he knows he is smarter than Rick gives him credit for). Just the fact that he has the courage to turn on his Rick and actually pull the trigger in favor of Summer shows how un-Morty our Morty really is.

So yeah. There’s so much going on in this new episode it’s hard to get through all of it. And I know this sounds very anti-Rick, but I think this is how Morty sees everything.

Summary: You and Yoongi shared a loving relationship with one another until you both agreed to end things and pursue your separate careers. But two years later, Yoongi is a member of the ever growing Bangtan Boys, and you are a new makeup artist for their upcoming tour.
Pairing: Yoongi | Reader
Genre: Fluff/Angst/Smut; Idol & Makeup Artist AU
Word Count: 7,692
Author’s Note: Now, I don’t want to give away too much of this chapter right off the bat, but I’m giving this chapter an ‘M’ rating for a reason.

.

A lot of things have changed in the past 2 years—you are the last person who would ever try to deny that.

For instance, you don’t know if Yoongi still likes caramel macchiato with his two shots of espresso, or if he still reaches out to cling for the nearest source of warmth while remaining on the brink of unconsciousness, or even if music is still the most important thing in his life. You don’t know if he can still record the lyrics floating around in his mind as easily as gathering strings of cotton candy, or if he hides his emotions underneath miles and miles of apathy. There’s a lot of things you no longer know about Yoongi. You’ve changed a lot in 2 years and it would be foolish and naive to assume that Yoongi had not.

But there’s one thing you know has not changed over the course of that time, and that was how naturally you could fold yourself into Yoongi’s touch, how his lips could still light all the nerves underneath your skin like fire, sparking you into life, and how readily you could feel yourself responding to him.

When Yoongi dives back into for another kiss, one that contains just as much passion, anger, remorse, and desperation as the first one, you can’t deny on returning the gesture with equal frenzy. He still does good in making your mind spin like a top, your sense of gravity severely distorted as you feel like you might topple over if you don’t grip onto the closest thing that just so happens to be the fabric of Yoongi’s t-shirt. The material is soft in between your fingers, clenching it to pull him closer and he doesn’t protest. The kiss is hard, teeth and tongue and shallow breathing as Yoongi grips the edges of the makeup counter behind you as a means to cage you in and keep himself grounded.

Language

(This post is going around.  Since I pretty much like the post, I’m making my own post rather than introducing this in the responses there, but I do want to link to it for context.)

A really cool and classy trans lady I corresponded with for a while on a different social site used words like “transsexual” and “transgendered.”  She spoke of herself as being born in the wrong body, and she spoke of herself as being biologically male, MTF.

She was in her late 60s.

I did not correct her.  I would not in a hundred years have dared.

Given the social climate and hostility she had endured, I was fortunate to be speaking to her at all.

I have occasionally seen younger people criticizing older people quite harshly for that sort of thing.  That hurts.

The use of language changes, my friends.

It is so, so very important to help people outside the community understand what language is most appropriate, and it’s important to discuss this stuff within the community so that we can reach some kind of consensus (however messy) moving forward.

It is also very, very important to respect the elders among us, and to understand that their experiences and the wisdom they have to share with us are of tremendous importance and incalculable value.  And the language they use?  Is part of their history, and our history, and respecting that fact in all its complexity is part of respecting them . . . and respecting ourselves as a community.

Language is so important, but in thirty years I guarantee you some of the language we defend so vigorously now will be woefully outdated, and many of us will still be clinging to it, much to the consternation of the younger generation.

I’m not saying it isn’t important to strive to create the most respectful, helpful language possible, and educate others when it is right to do so.  It is vitally necessary that we do so.  But we have to remember that this is a process that, thank heavens, never, ever ends.

Language cannot, and should not, stop evolving.  Look at us.  Look at all of us.  So beautiful, so many.  We are a dynamic community, a vivid community, full of art and history and passion and pathos and great, great power.  Something so lively is always surrounded by change.  That is so beautiful, and should be welcomed going forward … and it should be respected looking back.

There are words not yet invented that will apply to those not yet born.  Those people should be respected when they join us.  And the words we use now, they are good for now, and we should be respected.  And our elders should be respected.  Letting language take that from us is a horrifying prospect.

So.  Let us not forget that language is primarily meant to be what helps bind us together.  Let us remember not to let it set us apart, to squeeze us like a fist.

Please remember your history when discussing language.  You will eventually be part of our history.  You already are.  Please.  Go with open hands.

Falling (Victor's Story) - by proantagonist - Chapter 1 of 2
Victor/Yuuri. Canon universe. Victor's childhood. Victor's parents. Falling in love with Yuuri. Victor's relationship with Yakov.
By Organization for Transformative Works

Victor blurted out the question not long after that, no longer able to keep it inside himself. “What do you want me to be to you?”

But Yuuri’s answer was not at all what he expected.

It was, however, the kind of answer he liked. It sparkled in his mind and puzzled him enough to keep him awake that night, pondering the irony while he was sitting alone in his bedroom with the smell of ocean salt and driftwood still clinging to his hair.

“I want you to be yourself,” Yuuri had said in reply.

And wasn’t that just the funniest thing?

This whole time, Victor had been trying to figure out which mask to wear to make Yuuri happy, when all he wanted was for Victor to take it off and show him the real person beneath.

Notes from the author:

Victor is my favorite YOI character, and you’re about to find out why.

This story is told from his POV and is meant to cover the earlier part of Season One. (To be specific, Episodes 4ish to the end of 7.) It will fill in the scenes we didn’t see in the anime. (Like that day at the beach from the end credits, pair skating practices, falling in love, Victor struggling with his relationship with Yakov, Yuuri’s free skate fitting, and MUCH more.)

While this story can be read entirely on its own, it’s technically a prequel to my other story Winter Song, which covers Episodes 7-12 and beyond. So if you enjoy this two-part, Victor-centric prequel, you can keep reading in Winter Song, which is currently around 120,000 words and will be wrapping up soon.

The title of this fic comes from the song Can’t Help Falling in Love, the significance of which my WS readers will recognize and the rest of you can probably take a good guess. :)

Hope you enjoy!

I woke early this morning and made my way to the kitchen, Steve was already up, wolfing down a protein bar and preparing for a run. Not quite ready for conversation and definitely not interested in a run on my first vacation in years, I slipped silently past him onto the elevated deck that wrapped around much of the cabin Y/N had managed to find and rent for us. I have to admit after 14 hours of driving yesterday alone, most of those hours contentious and stressful, this cabin with plenty of room for the four of us to spread out is a much-needed reprieve.

As much as I hate to admit it, Nat knew exactly what she was doing convincing Y/N to map out this trip. She knows exactly how far is too far a drive for one day, when we all need space or when it’s okay to tough it out and share a small hotel. Just now the space and the quiet is a welcome change from the hot, overcrowded amusement park or the busy city streets.

I check my watch and know the sun must be coming up, but looking out from the roughly hewn pine railing, all I see are tall, dark evergreens covering the rippling hills in front of me. I can’t even see another house from here. The morning air is cold on the back of my neck since I’ve tied my hair to calm it, so I flip my hood up over my head and turn with a start when I hear her soft voice. “It’ll warm up soon.”
