Luck Amulet Charm

Description: A charm to bring good luck to the wearer

What you’ll need:

  • Glass bottle charms
  • Stove top
  • Pot
  • Strainer
  • Funnel
  • 2-3 cups of water
  • Pinch or two of whole cloves
  • 1-2 sticks of cinnamon
  • Teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 orange or clementine (sliced)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Some small citrine stones
  • Optional: A small luck charm of your choice

How to make:

  1. Add the water, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, and orange/clementine slices to the pot and bring it to a boil.

2.  Once at a boil, drop the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer for at least an hour.
3.  After letting it simmer for some time, remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely. It is important that the mixture is cooled or you risk cracking the glass bottle.
4.  Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain out the liquid. Set the cloves and cinnamon stick aside, you will need them later.
5.  Take some of the liquid, enough to fill your charm bottles, and stir in the turmeric for color.
6.  Take the funnel and carefully transfer the liquid into bottles.
7.  Add 1-2 cloves, 1-2 small citrine stones, and a small sliver of cinnamon bark to the bottle and seal it. Note: The cinnamon bark will now be rubbery and easily cut with scissors.
8.  Optional: Add your luck charm to the bottle

Note: The liquid in the bottle most likely will darken over time. This is due to the cinnamon bark and cloves releasing tannins into the mixture.

Holy shitballs yall. Nierly has done written another smutty chapter for Open the Memory Cage.

I’m gonna stick it between chapters 1 and 2 since it details their first time together after 9S gets his memories back. Yes this is NSFW

A Very Serious Review Of Waterholes, by G. G. Dog, esq, Resident Forest Puddle/Really Big Stick Quality Control Officer

Peoplefriends with cars are THE BEST. Forest walks are THE BEST. Puddles are THE BEST. Giant sticks are THE BESTEST

Waterhole 1.

Right at the start of the walk, so BEST because convenient. Could dive in straight away before I got hot. Not very deep though and no good sticks.
3 stars.

Peoplefriends called me away before I could grab the nice straight stick an old man was walking around with. Found a better stick not far from there though. BEST STICK.

Waterhole 2:

Middle of the walk, and this one is always full so I zoom ahead long before the peoplefriends get there so I have extra swimming time.
It wasn’t as full as last time but still, nice and big, BEST mudding properties, a good cool place to stop and play with BEST STICK. 4 stars.

Waterhole 3

In conclusion: BEST DAY EVER

pre heating the oven before putting mozzarella sticks in makes me feel like an adult in the way that making and eating mozzarella sticks in 1 in the afternoon subsequently immediately destroys

Make Your Own Besom

You’ll Need:

  • A four foot stick ~1 inch in diameter
  • Ball of twine
  • Scissors
  • Straw, twigs, or herbs for the bristles
  1. Allow dry straw to soak overnight in warm, lightly salted water
  2. Remove the straws from the water and allow them to dry to the touch
  3. Lay out the length of your stick, and line up your straw
  4. Starting about three inches from the bottom, lay the straws facing backward along the stick
  5. Securely bind the straw to the stick with twine
  6. Continue adding as many layers of straw as necessary to reach desired fullness
  7. When the straw is secured, pull the straws down over the twine so that they face the right direction, covering your initial ties
  8. Tie off the folded straws again, a few inches below the original tie
  9. Leave the besom overnight to dry
  10. Paint and decorate the dry besom as desired
  11. Dedicate your finished besom in your Circle as you would any other ritual tool

This scene probably doesn’t mean a whole lot to everyone but the struggle of deciding whether or not to use one or another restroom sticks with trans people. Yes, she’s struggling with which alien bathroom to use, it’s heavily hinted trans symbolism as well. At some point in time every trans person will consider which one they should use. While this is an alien bathroom the symbolism still sticks, especially after season 1 depicting Pidge as a trans girl through the words she uses. It’s all subtext, yes, it’s not “canon,” no, but I see Pidge as a trans girl new into her identity, surrounded by loving and caring friends who support her. Pidge is important and could really help normalize transness, there’s other characters with the same kinda symbolism that can help normalize transness, it’s whether or not that the writers want to give us canon proof or not.

Did something out of my color scheme because it’s fun to try new things! ✨ Btw, I am announcing that I will be hosting a “back to school series” here on studyblr! More details will be announced later, so stay tuned~~!

「Quick tip: Don’t put too much colors on your notes because it can get too overwhelming! Stick to around 1-3 colors~」

Can’t wait to see these KINGS in ATL this Sunday 👁👅👁

Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Sage Brown Butter Cream

This dinner is time-saving and simple, but it doesn’t lack quality or flavor. It is simply incredible.

1 lb fresh wild mushroom ravioli

8 tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 shallot, minced

1 tsp fresh sage, chopped

1 cup heavy cream

½ - ¾ cup shredded parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped

Directions for Ravioli

For the ravioli, bring a few quarts of salted water to a boil – and cook the ravioli according to the recommended time.

Drain and set aside if you are not finished making the sauce by the time the ravioli are finished.

Directions for Sauce

Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat.

Place the shallot and stick of butter into the pan.

Allow the butter to melt slowly over the course of a few minutes. During this time, add in the sage.

Season with salt and pepper.

Once the butter begins to form brown bits and brown, reduce the heat to low and add in the heavy cream.

Whisk in the heavy cream and bring the heat back to medium.

Allow the mixture to gently bubble before adding in the cheese.

Add in the cheese, fresh parsley, adjust the seasoning to your taste, and allow the sauce to thicken. This generally takes 2-3 minutes with constant stirring.

Adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Add in the cooked ravioli and warm them for 1 minute.

Serve while hot and garnish with more fresh parsley or sage.

Hi! Hello! It’s me, Vanessa. So, I thought I would make a post about how I go about making my spreads (inspired to make one after seeing kuroristudie’s post), since people have asked me every now and then. I know my spreads are more on the artsy side and different each and every week and have no set layout, but these following steps are pretty much the same for each weekly spread I make.

Before we start: By no means do you have to set out your spreads the same as I do. Do what works for you! I just find that I actually use my bullet journal more when it’s nicely decorated. And many of the things I put into my spreads are optional, so you can add or take as much as you want!

Supplies used: Black lined A5 book from Muji, 0.5 Black Gel Pen from Muji, Milan Conic Tip Markers (), Glue Stick

Step 1: Inspiration/Themes

  • Every time before I begin a spread I’m always scrolling through tumblr, instagram or youtube looking for inspiration. For this week’s spread I took inspiration from the following posts:
  • Once I’ve found my inspiration then I choose a colour scheme and look for my main image, which the whole spread will be inspired by. For my ‘central image’ this week you could say it’s the image of Junhui and Jeonghan from Seventeen. What I like to do next is find a colour scheme similar to this image and for that I chose neutral colours.
  • After I’ve made these decisions I then look for images which follow this colour scheme or compliment the ‘central’ image I chose. I collate all my images and put it onto a word document and print it off at school.
  • As soon as I’ve printed my images out I choose the stationery that I will use to create that spread for that week. More often than not, the supplies I choose to use follow the same colour scheme. And sometimes I don’t use all the images I chose for the spread.

Step 2: Layout

  • Before I even write the month onto the page, I like to arrange the images onto the page and create different layouts. I’ll do this until I’m generally happy with the arrangement. Then I glue them down.
  • After this I write the title and draw in a column table, a box or a bunch of lines, where I’ll write down important dates (from my monthly calendar) for that week. I also like to add a mini calendar in there, so I actually know what day it is (and so I can see if there’s any upcoming events). If I feel like being extra for that week I like to write the title using watercolur.
  • Once that’s all done I then go in with all the extra stuff that you don’t need to do, such as: washi tape, stickers, etc.

Step 3: Using it throughout the week

  • This part may vary for different people as some may like to write in all their tasks for that week right away. Since I’m still in high school I prefer to write in any tasks at the end of each lesson or day.
  • When I go about writing my tasks I write the day of the week and the date. Then I write the homework or tasks I need to complete that day or that week underneath. You may write this part however you want!!

Step 4: Decorating

  • At the end of every week I like to go back and decorate the spread if there’s any empty space. I usually do this by adding doodles in here and there, writing lyrics/quotes, adding washi tape/stickers or placing a picture there.

Yay! It’s done!!

And this is the end product:

Dean and self worth in season 12

I was going to write a post about Cas as the unrequited lover this season but I ended up really focusing on Dean and his view of himself. It’s quite clear that Dean reciprocates the romantic feelings but is holding back. My perception is that its due to 3 main reasons (and I’m sure a whole bunch of others but lets stick to these).

1. Cas is an angel

2. Cas is a dude

3. Dean has poor self worth

I think the first subject is nearly a moot point as its pretty clear where Cas’s arc is going. The second has been discussed so many times I don’t want to insult anyone by repeating what much more coherent people have said. The third though I think has been less touched on in it’s relevance to this new season so here are my little thoughts.

Regarding his own self worth this has been an issue for Dean since the pilot…

Just a few moments to remind us:

Dean 9x10:
“Come on, man. Can’t you see? I’m… I’m poison, Sam. People get close to me, they get killed or worse.  You know, I tell myself that I I help more people than I hurt. And I tell myself that I’m – I’m doing it all for the right reasons, and I believe that. But I can’t, I won’t drag anybody through the muck with me. Not anymore.”

Now unfortunately Cas actually makes this sense of self worth even worse as clearly since their first real defining moment, when Cas defied HEAVEN for him “I did it all for YOU”, Dean has felt the weight of all that happened to Cas since. That’s why Cas’s words in 12x12 made him clam up, tense, look away. “The things we’ve shared together, they have changed me”. it isn’t what Cas meant but Dean can’t help but take on yet more guilt in Cas’s dying moments.

Especially if HE might be to blame as Cas’s “human weakness”…

As is a continuous theme from other Angels…

As he sees Cas changing over time he therefore can’t help but blame himself. And unfortunately most of the changes haven’t been for the best.

Remember that scene with Kevin from 7x21:

“Cause the angels – they don’t care. I think maybe they just don’t have the equipment to care. Seems like when they try, it just… breaks them apart.”

Now in Season 12

Dean tells Mary that :

“Saving people, hunting things, this is our life. I think we make the world a better place, I KNOW that we do”.

Now that is a big step forwards to his self worth.

He’s also upset with Mary in the later episodes BECAUSE HE FEELS HE AND SAM DESERVE BETTER! If he didn’t have self worth he wouldn’t care so much.

Now, regarding Cas, he is less and less angelic and more human, and Dean is noticing this. Cas keeps refuting the angels and has now said himself that he considers the Winchesters his family. He is definitely becoming more human. He’s hunting, driving a car, feeling emotions and now finally feeling like part of the family.  Yes, he also has been more broken, but he is definitely getting better now that the boys have both been supportive in recent times. Just the sniping back at Dean in 12x12 is again, similarly to Dean’s reaction to Mary, showing that CAS has more self worth and will stand up for himself.

In Summary…

1. If only Cas were human…. *cough* probably not going to be an issue forever.

2. If only performing!Dean were having some deconstruction and he didn’t feel the need to keep the front up re: bisexuality. I mean, the whole point of 12x11 was about deconstructing for the audience performing!Dean, what’s the point if not to continue this theme in the narrative.

3. If only Dean thought he deserved to be loved (its not surprising how when you look into it Crowley has some really good relevance to Dean’s internal struggles…). This seems to be an overriding theme of season 12 / Mary’s arc.

Well, all I can say is all these things seem to be being addressed in season 12  :)
