I AM GOING TO KEEP TELLING ABOUT THIS UNTIL PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION

BASICALLY THIS BILL CAME SO OUT OF NOWHERE THAT REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ACTIVISTS DIDN’T ATTEND BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT WAS HAPPENING
THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THEIR ANTI-ISLAMIC BAN OF SHARIA LAW WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY PREVENT PEOPLE FROM BEING LEGALLY MARRIED IF THEY WERE TO DO SO IN A MOSQUE AND ACCORDING TO THEIR CUSTOMS BECAUSE IT FALLS UNDER SHARIA
THEY SNUCK THESE LAWS IN BEFORE A HOLIDAY HOPING THAT NO ONE WOULD NOTICE

IT’S TIME TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NORTH CAROLINA

Shit is going down in Texas

Today begins committee hearings on the new sb5 bills. You have to register at the capitol to give testimony to the committee. This morning the registration began earlier than advertised and somehow the pro-life groups knew but the rest of the public did not. It was established that testimony would end at midnight regardless of remaining people on the list. Because of the registration time change all the pro-life testimony will be heard first and most pro-choice people will not get to testify.
Last session there was a ‘computer glitch’ that randomized the order and let most pro-life people speak. I’d bet that glitch is fixed this time and sign-up order is enforced.
It’s one thing to play these political games with other politicians, it’s another to do it to the general public. I’m so pissed right now.

  • Romney:And let's take a moment to look at my opponent's record. Need I remind you that it was during HIS presidency that the Earth was struck by massive comet, and tidal waves destroyed 90% of the human population?
  • Reporter:Um, Governor Romney, you're thinking of the film Deep Impact starring Morgan Freeman.
  • Romney:Okay, well, obviously what I said was inelegantly worded. But that president WAS a black man. Can we really afford to tempt fate a second time?
  • Obama:Okay, I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.
  • Fox News:Once again, President Obama avoids the big questions and just plays the race card.

Erick Erickson of Fox News tweeted the above in order to celebrate the Texas Legislature passing extremely restrictive anti-abortion laws.

Here’s what he’s referring to:

When abortions are illegal, women still need them and still get them.

Many women have suffered death and mutilation by attempting to use un-wound (straightened-out) wire clotheshangers as a way to puncture the amniotic sac or otherwise induce a miscarriage (by the way, the term for any miscarriage, desired or not, is spontaneous abortion. When I was trying hard to have a child, I very sadly suffered an unwanted miscarriage, and my medical records list that as S.A.).

Now, you can imagine the pain and risk of infection (and then the full pains of labor afterward if it works) that would go along with inserting a sharp metal object into the vagina, past the cervix, and up into the uterus.

Mister Erickson is making the HILARIOUS joke that women will now have to resort to risking mutilation and death if they are faced with a pregnancy they cannot afford (physically, financially, psychologically) to bring to term.

I wonder if he’d like me to open up a wire hanger and help him remove some of his colon polyps?

I am ABSOLUTELY willing to do that for him. Vigorously. And free of charge.

I was looking at a post on my cousins Facebook when this gem jumped out at me. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! I’m not even going to blur out his name. I feel that the world, or at least my fellow sisters need to know to stay away from him. This is not acceptable in any way, shape, or form.

WHY WOULD 4 PEOPLE LIKE THIS SORT OF SPEECH?!?!

From what I saw on his page, he isn’t older than 17 and that makes me sad. What has happened in his short time on this world to place this sort of hate in his heart?

For me, this year at least, Independence Day is very upsetting.

It’s hard to see the word FREEDOM all over the place when my own body is subject to the political whims of men who have more money and power.

It’s hard to feel free when huge numbers of my fellow citizens are being cheated, tricked, and strong-armed out of their right to vote, just so wealthy, powerful groups can stay in control.

I can’t see how I am very free when the elite class controls the subject matter of public education (Common Core Standards, high-stakes testing), and then makes higher education a life-long debt sentence.

This feels like Corporate Serfdom, not Freedom.

In 1776, we fought back against the control of an out-of-touch, self-serving government and the corporate greed of businesses like the British East India Company. And hen we gave the power to wealthy, white, male landowners.

It doesn’t feel like we’ve made a whole lot of lasting progress since then.

I hope it isn’t too late.
