Bros before hoes. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They got your back after your ho rips your heart out for no good reason. And you are nothing but great to your ho, and you told her that she was the only ho for you, and that she was better than all the other hoes in the world… and then.. and then suddenly, she’s not yo’ ho’ no mo’.

It’s been a whirlwind few days for Koyama Press and our artists starting last weekend at SPX where we debuted four new books: John Martz’s Burt’s Way Home, Steve Wolfhard’s Cat Rackham, Daryl Seitchik’s Exits, and Jessica Campbell’s Hot or Not: 20th-Century Artists. John, Daryl and Jessica were all in attendance signing and slinging their most excellent books! Thanks to the SPX organizers, attendees and guests for another amazing Camp Comics.

The debut artist that was absent from SPX, Steve Wolfhard, was not to be outdone and had a book launch in conjunction with The Beguiling in Toronto. The incredible Emily Carroll interviewed Steve in an enlightening (Cat Rackham’s origin story! Mysterious, unfinished Rackham tales!) and hilarious conversation. As an added bonus, folks were treated to a Cat Rackham cookie (and, in rare cases, a Jeremy) made by the amazing Lindsay Bakes! Thanks to everyone who came to fete our sad, but beloved, feline!

But we don’t stop there! This Sunday is Word on the Street where John Martz is a featured guest. We’ll be by the water at booth 543, in the Genre Zone, enjoying the view and providing quality comics content at Toronto’s finest outdoor literary festival!

Artist photos cribbed from the kindly Derek Royal and his great Comics Alternative. Interviews with each artist coming soon!

Koyama Press and John Martz’s attendance at SPX was gratefully supported by the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).
