Lisa Turns Fifty

Be not a slave to empiricism;
undermine pedantry. Take pride that you’re
smarter for it. Evidence bewilders
the chronically ignorant, and sure

you shade them slyly. Befriend the quiet,
enjoy puzzles. Ignore laity’s pleas;
read, human. The rules of morality,

therefore, are not conclusions of our reas-
on. Define your own Romanticism,
mets jazz at presence of insanity;
awe can yield facts. There’s use in a riot,
throw out all your dead ideas, be terse;
even Stephen Gould can re-examine
recent history; the crust is so thin.
