Deer hang in a freezer in line for the butcher’s block at Rome’s Meat and Deli in Butler, PA. Rome’s is one of a handful of processors across the state that are processing sites for the organization Hunters Sharing the Harvest, which delivers an average of 100,000 pounds of venison to Pennsylvania food banks, soup kitchens, and pantries to feed insecure people and families. Some Beechview residents want to see more development activity along Broadway Avenue.

A number of businesses opened along Broadway Avenue in recent years, particularly in and around the 1600 block. Those include Market on Broadway IGA grocery store, Crested Duck Charcuterie artisan butcher shop, market and deli, and Brew on Broadway, a nonprofit coffee shop and gathering place.
