Trump Says "Sometimes It's The Reverse," When Asked About Anti-Semitic Threats And Attacks

WASHINGTON — Asked about the recent wave of anti-Semitic attacks and threats across the nation, President Trump on Tuesday told a group of state attorneys general that “sometimes it’s the reverse,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said of Trump’s comments in his and other officials’ meeting with the president.

“He just said, ‘Sometimes it’s the reverse, to make people — or to make others — look bad,’ and he used the word 'reverse’ I would say two to three times in his comments,” Shapiro said. “He did correctly say at the top that it was reprehensible.”

Asked for further information about the purpose of the president’s comments, Shapiro only said, “I really don’t know what he means, or why he said that,” adding that Trump said he would be speaking about the issue in his remarks on Tuesday night.

Saying that he hoped to see clarification from the president in those remarks, Shapiro added, "It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.”

White House spokespeople did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, said, "That is an absurd and obscene statement.”

The Anti-Defamation League also questioned Trump’s reported remarks.“

We are astonished by what the President reportedly said. It is incumbent upon the White House to immediately clarify these remarks. In light of the ongoing attacks on the Jewish community, it is also incumbent upon the President to lay out in his speech tonight his plans for what the federal government will do to address this rash of anti-Semitic incidents,” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of ADL, said in a statement. Bad Cook [Matt Murdock x Reader]

Requested by anon: “Can you write female reader x Matt Murdock? Maybe some domestic bliss, or whatever you feel like? Thanks so much!!“

A/N: Need some fluff to even out the angst from yesterday.

One of your favorite things to do was just having a lazy day with Matt. Loving to just cuddle up into his side and watch, or listen in his case, to a movie. You’ll often explain what was happening on the screen and what the actors look like.

Tonight, he also didn’t have to go out and take care of his ‘night job.’ Leaving the both of you to be sitting on the couch laughing at the classic movie Night at the Museum. He had an arm wrapped around your shoulder as you had your arms wrapped around his waist, snuggled against his chest.

Listening to the steadiness of his heart beat and the vibration of his laughter in his chest.

Both laughing at one of the jokes made in the movie. One of your arms unwrapped itself and your hand moved to play with the ends of his hair. Making him move to kiss the top of your head. “Are you hungry?” asking him softly.

“A little” He shrugged, you let out a small sigh before escaping from his side and standing up. Leaving him to feel a bit cold from the sudden disappearance of your body heat.

Walking around the couch, you went into the adjoining kitchen. Matt standing up following you. Having the layout memorized, he leaned against the opposite side of the counter.

“I can cook if you want” he spoke up as you pulled out some pots and pans.

You laughed, “No you can’t” a smile on your features. “Why? You know I’m more than capable. It’s something we can be taught you know” he chuckled, misunderstanding what you meant.

“No it’s not that I’m saying you physically can’t cook because of your sight. I mean you’re just a terrible cook” laughing whilst beginning to put a meal together. Cutting up carrots and potatoes, deciding to make some sort of chicken dish.

“I resent that statement” looking at you with a look of pain. Of which you knew was all just an act. You shook your head chuckling, “Do we have to talk about when Foggy was sick and you attempted to make him chicken soup?”

Remembering a time where Foggy had fallen ill with the flu. To the point where he couldn’t make it to the office. Matt thought it a good idea to make him some chicken soup. Though he botched it and it ended in Foggy getting sicker. Since then you make the chicken soup, especially for Foggy.

Matt opened his mouth to protest but closed it before mumbling “Good point”

You shook your head smiling, “You’re beautiful when you smile” making your eyes shoot to look at him. “I still don’t know how you can do that, I know it’s probably something I physically do but–”

“It’s your heartbeat” he cut you off, leaving you to stare at him before he began to elaborate, “When you’re smiling your heartbeat skips a little” saying as he withdrew from the counter and walked around to be in front of you. “Like when you’re excited it speeds up some. When you’re scared or sad your breathing gets labored. When you’re nervous your heart races and your breathing picks up.” You stared at him dumbfounded as he proceeded to wrap his arms around your waist.

Pulling you closer to him, leaving you completely in awe at his words while looking into his unshaded eyes. Even though he was blind, and usually their eyes looked different. You couldn’t help but find his beautiful.

He smiled before adding, “Or when you’re in awe by something, everything evens out and is in sync.” resting his forehead to yours.

“You’re amazing” He shook his head, “No, I’m just.. different”

Sighing you whispered, “I love you Matt Murdock.” Hearing him chuckle lightly, “I love you too [F/n] [L/n]”

You smiled a small smile before connecting your lips to his. The kiss not heated or feverish, but slow and loving, passionate even. Pulling away you muttered against his lips, “You may be different, but you’re a good different”

He grinned again, “How about we just order take out and continue this else where?” rubbing his nose against yours. You nodded before he kissed you again, this time the passion strongly present. Eagerly returning it.

Until you felt him smirk into the kiss… He heard your heart pick up.

Klaus perceiving Caroline’s sublimated feelings

I just quickly want to write my own statement to the new post of Amber and the general situation w/ f(x) as my own opinion. It’s very late ,so sorry if I write nonsense…
I love f(x), and I love Amber. She’s been my role model for a long time and I admire her personality and courage and it hurts to see her this disappointed and sad.
She’s been giving her all for such a long time, and always tried to please her fans, make them smile but is constantly neglected by SMEnt. She doesnt deserve this at all. She is an unbelievably creative and talented human being with a heart of gold, but like everytime, SM only looks for the money. Which is arguably understandable, it IS all about money afterall. But theres the point: she’s one of SM’s most successful soloists, writes her own lyrics, produces her own music (really dont intend to throw shade to any other soloists) with meaningful messages and it’s still not enough? Why?

I feel like my biggest fear right now, the disbandment of f(x) is nearer than ever before. Dont get me wrong; I want all of the members to be happy and do what they want to do, and I feel like it would be the best for all of them to begin a new chapter. Of course I’m sad, very sad actually, but lets face it… It’s the best thing to do. I don’t want to see Victoria overworked like she currently is, I dont want to see Krystal having to stay at SM even after all the things that happened to her sister, I don’t want to see Luna starving herself because of stupid weight restrictions and hate from knetz and I dont want to see Amber falling apart on what she once loved to do. I feel like it would be the best thing to do.

f(x)s music helped me through tough times, like some of you may also think. Their music is different from other groups, not only the genre, but also the lyrics. They dont always sing about their cute Oppa, the bad guy that cheated on them, or them looking for their 1st love, no. They did great songs about various topics. On relatable topics. Maybe thats why I appreciate their music so much… I never get bored of their music, I can even hear the same fucking song 10 times in a row and I wouldnt be annoyed!

Amber clearly isnt happy anymore and that hurts so much. She is the type of person that hates sitting around and waiting for miracle, and her patience has ended (understandably). I just hope this is over soon and no matter what happens… I will support them, they probably dont know of my existence, but they also supported me.

I'm losing it, look I like klaroline but don't you think maybe the biggest flaw for them is that he almost killed her twice? The first time when he had Tyler bite her as collateral damage and then when he wanted to hurt Tyler for what happened to Kol, so once again as collateral damage. Yes he loved her and put her first but he also almost killed her, TWICE! Plus it was by werewolf bite which we know is psychologically traumatizing, so he forced her to relive her worst memories TWICE!

Look, if you are losing it I would recommend some breathing exercises, some calming music, maybe some meditation.

That been said I would also like to put a reminder when it comes to TVD. I know many people seem to have forgotten that little detail when the TVD/TO writers decided to follow the twilight root and create a human ordinary soap out of a vampire series but here it is:

The Vampire Diaries: Horror Genre. Fantasy Genre. Vampire Genre.

So if I am watching a horror show why would I expect horror and then call it a flaw in the narrative?

It is as if someone comes to me and asks me why I like Dracula. But he bit Mina, he terrorized her physically, emotionally and psychologically. He killed Lucy, he tortured and killed people, he was a mass murderer and turned people to mindless slaves (see a pattern here?). There was sexual and otherwise abuse in Dracula. Why do people like it then and consider it a classic? Why are there so many gothic romance adaptions made from Dracula? Why in some adaptions his and Mina’s story is a love story and an eternal romance despite the fact that it is still portrayed in similar abusing ways? Why would people ever watch horror or vampire stories at all?

The thing is there was always a level of dark fucked up romance inside the core of the vampire genre. And TVD was based on the vampire genre. And Klaus and Caroline are both vampires. Not innocents. Not heroes. Not absolved of sin. I am not saying that all that crap necessarily go with the territory but if I was to judge what I was viewing in the Vampire Diaries by the code of morality I would judge a human genre theme then I would not have bothered with TVD at all to begin with.

All that aside every single one of the love stories in TVD was an unhealthy and an abusive one. Every single one. In different aspects or forms but every one was problematic. Especially those that were most promoted. If this is such a hot point for you then A. you should not be watching TVD at all and B. if you do you should not be shipping anything or liking any characters since most of them are killers and abusers (ps: Caroline included).

The issue for me and this is why I eventually dropped TVD and never bothered with TO at all was that it took the dark aspects of the gothic vampire romance and used that as an excuse so to glamorize and romanticize abuse. Showing abuse and horror in any genre is one thing but having the writers normalize it is another. Yes for the vampires in the narrative it is something natural and normal but it should be up to the viewer how to perceive that abuse and the gothic lore and it should feel unsettling and horrifying from outside the screen and not an example of true love and something to look for in real life too.

TVD didn’t do that. After a point they started sweeping every abuse under the rug and started glamorizing and romanticizing even rape. You have the abusers becoming the romantic MORAL heroes of the story. You had the rapists presented as the good heroes that we should side with them. You had very unhealthy messages passed along the screen.

But here is the thing and this is why I still ship Klaroline. Despite practically every other ship of the TVD they… didn’t do that. They acknowledged the abuse. Klaus was treated as the villain. They never sugarcoated what he did to Caroline. They never presented it as something romantic. They never excused it. Caroline did not lose her agency in fact she became stronger. Through everything both characters had characterization development. Both characters were shown for what they were. Klaus’ actions were shown as abuse and that was it. Klaus never became the romantic hero in TVD. He was never shown as the victim. He was public enemy number one and more so by Caroline herself despite any connection they might have shared. Caroline did not see him under rose colored glasses. She was never deluded by him. She did not view him as the love of her life. She did not forgave his actions. She did not call him misunderstood and good underneath it all. She did not give him the green card to abuse her and then call it a day and be okay with it and even excuse it. She didn’t become his punching bag. She didn’t become his prison groupie. She didn’t become his love interest (he was hers). She was not used to prop him up and comfort his tears and coddle his ego. She was not used as an object for his affections and redemption. She did not sacrifice herself for him. Her mind was not twisted into perceiving his physical abuse and emotional manipulations as romantic and epic. Caroline also too advantage and abused Klaus back. Caroline stood her ground and kicked his ass. Klaus was shown for the kind of misogynistic twisted asshole he was. A maniac. The villain. The trickster. A VAMPIRE. And never in his story with Caroline we were allowed to forget that or avert our eyes from the problematic shit you mention in your ask. TVD took Klaroline and used messed up vampire lore (as it should for the genre the show served) and honored it by presenting two vampires in their element without sugarcoating anything. They showed a dark story -in the dark fiction genre- with all its layers and depth and without shying away from the dysfunctional elements and did not glamorized and wrapped all that in a pretty bow trying to make you believe that it was healthy or balanced. It was not. As vampire romances never are…or should be. This is why most people from the Klaroline fandom always point out and analyze and judge ALL the messed up parts of the ship for what they are.

The reason why I didn’t point what you write in you ask as the ship’s biggest flaw was because it was always treated as a flaw by the show, the writers, the fandom.

So narrative wise and in the ship’s structure I would not call that the biggest flaw. Because despite being a flaw (as you rightly call it out for being what it is) it was not presented as a healthy romance message as many if not most ships in the TVD/TO universe have been presented as despite how sick and unhealthy they are. And when it comes to Klaroline and to the Vampire genre in the end it ended up being good storytelling.

so what's the drama with the Han Solo movies? help me keep up with the times

Phil Lord & Christopher Miller were hired in July 2015 to direct the Han Solo movie. While I really didn’t want a Han Solo movie and wasn’t in the least bit thrilled at the casting choices, I figured it may be ok because Lord & Miller have proven that they can direct movies like Lego movie, 21 Jump Street, etc. They aren’t “newcomers” necessarily and have some bigger and successful projects under their belts.

The movie has been shooting since January apparently. So…like roughly 6 months and now, when they’re most likely pretty close to being finished, Lord & Miller are not the directors anymore. Some articles seem to be saying that they “stepped down” from the position, while others are straight up claiming they were “fired.” I’m not entirely sure which is true. It appears that more sources are saying that they did not step down voluntarily, which is sad honestly.

It’s fairly unusual for something like this to happen so late in the game. Other directors are often brought in to helm reshoots, like what happened with Rogue One when Tony Gilroy took control, but for the official directors to straight up take their names off the film is kind of crazy.

It seems like they’re claiming that this happened because of “creative differences.” That’s a pretty broad term, but I definitely think that it has something to do with Kathleen Kennedy. Apparently she was butting heads with them. I’m not sure what it is specifically, but some articles are also claiming that the directors weren’t really into some of what Kasdan was writing either. I have a feeling that these two, Kennedy and Kasdan, may be so set in their ways and not open to new ideas and ways of doing things that when Lord & Miller came in with their process, Kennedy and Kasdan felt (wrongly) threatened. That’s my thought. As a film student and filmmaker, I believe there’s more than one way to make a film and that no one person should have such tight control on something that others feel squashed creatively. It happens too often.

Apparently a source claimed that there was ‘a culture clash from day one’ and that Kathleen had ‘tight control’ on set. There’s also the claim that Kathleen wasn’t happy with the directors’ shooting style and way of interacting with cast and crew (whatever that means.) [ x ]

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said Tuesday in a statement. [ x ]

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project,” a statement from Lord and Miller read. “We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.” [ x ]

“It was a culture clash from day one,” the source said. “She [Kathleen] didn’t even like the way they folded their socks.” [ x ]

At this point, I’m on the side of the directors regardless of whether they were fired or not. We’ve seen a lot of wild stuff come out of Kathleen’s mouth that has kind of showed her true colors. She’s said some quite sexist things about having a female director on Star Wars, claiming that they haven’t found a woman experienced enough, despite hiring men who have little experience themselves [ x ] and there’s been some controversy regarding her attempting to block the casting of poc in lead roles in the Star Wars films and bizarrely casting white british brunette women over and over in every female lead…hmm…interesting how she’s a white brunette. I’m not saying she’s trying to self-insert, but she’s probably trying to self-insert. [ x ]

It really begs the question though…what was the tipping point here? What was so bad that the directors had to leave so close to the end of filming? There are literally three weeks left before they wrap on shooting. If there were creative differences, wouldn’t they have realized things weren’t working out much sooner than this? It doesn’t reflect well at all on Lucasfilm and with the rumors that the saga was not planned out for after The Force Awakens (absolute insanity that I can’t believe) [ x ] and episode IV’s director, Colin Trevorrow’s latest film (after Jurassic World, which I didn’t personally think was very good) tanking critically [ x ] It honestly makes me wonder what the actual heck is going on over there at Lucasfilm and Disney. This property is literally worth so much money.

Many saw the Han Solo film as a total cashgrab, myself included. With so many lame claims like “find out Han Solo’s real name!” and “find out how Han and Chewie met!” I just kind of saw it as a way to give us answers to things that ultimately…most of the fanbase doesn’t seem to care about. There can only be one Han Solo in my opinion. No one can top Harrison Ford so why even try? Fans have been demanding an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie for a long time now and even Ewan McGregor has stated that he’d be interested and now even Joel Edgerton has stated he’d like to play Uncle Owen again. [ x ] Why didn’t they just make this film instead? The probable answer is that they are, after all, a money making machine. I guess we’ll just have to see if more info emerges about the future of the Han Solo movie and hope that The Last Jedi is what we’re all hoping for.

Do you know what kept me standing…

“Do you know what kept me standing all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen.”

(Daenerys Targaryen; Game of Thrones S7 E3)

Ok, but aren’t you forgetting someone?

I know that violence is not an appropriate response to nonviolent actions but I still want to crack every “biphobia is just misplaced [x]/biphobic statements are also [y] because intersectionality” asshole over the head

You know good and goddamn well that BIPHOBIA, the hatred of someone specifically for being BISEXUAL, is not “misplaced homophobia”. If they were saying “ew you sleep with [same sex]? Disgusting” then you would have an argument, but that’s not what we’re referring to and you fucking know it, we’re referring specifically to people (ESPECIALLY people within the LGBT community) whose problem with us is entirely the fact that we are sexually attracted to both, and who make shitty statements such as “actually you’re gay/straight/confused/slutty/greedy/disgusting” etc.

ALSO! Not every issue effects more that one group! Sometimes hatred of a group…only effects that group! It doesn’t apply to people outside that group and no amount of “but Intersectionalism!” is going to make you right! Biphobia and biphobic comments affect bisexuals, not straights, not lesbians, not gays, not transgender people, just bisexual people.

Stop trying to make biphobia about other groups, either care about it because it affects bisexuals or don’t, but don’t pretend it affects other groups so you can pretend to care.

Can we stop throwing one group of dogs under the bus to try to make a different group of dogs look better?

Like “nah my big dog is very sweet, but those little rat dogs are vicious!” and the other way around literally doesn’t help. Just saying your dog is sweet/whatever is enough, you don’t have to throw other dogs under the bus. Making broad statements about x type of dogs to defend your x type of dog people make broad statements about makes no sense.
