Me about Fanfiction (....ugh that's a terrible title)

You know the thing about fanfiction - and all that’s included with it - is as soon as you really get into it EVERYTHING you watch or read you start thinking :

I wonder if there’s a fic about this part ?

Is there a fandom for this ?

They two/three/etc, should totally be together

Why would they do that. I need to go find a fic where that happens differently

They are totally related (even though they haven’t said in canon that they are). Is there a fic about that ?

He/she/they need to die. Now to find a fic where that happens.

I hate him/her. Let’s go find a fic where their life gets ruined.

I need an AU with these characters

Or is that just me ?

“We come from a tradition of tolerance, freedom, and justice. From a legacy of fearless exploration, of allies who respect each others differences, honor and civilizations. We come on a mission to understand our world and our selves better. We come in peace.”  Quote by Michael Burnham.

Is it me or does this sound like a good quote to use in a video celebrating 51 years of star trek like the new monologue? I mean, THIS IS A PRETTY BAD ASS QUOTE, IT’S ELEGANT, IT’S STAR TREKKY, IT’S AHHHH. IT’S AWESOME. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. I’ve been sitting on making this post because I was wondering if the text would be too long for a gif set so it seemed more picturable as a youtube video.  STAR TREK shows. Like …

We come from a tradition of — scenes from TOS.

From a legacy of fearless exploration – TNG scenes with Klingons in them.

We come on a mission to understand our world – DS9

We come in peace - Vulcan salute.

I MEAN YOU COULD USE THE NEW MONOLOGUE ‘WHERE WE  HAVE NEVER GONE BEFORE’ AND POSSIBLY TURN THAT INTO A GIF SET OR A VIDEO. BOTH I mean, ideally? I look forward to anyone attempting to gif it. Or make a video with her quote. Because it’s a really good one to be honest. It’s good. Very hyped for Discovery. And a gif set or a video would be perfect for the monologue promos.

↳"I’m afraid you have it all wrong, Mister Spock, all of you. I’ve been monitoring some of their old-style radio waves, the empire spokesman trying to ridicule their religion. But he couldn’t. Don’t you understand? It’s not the sun up in the sky. It’s the Son of God.”

For some reason, the title "Undiscovered Country" makes me feel like I've been turned inside out and my arms all tingly. I don't know exactly why it gives me such a visceral reaction but every time I read it I kind of tear up and have to wait and calm down again! I just think it's really beautiful and for some reason it makes me feel like I'm staring off into the void of the universe but also a very dense, lush forest. Love your fics thx for writing ❤❤❤

You know, I just want to throw out one possibility: It may be because I’m an idiot.

Someone pointed out after I’d posted the first chapter that it’s a phrase in Hamlet’s famous soliloquy about to be or not to be blah blah blah and is used as synonymous with death which WAS NOT REMOTELY THE INTENTION and OH MY GOD NO. This is what I get for googling my potential fic title and only seeing the Star Trek movie of the same name and saying, “Oh, the name sounds familiar to me because it’s part of the ‘Space: The Final Frontier’ monologue, and I’m actually really okay if people get a space exploration vibe from the title, so, fine.”

ACTUALLY NOT PART OF THE STAR TREK MONOLOGUE. DID NOT THINK ABOUT HAMLET. SHOULD HAVE EXAMINED MORE CLOSELY.

I’ve actually debated whether I should change the fic title because of my aforementioned idiocy and would love to hear further thoughts.

The premise sounds semi-rom-com, and there are rom-com-esque moments, but there’s also some serious stuff there and I wanted to signal it…somehow?

NOT HAMLET LEVEL SERIOUS. Chapter Two is as bad as it gets, kittens.
