standing. ovation

“My counter to that is to boil down characters to their core tenets, and to keep them IC via that.” I can’t comment re: Jake obvs but STANDING OVATION for succinctly stating how I feel about AUs in general. I’d argue that they call for a *deeper* understanding of the character: what’s essential? what’s a product of environment? what changes in a new environment? Fanfic is always a riff on canon; we’re just playing with things like key and rhythm.

man i fucking looooooooooooooooooooooooooove AUs man i love them man

Montreal

The other day, I was watching a video that showed the Bruin’s fans doing a standing ovation for the Canadian Anthem. They did it because Habs fans booed the American Anthem during their last game. Yes, it was fucking immature from them to do that. I don’t understand and hate people who disrespect others. I apologize to the Americans for that stupid action. But, what upset me was the comments from the English-Canadians saying that Montreal wasn’t really part of Canada. That, Montrealers are arrogants who think that they are better than the rest of the country. I know that it wasn’t the proudest moment of our History but can you please shut up? Not everyone from Montreal act like drunk and frustrated fans in the Bell Centre, okay? I agree that there is assholes in Montreal, I met many of them, but I’m sure that those kind of people exist everywhere. I actually hate a part of the Habs fans. BUT, Montreal is way more than “Canadiens fans”, we are proud of our culture and differences. Yes, we are not like other provinces, we like to be called “Québécois”, we speak french not english, etc. Despite all of that, we are Canadians as much as the people from Toronto or Vancouver. So please, don’t ever judge a whole city based on some immature hockey fans.

Sorry for the mistakes

Okay I’m about to spill some tea

SO “oh look, taylor swift is dragging up past drama to sell her new album, look at her playing the victim again, you’re still over”

is what all the haters happen to be screaming (among over ridiculous things) tonight, following the release of Look What You Made Me Do, the lead single to Swift’s 6th album: Reputation. But let’s take a little trip down memory lane to see if Taylor really is playing the victim. Hold on ladies, it’s gonna be a long one.

2006-2008

Taylor broke out in 2006, and when Love Story stormed the charts in late 2008 she became a global superstar and thus named “America’s Sweetheart” a bittersweet and dangerous title for any young female star, because it’s so easy to fall from the top. She was immediately held to an impossibly high standard of perfection, in every aspect of her life, and she handled this with grace.

New ‘Black Panther’ Footage Gets Standing Ovation at Comic-Con
Who was happier to see new “Black Panther” footage at San Diego Comic-Con: The fans or the cast? It was a close call as the audience in Hall H on Saturday leapt to its feet, while the s…
By Seth Kelley

The scene opened in a high-end poker room. Boseman, Nyong’o, and Gurira’s characters whisper as Serkis arrives to negotiate a deal with Freeman.

“Don’t worry, they’re just here to gamble,” Serkis says of his cronies. Then to Freeman, “Did you bring the diamonds?”

Serkis, who has one prosthetic arm in the film, pulls something marked “fragile” out from the fly of his pants. One of the cronies hears Gurira’s character, Okoye, whisper too loud, and the action-packed portion of the scene begins.

Okoye pulverizes her attackers with a golden spear, and at one point tosses her wig in one man’s face. Serkis begins shooting at Boseman, while Nyong’o opens fire as well.

Boseman leaps up an entire story, grabs the balcony and lifts himself up to stop Serkis from getting away. The villain’s arm opens up to reveal a high-powered gun which he shoots at the hero.

The scene then cuts to a montage set to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s DNA.

Before the footage screened, Coogler expressed his appreciation to the Comic-Con crowd. “I grew up as a young black kid in the Bay Area,” he said. “As I got older I wanted to find a comic book character who looked like I did.” The first character he saw that did that was Black Panther.

“To be here … is amazing,” Coogler said, adding that he wants the movie to show “someone who got his power from the people around him and his history.”
