stan the man musial

On this day in Baseball History September 2, 1962: Stan “The Man” Musial pinch hits for pitcher Bobby Shantz in the 9th inning against the Mets and singles off of starter Al Jackson at Sportsman’s Park aka Busch Stadium I. Musial’s single was his 3,516th hit which placed him above Tris Speaker on the All-Time Hits list.

This week’s #HOFFriday honors Stan “The Man” Musial and his final game in 1963. Musial finished his career in the most fitting way, with a hit in his final at-bat in front of the St. Louis crowd.
