A 9ft x 11ft Stained glass painting devoted completely to Harry Potter.
A replication of the North Rose window from Notre Dame, the images of Christianity have been replaced with images of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, along with a few Easter eggs from across the HP universe as well as ways one can devote themselves to Harry Potter. This window took me 3 and a half months to complete. It’s my pride and joy. I still don’t know how I did it.
First stained glass piece of the year (though not the only one I’ve been working on). Lark, my little changeling playing on her bone violin, with notes and thorns swirling about in a little song bubble. Had fun using my curling and curving lines for this one!
My personal artistic hero… Harry Clarke (1889 - 1931) was an Irish illustrator and stained-glass artist and key figure in the Arts & Craft movement.
He illustrated works for Edgar Allan Poe - my favourite being ‘Tales of Mystery & Imagination.’ Dover Publishing re-printed it beautifully as a hardback edition - here’s the link to it on amazon - For way less than £30 it’s one of the prettiest books you can buy
Get THIS BOOK if you want to see all his stained glass work - before it gets too hard to track down. It also lists where you can see the existing works (mostly in Dublin) and has a very thorough bio on Clarke
