I want you and I don’t want to be a luxury. I want you to need me. I want you to not be able to concentrate because you’re thinking about me. I want you to reach for your phone because you thought of something you have to share with me. I want you to not even be able to breathe at the thought of never seeing me again, because that’s how I feel about you.

anonymous asked:

Could you recommend some writers (online or published) with similar writing styles and stories as you? Or just some really good recs in general?

Hey! I’ve gotten a few similar inbox requests for this lately. It’s kind of a weird question for me to answer because it sounds douchey to say something like ‘Oh yes, my writing style is similar to Chuck Palahnuik’ when in reality it’s more similar to Old Spice commercials.

But what I will say is, here are some recs for published writers whose styles I totally admire and enjoy:

Het Romance

  • Jennifer Crusie (seriously ANYTHING by her)
  • Shannon Stacey
  • Kieran Kramer
  • Janet Evanovich

  • Terry Pratchett (my absolute biggest writing hero)
  • Neil Gaiman
  • Douglas Adams
  • Diana Wynne Jones
  • Naomi Novik

Gay Stuff

  • Z.A. Maxfield
  • K.A. Mitchell
  • Ethan Day
  • Damon Suede
  • River Jaymes

(Here’s a link to a Goodreads list for Best Humorous Gay Romances)

(OH GOD JUST NOTICED MY SHIFTER STORY IS INCLUDED THERE. Side note: Way back when, someone else took the initiative to add, like, all my original fic to Goodreads, and name my books as if they were a series. Thanks, anonymous reader. I am both pleased and a little weirded out.)

Anyway, here are some recs for fanfic writers that I read absolutely 100% when they post anything. I’m not claiming I write like them, just that I wish I did. Check out:

Okay, now I turn this over to you, gentle friends. Can you rec some authors both online or published that you feel would have a similar appeal to a reader who likes humor, goofy puns, and monsters?
