“First Amendment” (Day 15/365) by Milmon F Harrison
On this, our last full day in New Orleans, I found myself back in Jackson Square in the plaza in front of St. Louis Cathedral. I couldn’t get a good picture of this guy when we saw him last Saturday, but I got lots of pictures of him today. Since we arrived I expected to see Trump Voodoo Dolls, and today both my wishes/expectations were fulfilled in one shot. I love this spot, with the music, the dancing, the carnivalesque atmosphere, and–most of all–the interesting juxtaposition of fortune tellers and psychic readers arrayed all across the square in front of the Catholic church. It speaks volumes about the culture of New Orleans and also about American culture more broadly. I love it here!
