Irish Soda Bread

So, being Irish and in the St Patty’s Day spirit and all, i figured i’d make something simple and easy, that is also Irish, Irish Soda Bread! I found this recipe of allrecipes.com, and it is really truly a great place to find new recipes.  It was titled “Irresistible Irish Soda Bread” and it called for :

  1. 3 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 tablespoon baking powder
  3. 1/3 cup white sugar
  4. 1 teaspoon salt
  5. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  6. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  7. 2 cups buttermilk
  8. ¼ cup butter, melted

Prep time is a about 15 minutes and it cooks for anywhere from 50 minutes to an hour at 325. The baking pan i used was a 5x9 darker colored one, and i sprayed it with some Pam and dusted it lightly with flour. You simply mix all the dry ingredients together, then created a well in the center of the dry mixture, and place in the two cups of buttermilk and a whisked egg. You gently stir the mixture until it is almost combined, then add the melted butter in. Stir it until it is well combined, and pour the mixture into the baking pan. Then, you of course put it in the oven and allow it to bake for the required amount of time.

Mine is still in the oven at this very moment, but as soon as it is done, i will have pictures up and let you know how it tastes!
