Love card/board games? Love fan fiction? Me too!

I’m all wrapped up in designing a fan fiction storytelling card game, and hoping to get some feedback and help.  Click here for a document with a list of the cards, soliciting more suggestions.

Squick or Squee is a storytelling card game in which the players construct fan fiction stories by using common genre tropes and filling in their own favorite characters and elements!  Shuffle cards in or leave them out based on whether you’re feeling like wizards, space travelers, paranormal hunters, detectives, or heroes.  Play competitively where you race to complete the best story first, or collaboratively where you each contribute elements to a single masterpiece.  Just beware of the rabid plot bunnies that will result!

I have no idea if this will get to a place where I can put it out in the world in some form for other people to play it, but that would be kind of awesome.  And I’d love to know if anyone would even be interested in such a thing.

Want to help?  Make suggestions for cards, and also reblog this!  Thanks a million, and I’ll just go back to that plotbunny for White Collar genderswap crackfic from our last playtest. :-p  (Other fandoms represented so far in play tests: Harry Potter, Criminal Minds, Dresden Files, Doctor Who, Supernatural…a lot of Supernatural, but that’s just because of who’s playing, ha!)

And if you want to stay informed, I guess follow this tumblr or the #squickorsquee tag. It would be awesome to get some playtesters eventually, too!

HP/Twilight Road Trip Crossdressing Love Triangle…

I thought it might be fun to start posting some of the stories/plot bunnies that have come out of play testing Squick or Squee.  The final card layout is above (notice the “crackfic” card, haha), and this is the story I ended up telling:

Severus Snape and Remus Lupin, during their year working together at Hogwarts, became closer for a time than anyone expected - and during the holidays, took a road trip together to visit Stonehenge (because Snape needed samples of some plant growing there for his potions, and Lupin wanted to practice driving a Muggle car).  On the way, they picked up a hitchhiker, an American teenager who called himself Edward and was, Snape immediately decided, far more obnoxious than even Harry Potter.  However, Lupin seemed strangely taken with him, which annoyed Snape even more.  It was only when daylight began to peek through the rain that Snape started to notice the sparkling, and in a fit of jealousy, grabbed the boy’s suitcase and upturned it, revealing a lot of women’s clothing and also some bags of blood.  Edward was horrified by the discovery of being a vampire (less concerned about the crossdressing, but they’re all open-minded here) and explained that he was on his way to Italy to commit suicide because a girl didn’t like him anymore.  Lupin’s interest immediately waned, and they left the vampire in the nearest deer-filled forest and went on their way.

Not that I think anyone would want to take me up on this offer for THIS one, but as a standing offer: Anyone who wants to write a fanfic based on any of these bunnies that I post, I will make you an official playtester - whatever that means, yet to be determined, even if it requires mailing you handwritten index cards. :)

In the meantime, still hoping for help and feedback on Squick or Squee!
