A Trial Run (Roommates AU - Swan Queen Week)

Quick AN: this is a modern setting with both girls being high school juniors attending boarding sküle.

The first thing Emma did was drop her bags and jump on top of her bed.

She sighed in contentment at the familiar feel of the boarding school’s standard box spring mattress and moved her hands behind her head to assume the ultimate relaxed position. She was no fan of the school, but move-in day always had a special place in her heart. She was free from her parent’s watchful eye for a good three-and-a-half months, and soon she would be making plans with her friends to go out and get into far too much trouble for their own good.

“Excuse you.”

Emma sat up at the annoyed sound coming from the other side of the room. She was surprised to see another girl standing there, clearly in the process of setting up her side, and looking at the blonde with the most antagonistic glare she had ever seen. Emma wondered how she hadn’t noticed such an imposing young woman the moment she had walked in.

The hostile look and the darker skinned girl’s posture – hands on her hips, jaw locked, foot itching to tap impatiently on the floor – set Emma off immediately, and she figured if that was the attitude the brunette across from her wanted to start the school year off with, then so be it.
