spock uhura kiss

;; spock&uhura → smooches 💋 2/?

↳ Uhura: Are you sure you don’t want me to go instead?
Spock: That would be highly illogical as I am already outfitted—
      Uhura: Spock, I was kidding.

“When I was a boy growing up on Vulcan, I was constantly bullied by those who sought to remind me of my human half. As if they would ever let me forget. In my subsequent efforts to prove to them, and to myself, that I am a Vulcan, I ignored the fact that humans have many admirable qualities. Some,” he said meaningfully, "even more than others. Of all your admirable qualities, Nyota, I find your heart to be your most admirable, and it pains me to think that through my own ineptitude, I have lost it. It is my sincere hope that you will continue to share it with me and to help me remember to sometimes be… more human.”

Tears rolled down Uhura’s face, and she touched the Vulcan lute in the corner. She had thought Spock could never drop his logical exterior and serenade her, and yet he just had.

“Would you like to hear me play it?” Spock asked, seeing her hand on the lute.

Uhura turned. “Not tonight,” she told him, and she pulled his head to hers and kissed him.

Starfleet Academy #4: The Assassination Game

Okay but you know what moment in stb had me in unexpected stitches? Bones waking Spock up when he starts to drift off.

Fandom likes to say that Vulcans touching hands is like a kiss. In-universe, though, it’s more like a hug. (Amanda and Sarek face the world with their arms around each other; it’s badass and cute.)

It’s putting your hands near somebody’s *face* without asking that is something only your mom or your SO does. Not sexual, but intimate. Ruder than rude, for a stranger. Hands and faces are where Vulcan touch telepathy is strongest…

Which is what Bones does, in ignorance and worry (or on purpose and worry, knowing that it would get a reaction/telepathy might be the only way to wake Spock up if he’s unconscious).

Spock reacts, too –he opens his eyes, goes “I’m quite awake, Doctor,” in a tone that’s reproving enough to get McCoy to back off, but not at all hostile (and may or may not be blatant lies…)

when spock/uhura kisses are showed from her perspective (her face is visible), my detail-oriented self can’t help but always notice and love the way Spock’s long eyelashes softly signal when he’s looking at her and then he closes his eyes as they kiss.
